Intellectual Property
Intellectual property rights are a ticking time bomb. It seems fairly obvious that artists wouldn't want their stuf sent around just anywhere for free, and without even knowing about it. It is less obvious that the same legal maneuvers are used to "patent" the genome of a rice plant or "own" someone's cell line (someone besides the new owner, that is.)

In any case, suing 12-year olds for copying songs seems like a good way to eliminate the desire for recorded music. Live music might inadvertently get a boost from all this

BRITISH OFFICIAL CHARGES US 'STOOD DOWN' ON 9/11
Hey, I wonder why the American media didn't cover this story which made headlines in Europe and around the world... Message to the American government: more and more people are waking up to what you did on 9-11. No amount disinformation, lies, and propaganda can stop the truth from coming out. All your shrill and self-righteous denials (see below) can cover up what must be one of the greatest crimes ever committed by a nation and government that has the gall to preach and posture about "freedom and democracy" to others. Make no mistake, a day of reckoning is coming for the American Empire and the American government in particular. Make Allah have mercy on your soul, because no one else will.

Donate money to George Bush. The message did not come from Republican campaign officials, but from top Bristol-Myers Squibb executives, according to four execs who say that during the 2000 presidential campaign, they each were told to donate the maximum - $1000 in their own name and $1000 in their spouse's - and if they failed to do so, their names would be forwarded to the company's then chief executive, Charles Heimbold.

And we are critical of the elected officials who are letting the neo-con agenda come to pass.....

And we go around in circles everytime some new lie, distortion, propaganda or outright crime against humanity occurs.....

But for the life of me......the one element in this whole mess that I can't figure out is WHY the American people are not only allowing this to happen, but are applauding it and egging it on. It just makes my brain spasm to think about it.

And the TRUTH of the matter is: if THE PEOPLE objected to what is happening, it would stop. The power of the govt is fueled by THE PEOPLE. So, why aren't they stopping this?

I ran across the excerpt from a book.....that really resonates with me........

Ignored by Congressional Representatives, Cities Take Up Call for Impeachment
Arcata, CA holds town hall meeting to discuss an impeachment resolution for pResident Bush. The resolution bases its call for impeachment on the grounds that Bush and Cheney lied to Congress and the American people about Iraq's WMD's, nuclear program and ties to al Qaeda in order to promote a war that was illegal under the United Nations Charter and therefore, also under the United States Constitution. Such lies and prosecution of an illegal war meet the constitutional requirement for impeachment as "high crimes and misdemeanors," and in light of the continuing slaughter of both Iraqis and Americans, seem far more serious than Clinton's lies concerning his sexual exploits in the Oval Office.

The Collapse of the Middle Class
There has always been a wealthy elite in this country, and there has always been a gap between the rich and the poor. But the disparities in wealth and income that currently exist in this country have not been seen in over a hundred years. Today, the richest 1 percent own more wealth than the bottom 95 percent, and the CEOs of large corporations earn more than 500 times what their average employees make. The nation's 13,000 wealthiest families, 1/100th of one percent of the population, receive almost as much income as the poorest 20 million families in America.
