Bush is pushing to make public access to public lands into a FOR-PROFIT venture. His newly proposed National Parks Initiative is designed to use the authority of the Recreation Fee Demonstration Program to REPLACE congressional funding for our National Parks with USER FEE REVENUES collected from paying customers. Bush's proposed law would permanently remove funding from National Parks, ensuring the dependence on user fees for ALL National Park funding. This means privatization and commercialization will soon follow as the parks run out of money to operate.

Oregon Senate Bill 615 attempts to revoke First Amendement rights of the press when covering police actions. A voluntary agreement between broadcasters and police is being turned into a law that carries criminal penalties for shooting unapproved footage during hostage standoffs. The right to observe police operations is a constitutionally protected right. This effort to undermine that right would further endanger the public from out of control officers, and the flawed system that permits police brutality to continue unchecked.
