Investigators seeking leads in Shaklee blast
A small bomb exploded at Shaklee Corp. headquarters in Pleasanton today, injuring no one and causing only minor damage. But questions remain whether the incident is the latest in a wave of suspected bombings by radical animal rights activists.

Shaklee is a subsidiary of the giant Japanese conglomerate Yamanouchi Holdings Group, which has been a major target of animal-rights groups. Ironically, the best-known animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, lists Shaklee as one of those companies that don't test their products on animals.

Public Interest Group Asks FCC to Deny Renewal of Clear Channel Broadcast Licenses
Essential Information, a DC-based public interest group that provides information to the public on important topics neglected by the mass media and policymakers, urged in a complaint to the FCC that Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio conglomerate, be denied license renewal for 63 stations it operates.

"The FCC is required by statute to deny applications for license renewal if a licensee exhibits poor character," said Jim Donahue, project director of Essential Information, which filed the complaint with the FCC. "In the three years since Clear Channel became the largest holder of station licenses in the nation, it has demonstrated that it lacks the requisite character to hold broadcast licenses," Donahue said, "and Clear Channel has compiled a record of repeated law-breaking."

Colin Powell calls US judeao-christian
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell called the United States a Judeo-Christian country but quickly amended that to "a country of many faiths".

The first amendment to the U.S. constitution prohibits the establishment of any state religion -- a provision usually interpreted as requiring strict separation of church and state, though Christian activists dispute that.

Powell made the remark in an interview on Monday with the Charlie Rose Show on public television while talking about Washington's vision of what kind of government Iraq should have.

He said he expected it to be "an Islamic country by faith, just as we are a Judeo-Christian..."
