Breaking News -- court records show Cobb-Badnarik-Kerry add charge of vote tampering
(RawStory.com/exclusives/) The lawyers for Green presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik, along with Kerry-Edwards 2004 have added election tampering to a civil suit filed against the state of Ohio over problems with the state's recount, RAW STORY has learned.

The suit, detailed here, alleges that a manufacturer of voting machines, Triad Election Systems, which serves 43 counties in the state, is tampering with the recount. It is unclear exactly what recourse the plaintiffs' seek; the filing adds on to an original suit to have the recount take place before Ohio electors meet, which failed in the courts. Green Party spokesman Blair Bobier said the party hoped to reform the recount process and suggested Ohio should secure or impound voting machines.

'DT' adds: This story should be big news across the U.S.A. -- of course, it is systematically ignored by the corporate media. That's why I am reporting here at PDX indymedia.

Greens paved the way for historic electoral vote challenge
[Yesterday]'s historic Electoral College vote challenge would not have happened without the leadership of Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb, who initiated the recount of Ohio's presidential vote and is demanding a second recount in federal court because the first recount was conducted in violation of state and federal law.

"Clearly, by demanding a recount and an investigation into the widespread irregularities with the presidential vote in Ohio, the Green Party paved the way for today's challenge to Ohio's Electoral College votes," said Cobb.

Stolen pResidential election certified by Congress despite history-making objections
Today was a historic day and you directly helped bring it about! Not since 1877 have the electors been challenged in this manner. Today Senator Boxer and Representative Tubbs-Jones challenged the electoral votes from Ohio. As per process, the Senate and the House of Representative moved to their appropriate chambers to futher debate the issue.

During this time 10 Senators came forward (including Ron Wyden), came forward and spoke about the horrible problems in Ohio and elsewhere! In the house even more came forward to speak against the electoral votes from Ohio. Again I cannot emphasize enough on how historic this action was.

In the end both chambers defeated the challenge.

CSPAN censors Sen. Barbara Boxer
CSPAN originally announced that one channel would be covering Senate and one covering the House counting of the Electoral Votes. Fair enough I thought. Next, before that, CSPAN2 actually had half of Sen. Boxer's press conference describing myriad problems with the Ohio voting infrastructure that showed systemic vote fraud.

HOWEVER, IT WAS CENSORED. DURING THE BOXER PRESS CONFERENCE, which was framed as a series of questions about all the different levels of fraud, CSPAN TWO CUT AWAY FROM HER, MUTED a Senator's voice to nothingness, and an anonymous voice came on and described "at this time, Senators and Representatives are moving to their respective houses, etc." and we saw several minutes of senators and representatives walking over, without anything actually going on, while someone made a decision to remove Sen. Boxer's statement from the visual live record, and move her to a smaller MUTE screen in the bottom left-hand corner while we saw silent Congress people walking, and walking, and walking. The walking had very important sound coverage. Sen. Boxer did not!

Meanwhile, where is Senator Kerry?
Meanwhile, Senator Kerry is on an extended Mideast photo-op, "thanking the troops for their service." Apparently he'll be following the Electoral College vote and the Senate confirmation hearings for our new attorney general, Alberto Torquemada, on his Blackberry.

'Sean4489' writes: John Kerry is a piece of shit
Why the hell did I vote for that piece of shit? How convienient for John Kerry to be overseas supporting the troops rather than fighting for Americans' right to vote. This is a feeble attempt by JK to try to avoid the vote fraud issue and still appear to be fighting for democracy (ie, staying out of the controversy so he can run again in 2008). Well, I for one will not vote for JK, and I will tell others to do the same. I should have voted for Nader.

Another election stolen while America sleeps
vote fraud We've been robbed again, and yet most voters probably know little about this latest episode of electoral travesty. The most under-reported story of 2004 is what happened pre-, during, and post-election Nov. 2. Yet the story of irregularities and fraud, occurring in many ways and in many different regions, may be a hard one for the public to follow, as the story line is complex, and the information is out there, but mainly in the alternative media.

Neither The Oregonian nor The New York Times have covered the topic in depth. Even the Nation only ran a simplistic piece by David Corn, who pooh-poohed the vote protest and echoed the Boston Globe in making the issue seem only of importance to internet conspiracists.

A movement of frustrated voters has risen around Oregon. "Clean Vote" sprang from the Multnomah County Democrats, with the catalyst being activist Bill Dodds. Portland's Action Speaks is a non-partisan group, which sprang from the efforts of Code Pink and others, with the principal spokesperson of Johnny Marie. Truth-in-Voting is active in Eugene, and has published a guest column in the Eugene Register-Guard.

These groups rallied at our state capitol on both Dec. 12 and 13, in synchronicity with the national vote protest movement. The Sunday event (Dec. 12) coincided with the "51 Capitol March" protests at the federal capital and other state capitols, and attracted over 200 people from around the state. Katy Eymann, activist and wife of Secretary Bradbury, was one of the many speakers; she pointed out that Oregon is one of only six states in the nation that do not have a lawsuit pending over vote irregularities!

