Last week they postponed it by a week. Could do the same thing today. Or we could make them throw it out!
I wrote this Sunday morning and accidentally posted it with the title and handle transposed. I really do think this is valuable information I'm sharing and I don't want it missed by people thinking its silly internet gossip about a handle they aren't familiar with so I'm reposting and including the comments others left on the original article on the bottom. I'm leaving mine out, I need to go and its not showing up on the post yet.
Anyway please note any questions and I will answer to my ability but I would like to re-iterate that I am not offering legal advice, I'm not a lawyer and I don't even play one on TV. I actually just barely have both my GED and Diploma (long story.) My advice is from years of study and interest in this subject but does come with a double your money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied. My level of interest in this subject can only be explained by my handle. I'll only be checking the email below for the next week or so.

The 2010 Winter Olympics will take place on unceded indigenous land in the Coast Salish Territories. Far from being simply about 'sport', the history of the Olympics is one rooted in displacement, corporate greed, fascism, repression, and violence. Those with the most to gain from the Olympics are the political and corporate elite - from real estate developers to private security corporations.
Which business asked that homeless people be swept from beneath the bridge in the middle of fucking winter?

The Bend city manager can declare an emergency any time the temperature drops below 25 degrees, and local shelters are full.
That allows churches and other buildings to house people overnight and keep them out of the cold. Gary Marshall is the fire marshal for the City of Bend. Gary Marshall: "We have to remember that spending the night is a lot different than a day shelter. A day shelter you are just looking for a place to come in and stay warm. These people have the same right of safety as any of us that can afford to stay in a motel."
The hip-hop beats ringing through the muddy, unlit streets of the burnt-out Palestinian refugee camp Nahr al-Bared seem incongruous. But the rhymes are camp-grown - and courageous.
The Portland Scrooge commission must read this, it only takes one signature or maybe several, to get possibly hundreds or even potentially 1000+ homeless people in off the streets right now this week. Read the article to find out how simple, quick, and do-able this could be.

An on-going forum dedicated to community dialogue on issues of homelessness/houselessness, including the controversial sit-lie topic, was the focus of a huge gathering tonight at the First Universitarian Church of downtown Portland, OR, in which several hundred homeless advocates, as well as members of the CAG - Civic Action Group, of Sisters of the Road Cafe, and Portland City Commissioners Amanda Fritz/Nick Fish, were present.
Their mentality was that of the bubble. Inflating downtown real estate was at the heart of their fantasy plan, small business and local renters be damned. Now, as the bubble bursts and "developers' dreams turn to dust," what will be the future of downtown, and who will make this future? Here are five well-entrenched institutional entities to watch, challenge, resist: 1. The Portland Design Commission ("the other PDC") 2. The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) 3, The Daily Journal of Commerce (DJC) 4. The Portland Tribune ("The Cement Mixer") 5. TriMet
The reason I noticed this, is because the police car nearly ran me down as it swept around the corner onto 4th, going the WRONG WAY on a ONE WAY STREET. And the reason I stayed is that this society is going the wrong way, down a path I don't think any of us really wants to be on.

So, for the last few months there has been no Eugene Food Not Bombs, and that is a shame, especially during these the cold, wet winter months. In an attempt to restart up Eugene Food Not Bombs there will be a meeting Tuesday January 27th, at the Growers Market (454 Willamette St- up stairs), at 6pm. Stop by and find out what food not bombs is about and lets work together to help alleviate hunger, confront militarization (both at home and abroad), and undermine the commodification of food!
