Sometimes you get terrible service from the government.
This is an exciting time
Capitalism cannot function any more without credit-financed debt on account of constantly increasing productivity. The recession will come because the indebtedness-dynamic can hardly be maintained with which the capitalist zombie-economy suffocating in its own productivity is kept alive in its pseudo-life.
How and what will a more green egalitarian society look like? What will it be in your locality
The government of the United States displays badly skewed priorities when it can afford to murder men who have done me no harm using Predator Drone and Hellfire missile technology while, at the same time, proposing to cut domestic postal and Medicare programs.
How is that Packing for Guantanamo Coming?
The Alexander/Mendoza campaign calls for a real jobs program, as well as protecting public sector jobs which have been faltering since the economic crisis began. They say that spending billions of dollars on incentives for businesses doesn't get the job done - rather they call for the government to create jobs directly.
There is a way for the Occupy movement to fix the US.
Apart from Canada and Mexico, Japan has also expressed interest in being part of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The door is also open for other countries to join which is why many consider it to be a building block for an Asia-Pacific free trade zone. Another NAFTA-style agreement poses a serious threat to economic sovereignty.

The violent police assaults across the US are no coincidence.
Occupy has touched the third rail of our political class's venality
Unfortunately, the ACLU-mediated actions to generate grassroots activity in favor of Udall's amendments are based on patent falsehood, and thus will bring about the very thing the ACLU is claiming to prevent: US military detention of US citizens.
The US is like a drunkard who charges to war with anyone who might pose a threat, ex-Senator and former US presidential candidate Mike Gravel says. Television interview with ex-Senator (Alaska) Mike Gravel reveals some interesting comments and insights about how and why we are in the shape we're in now.
Monday's vote on Senate Bill 1867, if passed, will seal the fate of the 99% and Occupy organizers. Naomi Wolf's report on why Congress will pass Senate Bill 1867 is reposted below in "The Shocking Truth About the Crackdown on Occupy". What happens in the next 72 hours will change the history of our nation. Email your US Senators now - before its too late.
In response to the Occupy Movement and its perceived threat to the status quo, Congress will vote next week on Senate Bill 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act bill, to explicitly create a police state. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill will "basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield" and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial "American citizen or not." Another supporter, Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), also declared that the bill is needed because "America is part of the battlefield." Write your Senator NOW!
Christian Wulff, president of Germany, deplores violating the coming generation and the failure to regulate the financial sector.
The mild-spoken president whose job is to deliver cliches and not do anything speaks with passion like Angela Merkel inveighing against the banks.
MANILA: The former Philippine president Gloria Arroyo has been charged with electoral fraud in a move that could pave the way for her arrest, after the government rushed the case to a regional court to keep her from leaving the country.
"The sanctions don't hurt the Iranian government, they strengthen it," explains Stewart Alexander, "They hurt the working people of Iran."
For your weekend reading I offer a longer essay, about why spending on the military is no good way to stimulate your economy. It plunges into the history of the left debate about Military Keynesianism and also discusses the arms contractors' newest schemes for exempting defense budgets from conservative vows to cut everything. I hope you enjoy it.
Dependence on funders instead of people is dangerous. The problem is the system, not the republicans. We've become incapable of addressing global warming, health care etc. Crisis is an opportunity to do something, getting a government that is responsible. We have a democracy that is corrupted compared to the founder's ideas, a system that is distorted by money.
Open Letter to Mayor Adams and others
When it comes to continental integration, much of the focus has shifted to greater convergence bilaterally which over time could move back to a more trilateral approach. There is an overwhelming sense that one way or another, the U.S. is going to get a North American security perimeter on their own terms, one that its NAFTA partners will have to conform to, whether they like it or not.
"We aren't making economic progress," says Stewart Alexander, Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party USA, "we are simply going through a long term process of replacing poorly paying jobs with even worse jobs while corporate profits soar. The only 'change' Obama has given us jingles in our pockets."
Recently by the S&L scandal, but this has been going on for centuries ...
Jo Ann Hardesty a former State Representative from NE Portland from 1995-2001 and currently on the Portland City Charter Review Commission is hosting an open forum for Occupy Portland to bring Public Financing of Elections back to Portland.
If elected president in 2012, Alexander says his administration will support the provisions of a livable guaranteed annual income. A Guaranteed Livable Income would be an unconditional and universal income administered by the federal government and granted to individuals to ensure that no person's income falls below what is necessary for health, life and dignity.
NATO has lost the war...Since the Afghan executive is hated and becomes the problem instead of the solution, NATO supports an illegitimate government and falls into a situation that is hardly tenable. The Taliban only needs to survive to be victorious. The presuppositions for a negotiated peace exist.
The 2010 Attac Bank Tribunal in Berlin was a civil society legal proceeding that decried the speculative business model: take excessive risks and burden taxpayers with the costs. Rating agencies should be public. Banks that are too big to fail are too big to exist and should be broken up. The government is complicit in bailing out banks and abandoning the real economy.
What bank/s do/es the City of Portland have their money in?
Since the beginning of the financial crisis, governments from Berlin to Washington solemnly vowed to regulate the financial system more strongly, close the casino on the financial markets and call to account financially the unrestrained speculators for their inflicted damage. Good roaring, lions - but no deeds followed the words.

