I feel like I'm seeing more free piles in PDX than I used to. You know, the boxes or piles of stuff that people set in the green strip next to the street where people will hopefully take it. Often there's a sign that says "FREE", but not always. I seem to be seeing increasing recognition that this area of a residence is "the free zone" generally, and there's no need for a sign.

Until publicly financed campaigns can protect citizens from unfair concentrated wealth, independent candidates for office must raise money to make their case. This Saturday, from 7:30 pm on, Lehrman for Senate will holds its first fundraiser at Elisabeth Sherif's house in Santa Fe. Directions are below. The title of our discussion will be Anatomy of the New World Order and What to Do About It. I will discuss my own political history and the motivations for my candidacy. Finally, on solutions, I will present a new national idea, ... Decentralized, bioregional, sovereign autonomous zones with the freedom to create their own currencies based on renewable energy, organic food, municipal water and public utilities will underwrite the birth of a society organized in the best interests of each community. As Senator I will work to break the Federal Reserve's monopoly on credit, oppose international globalization, devolve sovereign powers to local government and support renewable energy and organic food as the basis of new currencies designed for human life, rather than for slave-driving pyramid builders.

The court recommended that coho's legal "threatened" status be reviewed and a new listing decision be finalized within 60 days. Restoration of ESA listing would prohibit actions that harm the species and require the government to prepare recovery plans.

Uhh the interview with the former NSA agent and economist who wrote the book "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" on Democracy Now was very good today. It was in depth, well documented, and the questions weren't the chucklehead shit you get everywhere else.
happy poetry day!
This morning, I went out to work in my garden. It's a beautiful, sunny morning, with the sun glinting on leaves and bees quietly moving between the flowers. Ahhh. I expected a tranquil, peaceful communion with the singing birds, the gentle breeze, and the buzzing of insects. That is, after all, one of the reasons why I live in a place where I can have a garden.

Ordinary people can make political change that affects global warming. Action does not always have to come from the federal, or even state, level; local actions, too, can curb carbon emissions.
