The Long War of John Kerry
Kerry has consistently voted for gun control, for abortion rights, and for environmental protection, and has opposed the death penalty.... He was one of the first Democrats to sign on to the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings balanced-budget proposals of the eighties; he favors free trade; he voted for welfare reform; he has even, on occasion, delivered speeches that raised questions about such bedrock liberal dogma as affirmative action and guaranteed tenure for public-school teachers.

Kerry & Bush are both of Skull and Bones (Secret Society)

A little-known fact unites Democratic frontrunner John Kerry and President Bush: they are both members of Yale's secret society Skull and Bones. President George W. Bush, past president Bush senior and his father are all three proven initiates of this occult lodge based at a windowless mausoleum on the Yale campus. Why did John Kerry suddenly surge as the frontrunner?

Portlanders rally for California supermarket workers
Rally inside the store

Yesterday, a crowd of about 50 rallied at the Safeway at 1100 NE Broadway in Portland to support the 70,000 workers who have been locked out of Southern California supermarkets for insisting on keeping hard-fought health benefits in the face of austerity plans being imposed by the big supermarket chains. See here for previous feature.

Supporters marched into the store, up and down the aisles, chanting "Boycott Safeway!" and demanding fairness for workers and affordable health care for all...

A thick gloom has set in. As if beaten into submission by the corporatist media the dissidents among us have become increasingly silent. Bush's psychological war on Americans appears to have succeeded. We have become withdrawn, quiet and beneath the surface we smolder. Nary an anti-Bush bumper sticker can be seen, despite the fact that thousands are available online. Nary an anti-Bush button can be seen, though a Google search will reveal their availability. Unless you walk through the streets of Cambridge or Berkeley, you will see nothing of dissent and even there it is muffled.

Senator Kerry destroyed MIA (Missing in Action) documents, harmed Prisoner of War recovery?
Senator Kerry stated that he gave the order to destroy the documents, not the Staff Director, and that none of the Senators present at the meeting had objected. He also stated that the issue of document destruction was "moot" because the original briefing text had been deposited with the Office of Senate Security "all along." Both the Staff Director and the Chief Counsel supported this assertion by the Chairman.

On 9 April 1992, at the beginning of the meeting of the Select Committee and prior to the scheduled investigators' briefing, Senator McCain produced a copy of the intelligence briefing text, with whose contents he strongly disagreed. He charged that the briefing text had already been leaked to a POW/MIA activist, but was reassured by the Chairman that such was not the case. He replied that he was certain it would be leaked. Whereupon, the Chairman [Kerry] assured Senator McCain that there would be no leaks because all copies would be gathered and destroyed, and he gave orders to that effect. No senior staff member or attorney present cautioned against a possible violation of Title 18, U.S.C., Section 2071, or of Senate or Select Committee Rules.

INTERVIEW: Alexandra Robbins on BONES V. BONES 04? & Skull & Bones Kerry, & Bush MISOGYNY
Kerry's past brings him closer to Bush than any of the other candidates: both Bush and Kerry are members of a secretive society dating back to their respective days at Yale University - Skull and Bones. This secret society was a branch of a early 1800s German secret society, and has Hitler memoribilia in it. Bush and Kerry during their stay at Yale were eating off Hitler's planes and using his cutlery. This fact has not been widely reported but when Kerry's campaign spokesperson was asked about it, she said, "John Kerry has absolutely nothing to say on that subject. Sorry." ALEXANDRA ROBBINS is the New York Times bestselling author of Secrets of the Tomb: Skull and Bones, the Ivy League, and the Hidden Paths of Power who was formerly on the Washington, DC staff of The New Yorker magazine. She is a 1998 graduate of Yale and was the first reporter to publish George W Bush's transcript from Yale when he was a student there. KEVIN PHILLIPS interview excerpts as well. He is the author of "American Dynasty, Aristocracy, Fortune and the Politics Of Deceit in the House of Bush."

AMY GOODMAN: Although Bush was quoted as saying, and this was George Herbert Walker Bush, is that right, saying that women would be the downfall of Yale? ---- ALEXANDRA ROBBINS: That's George W. Bush. ---- AMY GOODMAN: George W.? ---- ALEXANDRA ROBBINS: George W. said in the 1980's, that -- to a woman who was a graduate of Yale -- that women would be the downfall of Yale. There are many other instances, some of which I point out in my book, that lead to -- lead one to assume that he voted against admitting women.

One other thing interesting about Kerry that I wanted to mention is that both of his wives have been directly related to members of Skull and Bones. A sister and daughter which is another connection to Skull and Bones that people don't usually know about.

In New Pool Of Jobs, Pay Has Taken A Dive
Years ago, we dismissed the idea that we were becoming an economy of low-paid burger flippers. Were we premature?

In every state but Nebraska and Nevada, new jobs created from 2001 to 2003 in expanding industries are paying less than jobs in dwindling lines of business. Using data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, researchers from the Economic Policy Institute found that industries nationwide are adding jobs that pay 21 percent - or $9,160 - less annually than industries losing jobs.

That's big: an average U.S. drop in pay from $44,570 to $35,410.
