Permaculture in the City? Is it possible?

Is it possible to create a permaculture village in the city? My imagination has been piqued by other conversations happening on Portland Indymedia. So I did a little investigation to see what resources are available and if anyone is moving toward a sustainable model in Portland and other communities. Here's what I found so far:

Admitting our failings while blaming America
Nonetheless, Friedman, we are not blaming the U.S. because it seeks its interests in one way or another. We, Arabs, should blame ourselves in the first place by leaving that tyrant of Baghdad to offer the U.S. one opportunity after another to achieve its own agenda at our expense.

Robert Fisk: I sat on Saddam's throne...
Opposite the President's chair was a different work of Baathist art. The torchlight that illuminated the canvas produced a gasp of astonishment and horrible clarity. It depicted huge missiles, flames burning at their tails, soaring towards a cloud-fringed, sinister heaven, each rocket wreathed in an Iraqi flag and the words "God is Great".

There's no UNITY for anti-war because IPRC type places ignore minorities here!!!

But this isn't just about the IPRC, which is a non-profit group. When I talk about the IPRC in the below article, PLEASE, PLEEEEASE, imagine that the IPRC is any group that YOU belong to which is a mostly caucasian-american organization. We need UNITY in the PRO-PEACE organizations and this article will help you to open your eyes to the UNITY problems that have been ignored for far too long which is how the WAR was permitted!! True love & UNITY!!!

The IPRC Has The Same Amount of Asians, Blacks and Latino Staff as the K K K

The IPRC has the same number of Asians, Blacks and Latinos Staff as the KKK. I will no longer "sugar coat" the equality problems in the IPRC. I have been ignored for over a month. I have begged for them to have a meeting about equality but was ignored. The IPRC is now passing out a flyer which says they plan to "celebrate" the same changes and renovations which I have been "sweetly" asking them to reconsider. They spit in the face of equality!

Racism, Ageism, Classism & MORE in the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC)!!! Also, i want to invite all races, ages, social classes & people no matter what their disability, to the IPRC Open House on April 5th, 2003. The IPRC is, perhaps inadvertently, trying to STAY a "yuppie" club, like so many "businesses" have done & now they have made "renovations" ("art gallery"??) to reflect this attitude! i want diversity! i want ALL people to Unite, to stop budget cuts. hatred, indifference & to stop all this WAR and love MORE!

Use Reality to Destroy Virtual Reality
The antidote for virtual reality is reality. Destroying virtual reality is essential. Unless the people are liberated from the mind numbing manipulations of experience imposed upon them by the corporatists, the state will continue to pull their strings. Rebel tactics should focus on forcing reality into the lives of the people.
