On July 30, over 200 people turned out to a public meeting in Portland on the USDOE's plan to bring 70,000 truckloads of waste to Hanford. There were so many people that UDSOE was forced to agree to hold another meeting so that citizens could comment on the plan.
Personally, I am currently in favor of a police presence at CM's. The ride
is supposed to be an intentional demonstration/parade which raises awareness in non-bikers (particularly those in cars). When ride participants ride on the wrong side of the street and forcibly enter into intersections against red lights, they are endangering themselves and others. I for one favor that they be cited or arrested. They are breaking a reasonable law and they give every bystander the wrong impression of cycling and cyclists.
The bOregoniain does it again with this story that clearly takes a side, kowtowing to the FBI and giving very little slack to activists. Are any of y'all still under the impression that corporate media is good journalism? that is, "objective" and "balanced" and all that crap? Well wake the fuck up. Corporate media is the Enemy.
