Germany: 16 000 Gather to stop the Castor transport
8 November - A crowd of 16 000 people demonstrated against the Castor transport in Gorleben today, marching through the town and eventually settling just outside of it, near to the gates of the "Zwischenlager" - the temporary nuclear waste disposal site (also located in Gorleben) - to listen to speeches and music. Madsen, a very popular band, ended the event to a very lively and dance-happy crowd.

Realities after the dollar and before the Revolution
The following article from Le Monde Diplomatique (not available on-line without subscription) is useful. These extracts jumped out at me:

"Only the combination of acknowledged economic power and an attractive, original political vision could overthrow the prevailing system or allow all its participants to be treated as equals" and "we are still a long way from a united front with the capacity to impose new international rules or dethrone the dollar and its institutional props, the IMF and the World Bank."

For "we are still a long way off" I would like to suggest we must read "revolution"; meaning sustained & decentralised simultaneous organisation on a national/transnational scale.

Escalating U.S. Attacks Stir Opposition and Outrage in Pakistan
Secular-minded workers, students, professionals, and concerned citizens joined a mass protest in the streets of Karachi, demanding an immediate end to the deadly raids by U.S. forces on Pakistani villages from bases in Afghanistan. The current U.S. policy of shifting combat focus from Iraq to the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, apparently backed by both Republicans and Democrats, is galvanizing Pakistani public opinion decisively against the U.S. (Photos by Abira Ashfaq and Faris)

How To Stop A Nuclear Waste Train. Impressions From Germany
the waste Good news: 20 000 police trying to prevent countless anti-nuclear waste activists (supported by inhabitants of hundreds of villages and towns) from stopping the castor transport train weren´t able to stop THEM: a couple of activists managed to stop the train not far away from the french border for hours by chaining themselves to the rails.

The following is a portrait of a very famous and traditional event within the anti-Castor activist's agenda: the forest „game" called the „Ralley Monte Göhrde".

Some Iranians believe the regime is using the last days of the White House Torturer to carry out as much murder and oppression as possible. For the last eight years, the regime in Tehran has pointed the finger at Washington in the face any and all international critique over its awful human rights record.

"It is tragic that Iran is continuing to kill juvenile offenders. Iran urgently needs to end its isolated position and abolish these executions."

Interesting report on Human rights in Iran
very grim. sounds a lot like what our government has done in the past to natives, blacks, Japanese and now the environmentalists.
but, now that Obama is in maybe Iranian and American social activists can get together and rid Tehran of the Neo-Con supported regime. After all it was Reagan and Bush in 1979-1980 who ushered in the crazy Mullahs rather than the socialist interim govt of Dr Bakhtiar(supported by Carter).

Che Guevera's daughter left a "socialism" conference in Iran after lambasting the regime for spreading misinformation about her father's religion or lack there of. Iran's government has managed to develop a socialist image when in fact it is a society run by religious clerics with an iron fist. It also is a capitalist society where the vast majority of the wealth is in an incrasingly few hands.
Sound familiar?

The Destroyed Reputation of The United States Federal Government
The United States Federal Government started destroying it's reputation decades ago. Property confiscation and forced development because of taxes is "the norm" in the United States. I have watched as many people who have lived on their property for decades and even generations, have it stolen by the United States Federal Government.