Kerry joins Cobb's request to preserve evidence in Ohio recount
The Motion filed by Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb last week, asking a Federal Court to preserve a wide range of evidence to ensure the integrity of the Ohio recount, was officially supported by the Kerry-Edwards campaign today.

"We welcome Senator Kerry's belated interest in ensuring the integrity of the Ohio recount. This effort, initiated by the Green and Libertarian presidential candidates, has been focusing on the integrity of the election process and not on the outcome. In order to trust the election results, we have to trust the process. All presidential candidates, including George W. Bush, who are committed to an open and accountable voting system should demand an investigation into an election clouded by serious allegations of fraud and suppression," said [Blair] Bobier [Media Director for the Cobb-LaMarche campaign].

New Mexico recount goes back to court
Attorneys for Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb will file a Notice of Appeal on Tuesday from a District Court decision which rejected Cobb's request to start the New Mexico recount without paying the entire cost of it in advance. Last week the New Mexico Supreme Court declined to hear the case. Since the Supreme Court did not rule on the merits of the case, it can be heard by the New Mexico Court of Appeals.

The Notice will be filed on behalf of Cobb and Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik who are both seeking a recount of New Mexico's presidential vote. The candidates paid the state a deposit of over $100,000, and say that New Mexico law does not require that the entire amount of the recount be paid in advance.

"We believe the law is on our side and look forward to a full recount of the presidential vote. There are still many unanswered questions about provisional ballots, missing votes and the integrity of voting machines which don't produce a paper trail. The people of New Mexico deserve to know that their votes will be counted fairly and accurately," said Cobb.

Portland group in forefront of overturning Electoral College Vote on Jan. 6
Don't give up hope yet that Bush's coronation is inevitable, Folks!!! To update you on what's happening about overturning Ohio's Electors' vote on Jan. 6 in Congress, a Portland group that's part of the Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee--CleanVote--has been working on what happens next should members of the House and Senate agree that voting irregularities in that state are so prevalent that its 20 votes will not count. Without them, Bush hasn't won the election. In the 2000 presidential election, several House members contested the votes, but not one senator was willing to do the same--a scene familiar to anyone who has seen the film Fahrenheit 9/11. Senators told producer Michael Moore that "nobody asked them." That's not true this time! And you can join the barrage of letters being sent to Wyden/Smith or to senators such as Kerry, Edwards, Byrd, Kennedy, Boxer, et al.

Presidential Election 2004: Mock the Vote
Ohio's Republican Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell and New Mexico's Democratic Governor Bill Richardson are two elected officials who seem to care little for the laws governing elections or the people who put them in office. Both Ohio and New Mexico had more than their share of problems on Election Day?problems with electronic voting machines, problems with provisional and absentee ballots and, in Ohio, numerous allegations of racially-based voter suppression and intimidation. That's why Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb has demanded a recount in these two states.

You'd think that public servants?responsible for administering elections and sworn to uphold the law?would want to get to the bottom of these allegations.

You'd be wrong.

Kerry Preparing Grounds to Unconcede?
If you haven't been following John Kerry closely, get ready to hear of surprising developments. The vote-defrauded, potential president-in-waiting has just indicated through his lawyer that the validity of George Bush's reelection is no longer a given.

On 23 December, 2004 Kerry's lawyer confirmed to MSNBC's 'Countdown' that John Kerry will be seeking (likely on Monday 27 Dec.) to expedite court proceedings and secure evidence in an ongoing recount suit by the Green and Libertarian parties.

Rise of the Amerikan Nazis, Part II: Death of Democracy
Whether willing or not, the American people have become captives to whatever information is or is not aired by the corporate media. We are unable, for example, to hear any information or news on the debacle in Iraq, with its ceaseless war crimes and mass murders, or on the devastation of both land and man of radioactive depleted uranium, or on the dire threat of global warming, or on the balanced view of the Israeli-Palestinian issue or on dissident points of debate prevalent in this country and, of course, on the ever-widening scandal that is the fraud-riddled election of 2004. We remain, unfortunately, at the mercy of the corporate media, itself in bed with the Amerikan Nazis, unable to inform ourselves of anything detrimental to both government and big business. The sphere of reality, for those who have yet to discover the liberating energy of the Internet, is as limited as those in control of television wish it to be.

If you care what people think : Poll results from Cornell University
Yesterday, the communications department at Cornell University released a poll exploring some of the pertinent topics of our times. They studied the effects of "religiosity" against attention to corporate media (which means TV news) and how these factors affect personal opinon of such things as civil liberties and treatment of Muslims.

One point that surprises me is that about half of all those surveyed think it's OK for the gov't to lie to the media. They apparently don't mind being lied to. This surprises me because I strongly dislike being lied to. Especially be the media, and even more so by the government.

