As activists and community members working toward transformative change, there are times when we overlook the importance of self-care and our own well-being. This one day mini conference will address barriers to empowerment such as activist burn-out, the martyr complex, and institutional violence. Please join us as we create and practice alternatives to taking care of ourselves and healing our communities.

"The commons is an old value that's resurfacing as a fresh approach to twenty-first-century crises such as escalating economic inequality, looming ecological disruption and worsening social alienation.
In essence, the commons means everything that belongs to all of us, and the many ways we work together to use these assets to build a better society."

The Common Welfare Economy provides an economic systemic alternative to the free market as well as to the centrally planned economy, a completely different way and partly also a synthesis from both major historical concepts.

We have sent a team of negotiators over to the Portland Marathon Office. They have a permit for today at 9am, but according to our source they won't really start moving in until tomorrow and that they could work around/ with us if they were so inclined. we are asking for your support and help in encouraging some reluctant members of the Organizing committee to work with us. Physical support, Phone calls, web posts, are all appreciated

"Re-creating Revolutionary Communities is not about locking ourselves in our own homes with stockpiles of food and ammo and it's not about confronting our current class-based diseased system head-on with heavy weaponry or ineffectual protests. It's about, as far as possible for each of our own current circumstances, CREATING OUR OWN SYSTEMS."

Interested in keeping stuff out of landfills? Providing access to super-cheap clothes and goods? Creating a community space? Raising funds for local radical groups? This one project seeks to do all of that.
Amongst a slew of visionary-type insights, comes a slick new human programming technology --albeit "old hat" to many of you by now: interactive video, with positive feedback for those whom act "professionally" and will "get the job"
Barbara G. Ellis ask the question: Why not a WPA-II? We do have that civilian army of 15,000,000 unemployed, which could tackle the $2.2 trillion dollars of vital work needed by 2014 on our ramshackle infrastructure system.
Eye witness accounts and word on the street. Are we missing the mark?
In this session, we explored more of mass manipulation by psychoanalysts as well as begin finding key imagery shared in the Cascadian collective identity. As an assignment we ask that you, the participant, ponder your earliest memories of "rain" and the emotions and situations associated with rain. when people in this country hear that the government might default on its loans in august, they panic. obama tells us that they'll have to freeze social security checks, which brings in the AARP to sob to congress and get them to agree to another trillion or so dollars of debt...after all, what's another trillion on top of the thirteen trillion we already owe? but I think obama is being disingenuous, and using the AARP and the like for a political end, that the debate over whether to raise the debt ceiling so we can keep paying for our wars is like demanding ransom from a nation held hostage to the irresponsible corrupt actions of the corporate elite and their government puppets.
"For those in whom a local mythology still works, there is an experience both of accord with the social order, and of harmony with the universe. For those, however, in whom the authorized signs no longer work - or, if working produce deviant effects - there follows inevitably a sense both of dissociation from the local social nexus and of quest within and without, for life, which the brain will take for "meaning". Coerced into the social pattern, the individual can only harden to some figure of living death; and if any considerable number of the members of a civilization are in this predicament, a point of no return will have passed."

This course is FREE as it is part of Portland Free School. The goal is to create a bioregional awakening (Cascadia) that becomes widespread and very contagious and then create a "culture of active social change."

I'm calling for a better process of accountability in regards to radical institutions in Portland.
This was a thread I originally began at the Pffugee Camp blog. I realize I am again wantonly reposting some of my boilerplate positions on this blog, but nobody responds to my radical proposals, so maybe if I saturate your minds with my propaganda, a few will respond. HOWEVER: The bizarre revelation that comes forth at the end of this latest harangue will quite possibly blow your minds!
No good revolution should go to waste! What is the point of agitation and revolution if the people have no goals? If people have no specific demands, what should they expect to get? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Obviously the Democrats and the Republicans are are very nearly identical. All the Rush Limbaugh Democrat hating is a giant Psyop, obviously. Limbaugh's deep agenda is just as friendly to the Democrats as his overt agenda is to the Republicans. The American nation no longer really exists — The American Super Psyop has replaced it completely. I guess no one is interested in my proposal for an Equality party, so we are going to be stuck with yet another Democrat/Republican psyop election. We aren't going to do any damn thing whatsoever? Really? Let me suggest a place to start: Start by boycotting the lavish bankrolled blogs, like "Think Progress." Only visit the makeshift volunteer blogs, like this one. I deeply regret my former contributions to "Daily Kos", which at first fraudulently pretended to be an independent progressive blog, but turned out to be a front for the Democratic Party. I think the lavish bankrolled blogs use special software to generate fake page visits to spoof search engines and site meters into reporting massive web traffic. Our little blogs must band together to expose and denounce the lavish bankrolled blogs! We need to get our own fake page visit software to drive up each other's web traffic statistics, too. Perhaps I should make use of one of my old dormant independent sites to go live again to resume the battle of the lean against the fat sites.

A response to "Vegan Rules", which reminded me of authoritative, self-aggrandizing activist egos, such as mine sometimes turns into without me recognizing it. Most recent vegan converts seem to be sorely unaware that the ethics of veganism and straight-edge aren't resultant of Ian McKay and Fugazi and the hardcore music scene, which I earnestly admire and adore. Those roots can be found in ancient, 6,000 year and older, sacred texts from Kemetic, Abrahamic and India's Jainist scripture. For our modern times, this is "required reading" on the philosophy of animal liberation