To clearly define the needs of working people and to establish a new social and economic order, Stewart Alexander says he would commission an Occupy Wall Street Council. The OWS Council would be comprised of thousands of working people from local communities, states and throughout the nation. Alexander emphasized his choice to head this national council would be peace activist Cindy Sheehan. Alexander says, "It is my hope that the Occupy Wall Street movement and the OWS Council will help establish true democracy in America."
A train loaded with green-painted military equipment is in the Portland train yard. marked with Red Crosses as some sort of mass casualty response system? They don't send green equipment to the desert.
Echo's of the shadow government can be heard echoing, like a gravelly voiced man in a parking garage.
"I don't know what the policy is for releasing their names," he said. "There are some who said, 'We like you guys; we'll help you as much as we can, but don't use my name.' ... There are people who want to stay neutral, and if they said, 'Don't use my name,' we're going to respect that. I don't think that's unusual."

Commissioner Amanda Fritz will be speaking to Occupy Portland in her official capacity to answer questions on city government and citizen concerns. This is a great opportunity to open a constructive dialogue with city officials and to address important issues in an open setting.
Alexander, who prides himself on his working-class background, maintains that the Socialist Party historically has been "the true representative of the Left," a point he hopes to drive home not only to disillusioned progressives, but to millions of working-class and poor Americans who have been mercilessly pummeled during the current economic crisis - a near-catastrophic downturn caused almost entirely by the recklessness and avarice of those on Wall Street and their overt enablers in the nation's capital, Democrats and Republicans alike.
the 99% got some balls. It's just too bad that they had to wait until they were so insulted and it got so bad.
If one hits the url of a public entity, is that a moment of occupation? An expression of free speech? And is it a right?
While in the past Canada has exercised a more independent foreign policy, in many ways, it has now succumbed to the imperialistic aspirations of the U.S. and NATO. The war in Afghanistan and the continued bombing in Libya have demonstrated Canada's willingness to use military force to advance foreign policy.
The crisis is 30 years old, not three years old. The causes of the crisis should be tracked down in the real goods-producing economy, not in the financial markets. The wildly proliferating financial markets did not drag goods-producing industry to the abyss. Rather the financial markets were kept alive up to the collapse of the bubble by credit-financed demand.
Enough is enough! The American people are being raped and robbed by financial institutions. Some of these institutions, such as the Bank of America, exist ONLY because of the bailouts. How do they show their gratitude? With the iron fist of Brian Moynihan and his cronies!
Peace and resistance are part of our nature as antibodies are part of our bodies. One world where many worlds fit and where everyone has a place is the Zapatista vision! Gracias Marcos and the Zapatistas who choose life over the myths!
Viva Occupy Wall Street! Viva Occupy K-Street!
Last night while I was watching MSNBC
The crisis began in the US where the government became heavily indebted after September 11, 2001 in the war against terror and where property owners, banks and hedge funds long lived openly on credit.. Now banks and hedge funds unhinge whole states with short-selling and credit insurances. The German government was laughed at when it prohibited short-selling in 2010.
Do you think the Drone killing of Americans should be an impeachable offense?
I have about had it with Obama. Who will be drone killed next? The Wall Street Occupiers?
I hope Nadar, McKinney or someone will challenge Obama in 2012. The Drone Killings

Since 2001, the Philippine government and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have been trying, but have so far failed, to stop us and our parties from representing the marginalized and underrepresented sectors in Congress. Now that we are running for the Senate, they are becoming more desperate in trying to prevent us from serving our people and pursuing the politics of change.
Today, Stewart Alexander announced that Darcy Richardson from Florida will serve as his national policy advisor, and Steve Trager from Ohio will serve as his regional campaign director. Both Darcy Richardson and Steve Trager have been activists on the political left for more than two decades. Alexander says he would seek former U.S. Congressman Alan Grayson to step in as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. "We need a Federal Reserve Chairman that will help steer the nation out of this depression; I want Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke out and Alan Grayson in."

Coinciding with the 39th year anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, Akbayan lawmakers today filed a resolution urging the House of Representatives to officially declare former dictator Ferdinand Marcos an "enemy of democracy."
Distorted incentives drove the failure of risk management. There was an evaporation of trust in 2008. In September, Lehman Brothers and AIG went bankrupt.
More than a year before, he had staged the dress rehearsal for the declaration of martial law by proclaiming the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus on August 21, 1971 when without evidence he blamed the Communist Party of the Philippines and Benigno S. Aquino for the Plaza Miranda bombing immediately after it happened.
There is no reason to trust that our governments will strike any kind of balance between security and freedom. That is why it is imperative that we demand more transparency and input. With a joint action plan expected to be released soon, it is my hope that Canadians and Americans will reject any perimeter security deal that reduces privacy rights and further puts our sovereignty at risk.
With pride as a people, we commemorate a historic national event this coming September 16, the rejection of the US military bases twenty years ago
If this is true, we are living in scary times.