Folks Don't Get It: African-American voter disenfranchisement in the 2004 election
I have noticed something. Since the election all the threads which have raised the issue of Black disenfranchisement -- whether in the context of Ohio this year, Florida in 2000, or generally -- as a form of electoral fraud have ended up devolving into ignorance and/or dying as threads. Specifically, whenever this issue comes up, whether in a diary of its own or in connection with someone else's Onio thread, there appear to be three primary reactions:
  1. A vigorous attempt to insist that systematic disenfranchisement through whatever means is not the same thing electoral fraud, such that the Ohio disenfranchisement is less of a priority right now since it will be fixed "someday"; or
  2. Silence in response to any poster who contends that, whether or not it changes the outcome, the ongoing fight to count all votes in Ohio is a fight to ensure the rights of African-American voters and thus deserves the party's public attention and commitment.
  3. A cry of "tin foil hat" and arguments that nothing is "proven" so it must not be reality -- it's just bad planning, bad administration, in other words, just an unfortunate mistake.

Major Media Refuses to Focus on the Recount
Main stream media, for the most part, is refusing to report on the Ohio recount and the emerging reports of voter fraud, disenfranchisement, and suppression. It is an extremely disgusting situation, with literally thousands of people volunteering to count every vote and those brave and wonderfull people protesting in the bitter cold about what happened...

The main press is keeping an eye on the situation, you can be sure of that. They know that you people are out there looking for the truth. And you are getting very close to blowing it wide open.....an eye wittness to e-vote manipulation, and a whistle blower of e-vote flip programs.

You are being relied upon to bring the truth out, and you are doing a fantastic job. My sickness caused by the Nov. 2 election is gone because of all of the couragous people taking a stand and working to find the truth.

Live Report from the Ohio Recount
there are stunning developments opening up in the Ohio Re-Count currently underway. This is a live report coming to you from Seneca County, Ohio from your intrepid Indy Media Journalist. There are a total of 10 people from Minnesota that we know of here in Ohio, fighting for the principle of democracy. This includes Eli Anthony and Mark Halverson from Minneapolis, Kurt, a lawyer from the twin cities, Burt from St Paul and myself. This is the story of two of the observers, Levi Anthony and myself. The below are the facts and experiences as best as we understand them.

We recieved the call Friday that a number of Republican attempts to stop the re-count had failed and so the recount was on.

Freedom Fighters in Ohio Call for Help
One of our bloggers sent in this impassioned plea for help from Gary Polvinale, in Sandusky, Ohio. Gary describes how hard people in Ohio are working to make sure that every vote gets counted, and why he's looking for you to write to the media and demand that they start reporting on the growing list of irregularities being uncovered as the recount moves ahead.
Kerry campaign issues letter to Blackwell demanding investigation
Senator Kerry's and Senator Edwards' state counsel for Ohio has issued a letter to Ohio Republican Secretary of State and Bush-Cheney '04 chair Kenneth Blackwell demanding an official investigation into voting machine tampering in Hocking County, RAW STORY has learned. The letter, which was sent Wednesday, also asks that Blackwell require hand counts in any county where machines have been compromised, or have an independent expert inspect the machines. Hocking County elections official Sherole Eaton alleged that a Triad Election Systems representative disabled a machine and tried to plant unverified information into the recount at the House Judiciary Committee's election hearing Monday.

Portland indymedia reader calls out Counterpunch for its cavalier dismissal of the 2004 sElection Fraud
Just wanted to point out the difference between the same old, same old election thefts of the past, and the new and improved election theft of the present - worker by worker, machine by machine, precinct by precinct, county by county
one line of code = millions . . . = the entire state

It's an exponentially easier task to do with exponentially less liklihood of ever getting caught at it, regardless of who is at the helm....

I really don't think Alexander Cockburn has put a lot of time into thinking about this. But you can do better. You can look into it, feel it, and see if electronic vote fraud capability really means nothing in comparison to the history of election fraud. This isn't about protecting or saving the Democraps - for me and many other Greens, regardless of Cobb's his crowd's purpose - this is about exposing the awful potential of e-voting fraud.

The statistical studies already show it happened.

Report from V.O.T.E. rally and the casting of votes by Oregon's Electors in Salem
At 11am, about 200 people gathered in Salem for a rally highlighting fraud and mistakes in the Presidential election. The Electors met at 12pm at a formal process in the state capitol witnessed by about 250 people.

I attended a rally today and spoke on behald of the Pacific Green Party. The crowd was about 100 people when the rally started and grew to about 200 just before noon when we went and witnessed Bill Bradbury oversee the Electoral Process.

There were tons of High School students around the capitol performing a holiday concert in the Rotunda so the place was pretty active. Corporate media was represented by a few radio and TV stations. OPB was there. KBOO too.

Report-back from "You Stole My Vote" rally
Attended by approximately 300-350 people, the protest featured speakers and music. Speakers included Pete Hamer, Oregon State Coordinator of 51 Capital March; Elizebeth Atly, of Portland Code Pink and Johnny Marie of Actions Speak Portland. The mike was then turned over for anyone who wanted to speak, including a 13 year old young lady and a phone relay from Portland with information from a press release concerning events in Ohio.

A commenter adds: Channel 6 had a brief account on their 5pm news, saying there were "dozens" of protesters... a quick shot of the crowd ... a smirking news reporter. Pretty disappointing, not even a serious attempt to research what the rally was about or that it was nationwide. No interviews with attendees.
