Chani has received her orders to report to the Dublin, CA federal prison on Tuesday, September 10. For those not familiar with her situation, she was arrested last fall at Fort Benning, Georgia, while taking part in a non-violent protest against the U.S Army's School of Americas. She was found guilty and sentenced to six months in jail.

The earth summit was last night breaking up in bitter disagreements as governments and business declared the largest meeting ever convened a resounding success, while charities lined up to declare it the "worst political sellout that the world has seen in decades".

Oddly enough, the 9/1 post claiming responsibility for a fire in Pennsylvania appears just before another anonymous post purports to place a well-known Pacific Coast forest activist in the area. Cui bono?

Several people have contacted us about lingering effects or especially strong reactions after having been pepper sprayed at the A22 Bush demo or the Critical Mass on 8/30. This leads us to believe that there are probably more people out there with similar problems.
As of March 2002, the team was researching a mix of pepper spray ("OC") and an unidentified calmative agent. Pepper spray is the most powerful chemical crowd control agent in use, and has been associated with numerous deaths. Adding a pharmacological "calmative" to OC would create a hideous concoction. The report prioritizes Valium and Precedex (dexmeditomidine) for weaponization, and it is possible that these are the agents that could be mixed with OC.
