How much control do you have over your future?

I have just one question about your parties program: how do the Greens plan to combat global capitalism?
Yes they have many great positions on issues not addressed by the main stream, but how do they prevent outsourcing of jobs? falling wages? lost pensions and insurance?
If your answer is that they will fix the above problems within the framework of capitalism, I would like to make a wager to see how fast international investment leaves this country- and the economy crashes. More likely however, the Greens will do what the did in Germany when they gained power: become a pathetic reform party much like the Democrats, throwing an occasional alternative bone to its constituents do retain a fraction of credibility. Lets avoid that trap eh?
If a political party is not staunchly anti-capitalism, it is not even addressing the issue.
Shocking! Incredible! Play and win self-esteem! See if you are smarter than the entire Bush cabinet!
You all ready for at least 20 more years of this fake "war on terror?"

Most depressing place on earth not a 'place'; but a state of mind. Where the very idea of happiness or even -life- itself is simply a dream. Conquered long ago the minds enslave themsleves.
The first issue of "The Warrior Wind," a newsletter against our society of confinement, is out now.
The State of the Union speech Tuesday night was a typically choreographed affair in which George W. Bush appeared before a fawning audience and an uncritical media to deliver a stale rehash of the lies which the administration has employed to justify the war in Iraq and its attacks on democratic rights at home.
Nowhere in the Capitol chamber was there any expression of the mass popular opposition to the war in Iraq or the mounting concerns of American working people about the deepening social and economic crisis. Instead, Bush's audience consisted of the Washington establishment, the political representatives of the ruling financial aristocracy, a majority of them millionaires in their own right.
Apparently the World is Going to Have to Wait
Last night we attended the "Bush Step Down" demonstration in Seattle. We woke this morning anxiously anticipating the dawning of a new era. Imagine our disappointment as we opened the morning paper. Isn't it time we started addressing these "actions" with some critical thought?

Cindy Sheehan has released a statement about what really happened when she was arrested yesterday in the gallery of the House of Representatives, shortly before Bush entered to give his State of the Union speech.
"There have been lies from the police and distortions by the press."
Her statement has been posted at Michael Moore's website. Here it is.
Cindy Sheehan has been arrested and pulled out of the gallery by Capitol Hill police just before Bush's entrance for the J31 "SOTU" (State of the Union) address.
Sheehan was the invited guest of U.S. Representative Lynn Woolsey. The cause of arrest was Sheehan's action in unfurling a banner.

Scholars for 9/11 Truth call for verification and publication by an international consortium.
Duluth, MN (PRWEB) January 30, 2006 -- A group of distinguished experts and scholars, including Robert M. Bowman, James H. Fetzer, Wayne Madsen, John McMurtry, Morgan Reynolds, and Andreas von Buelow, have concluded that senior government officials have covered up crucial facts about what really happened on 9/11.
Cindy Sheehan is back in Washington, D.C. She appeared at a Forum, on Jan. 30, 2006, proposing the impeachment of both President George W. Bush and his vice-president-in-mayhem, Dick Cheney. Sheehan believes Bush's election in 2000, by the Supreme Court was illegitimate and that his abrogating to himself Congress's war making powers to invade Iraq was unconstitutional. Congress won't do anything, Sheehan said, "unless we make them" do it.
The cowardly and calculating decision by 19 Democrats who voted to block a filibuster against the Alito Supreme Court appointment (and by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, who didn't vote) was a betrayal of liberal principles that should be rewarded by primary challenges for all those facing election in '06.
The Senate voted by a 72-25 margin on Monday afternoon to close debate on the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel Alito. The number voting for cloture was well above the 60 required to halt a filibuster. The 44 Democrats were divided nearly evenly, with 19 voting to close debate, while 25 voted to allow it to continue.
The final vote on Alito is scheduled for Tuesday morning, in time for him to be approved before Bush's State of the Union address in the evening. Alito is assured to pass, as he requires approval from only a majority of the senators. A preliminary vote tally indicates that he has the support of 54 Republicans, in addition to at least four Democrats.

Is Bush Stupid -- Or Is America?
By Robert Parry
January 18, 2006
Many Americans believe George W. Bush is uninformed, simpleminded and, in a single word, stupid. But there is a different way to look at the evidence and conclude that while Bush may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, it is he who thinks the American people are the real dullards.
A retrospective on terrorism in the U.S. and its deeper function and meaning
The tried and true methods of speeches and protests still work today, but with limited success. For example, a politician sees a motivating speech and on most occasions, nods his head and nothing is resolved. If you want to resolve important issues in our communities, you got to think like a bureaucrat.
And a question must be addressed; what new forms political expressions are more effective as catalysts for change?

The Democrats need to pull together and filibuster Alito's confirmation. It only takes one senator to filibuster, but it takes 40 (out of 45 Democrats, plus the spare Republican here and there), to support his/her right to do so and keep the floor open.

Coyotl Tezcalipoca wanted to wrap up his speech with a dramatic flourish, and a police chokehold helped him get there more quickly.
On Jan. 3, Tezcalipoca, a 25-year-old from Santa Ana, stood before the Costa Mesa City Council and berated them for approving a motion that would allow the city's police to check on anyone's immigration status. Proponents and other opponents of the ordinance also spoke that night. Most used the full three minutes Mayor Allan Mansoor allowed for public comments.
But just a little over two minutes into Tezcalipoca's speech, Mansoor cut him off. "I'm not finished," Tezcalipoca protested. Three officers quickly surrounded the podium; Tezcalipoca turned to leave but stopped short when one of the officers grabbed his arm. "Don't touch me!" Tezcalipoca told the officers. The stand-off lasted briefly, until Costa Mesa Police Chief John Hensley, dressed in something like a baby blue Hollywood Suit Broker ensemble, leaned into the little circle and said something to his men. The three officers suddenly, forcefully grabbed Tezcalipoca and removed him from the council chambers. KABC-TV video shows they placed him in a chokehold and dragged him into the Costa Mesa Jail (conveniently located next door) as an officer kneeled on Tezcalipoca's back (see video of the incident here; link courtesy of immigrationwatchdog.com). Officers booked him on suspicion of disturbing an assembly, interfering with a council meeting and resisting an officer.
this is a document that seems to have some idea that I think could be important.
It took only approximately 5% of the population to begin the push for America's first independence in the 1700's. We are fast
approaching that critical mass point yet again. Legal scholar Richard Cornforth has reported that the figure that may be needed this time around, will be as little as 3% of the U.S. population.
