Democracy and Freedom are Blooming in Afghanistan!
Afghan leader Hamid Karzai has held top-secret talks with members of the former Taliban government. The dramatic move could see a return to power of some of the most senior members of the Taliban, once described by Tony Blair as the most evil, brutal regime in the world.... Although it is quite clear President Karzai's initiative was done with the backing of the Bush Administration, White House spin doctors also remained unusually muted in their response to the meeting. A senior delegation of Taliban, led by Mullah Abbas, slipped in to Kabul for the top-secret talks several days ago after being given assurances of their personal security as some are thought to be on America's "wanted" list.

Overcoming Violence
"I compare this new movement with the early battles for the abolition of slavery in the 18th century..At that time a hundred years were needed to abolish slavery, end child labor and introduce minimum wages..Justice is the basic condition for peace..Justice and peacve belong together but justice comes first. Globalization from above is a barbaric system of impoverishment of the majority of humankind and destruction of the earth. We need a different economic globalization from below.." From the German

Public Order and Market Laws
This essay focuses on the erosion of international law in international relations and the undermining of democratic and social standards in the nation states of the First world. The author urges reflection on the ideas and vlaues of civil society as "weapons" in the struggle against "global domination" instead of a military race with the US..The Vietnamese people, the Algerian people and the African people won their wars of liberation...with the idea of emancipation. Fidel's trip to Argentina
A Must Read for all Antiwar Activists and Progressives in general.
The hour is late, and it's time to get down to brass tacks: there is no legitimate critique of the "War on Terror", no legitimate anti-war position, which does not place discussion of the 9/11 cover-up and the impresive evidence for US government complicity in the spotlight — front and center. To claim a dissident or anti-war position while accepting the official story of how and why 9/11 happened (including establishment-crafted "limited hangout" spin) is a self-contradiction — hypocrisy, to be blunt — and this has in fact been the case since around the end of 2001, by which time a formidable body of evidence and unanswered questions exposing offical lies had already been amassed by dilligent independent researchers.

the Super Rich are Out Of Sight
The top 0.25 percent owns more wealth than the other 99¾ percent combined . . . the Census Bureau revealed that for years they never interviewed anyone who had an income higher than $300,000. Or if interviewed, they were never recorded as above the "reportable upper limit" of $300,000 allowed by the bureau's computer program. In 1994, the bureau lifted the upper limit to $1 million--still excluding the very richest who own the lion's share of the wealth, the hundreds of billionaires and thousands of multimillionaires who make many times more than $1 million a year. The super rich simply have been computerized out of the picture.

Although this nomination is for the ISM as a whole, three young individuals merit particular recognition for the courage and resolve they displayed in their acts of non-violent civil disobedience in defence of peace and human rights in the Palestinian Occupied Territories.
These individuals are Brian Avery and Tom Hurndall, who miraculously survived sniper shots to the head by Israeli forces while they were defending Palestinian civilians from Israeli troops, and Rachel Corrie, who was crushed to death by an Israeli Defence Force bulldozer while attempting to prevent the demolition of the home of an innocent Palestinian family.

Shopping, the End of the World, & Bush

The car--or SUV--has become a basic capital good which our system must mass produce. The very act of producing gas burning vehicles, however, conflicts with the future of human life on the plant--global warming, ozone layer depletion etc... Bush's policies exacerbate the environmental issue. Instead of confronting this reality, Bush and his followers pray that the end will soon come. Perhaps his troublesome teenage twins contribute to his desire to bring it all to an end.

HO-HUM. CIA MEETING WITH OSAMA BIN LADEN IN JULY 2001 IS CONFIRMED
This article published in Nov. 2001 confirms the original story published by Le Figaro in Oct. 2001which asserts that the CIA met with Usama Bin Laden in a Dubai hospital in July 2001--two short months before 9-11. Though the original story was of course denied by the Pentagon and the hospital management, no such denials were ever issued by the attending physician in charge. This article seems to confirm the fact that the CIA did indeed meet with their asset. No doubt to consult with him about impending plans for Sept. 11.
