The Colombian government, in their "fake rescue" of Ingrid Betancourt and US Mercenaries, are such a sophisticated covert ops team that they accidentally filmed their own war crime.
The financial crisis deepens with the nationalization of IndyMac and the likely bailout of Freddie Mac and Fannie May by the US taxpayer. The financial crisis has company as inflation, and in particular huge increases in global food and energy prices, enters the fray.
The American economic model has been discredited and the American century has lasted but a few decades. These developments have and will further open up a new period in the struggle between capital and labor on the world stage and the US working class will have a major role to play as it re-connects with its militant traditions.

In their 2008/9 Antarctic Anti-Whaling quest Sea Shepherd will call on the spirit of the 17th century Japanese Warrior "Musashi". Although the correct application of "Musashi's" principles of combat in the Whaling/Anti-Whaling conflict would swing success toward Sea Shepherd it is most unlikely that the organization has the strength to do so.
Two videos of a torture-training session with the police force of León, Guanajuato shocked the Mexican public last week and raised serious questions about human rights under the Calderon offensive against organized crime. For readers with strong stomachs, the videos can be found here.
The videos leaked by the local paper El Heraldo de León hit the media just one day after President Bush signed into law a $400 million aid package to support President Felipe Calderon's war on drugs and organized crime. The tapes show graphic images of torture techniques used on victims who city officials claim were volunteers from the police force. In one, a debilitated victim is insulted and dragged through his own vomit. In another, a victim receives shots of mineral water up the nose and has his head forced into a pit of "rats and excrement."
Scientist are studying computers dreams. It is really intense stuff. Kind of boggling at times. Will we ever understand 1/3 of our life our are we doomed to repeat it over and over and over again... computers may help to uncode the world of dreams...
An Italian court has found 15 officials guilty of mistreating and torturing protesters following violent demonstrations at G8 meeting in the city of Genoa in 2001.
A judge handed down prison sentences ranging from five months to five years to the accused - who include police, prison officials and two doctors. Another 30 defendants were cleared of charges, including assault.
System criticism is repressed in many ways. Private vice does not bring public virtue. Everyone pursuing self-interest does not usher in public welfare. Inequality, competition, growth and market fundamentalism are not panaceas or inevitabilities but false securities.
At key points in history the state and ruling class have directly utilized the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups as an instrument of terror, yet recently it has also seen necessary to attempt to reign in these tendencies, with differing levels of success. As the white nationalist Right grew increasingly militant into the 1990s, the Clinton government launched very real attacks on the militia movement and the militant wing of the anti-abortion movement. The rise and terror of,"The Order,(
http://www.freetheorder.org/)" serial killings of abortion doctors, the shoot-out at Ruby Ridge, the Oklahoma City bombing all provide evidence of the potentially insurgent capabilities of these movements, and the state's need to confront it.
This has occurred as a new, internationalist and globalized capitalism has emerged, and concurrently, the structures of white supremacy have shifted. The new, "multicultural" face of the state and official institutions under this new regimen now find tensions with an old form of white supremacy still fostered by nationalist elements. Although the leadership and core of these elements appear to be composed of a dying 'middle' class (landlords, cops, real estate agents and dentists), their pandering appeals to new fears and lingering white supremacist notions within white workers. Many of these groupings, initially supported by or even formed by agents of Capital and the US State, now find themselves in (or moving towards an increasingly) anti-government stances.
I believe there are now more people on the watchlist than are actual people who use terror as a means of social and political manipulation (fear)
Now in the aftermath of a No vote the real reasons for the so called EU treaty (which is in fact a constitution for europe) are increasingly being made public despite the difficulty in getting these topics on the agenda even now as the Irish government 'reflects'. The rejection of the treaty has caused a headache for those politicians who favour EU unification, a unified EU military and further free trade liberalization.

Australia. Yesterday, people from the camp chained themselves to a coal train, blocking access to Carrington coal terminal for most of the day and costing the company an estimated 1.2 million US dollars. Today, more climate camp activists are blocking work at the world's largest coal port at Kooragang.
Around 1,200 people today took direct action to stop the disastrous environmental impact of the world's biggest coal port in Newcastle. The spirited and colourful protest was made up of a diverse mix of people including families, coal workers and activists ... even some zombies were spotted. A number of people made it on to the rail line and coal transport in Newcastle was shut down for the entire day. This is a victory for everyone disappointed by the government's inaction in the face of the biggest environmental crisis we have ever seen – instead of phasing out coal, the NSW Government last year gave coal companies permission to more than double their exports from Newcastle to 211 million tonnes per year. Coal exports are Australia's biggest contribution to climate change and the greenhouse pollution from our coal exports exceeds all of our domestic pollution combined.
The high oil price and the food crisis threaten the existence of over a hundred million people. (Walden Bello) "People in rich countries must starve so the rich can continue driving their cars." Growing plants for biofuels is a crime against humanity.
Spirituality is a new consciousness and allegiance based on interdependence, a way of resistance to militarism and greed. Resistance is part of our nature as antibodies are part of our bodies. As carrots and beans can grow together, people can coexist. Diversity is not a threat.
Andy Worthington, author of "The Guantánamo Files", reports on the latest developments relating to the British Overseas Territory of Diego Garcia: the exiled islanders' latest salvo in their 40-year pursuit of justice, and the British government's failure to tackle its US allies over the use of Diego Garcia for "extraordinary rendition" flights.

Poverty can only be overcome globally. A change in perspective is necessary where social assistance is seen as positive and not negative. Social stability and public spirit require sacrifice and redistribution, love of life and trust in the social project.

this is to Barak Obama who wants to only listen to his "Con Tributes" or also known as picking up the undecided vote. I vote no. How about that FISA? How about that death penalty? Gun laws? How about I vote NO Obama? No CON tributors> no moderates > justice is just us.....
The concept of class is fundamental to the anarchist understanding of society. The goal of anarchist communism is to create a classless society where everyone is on an equal footing, where all have equal access to wealth and contribute to society as best they can. Why then do anarchists argue that only the working class has the power to create a free and equal society? Many figures in the economic and political elite argue that we now live in a classless society. While it is true that class as an economic and social phenomenon has changed as capitalism has developed, this is not to say that we are no longer divided by class, just that the boundaries and definitions have become more complex.
The problem is that a large part of US real estate financing, the so-called subprime market for real estate credits to poor borrowers, functioned according to the model of a chain letter. Radical redistribution, national and international, is the command of the hour.

Confirmation that radioactive brine has been leaking for two decades from a German underground deposit for nuclear waste is yet another blow to the idea that nuclear power can safely increase electricity generation and simultaneously reduce emissions.
"If you look at the course of western history you'll see that we're slowly granting basic rights to everyone. A long time ago only kings had rights. Then rights were extended to property-owning white men. Then all men. Then wymyn [women]. Then children. Then the mentally retarded. Now we're agonizing over the extension of basic rights to animals. We need to finally accept that all sentient creatures are deserving of basic rights." -- Moby (1)

I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, find that the current existence and risk of the proliferation of weapons-usable fissile material on the Korean Peninsula constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.
Like many other countries, Kenya provided its own staple foods until the 1980s. Today the country imports 80% of its food. To buy up the entire grain harvest of the US, only $120 billion is needed-a small amount for the speculators on the currency market.
I have yet to see the corporate press acknowlege the fact that Ingrid Betancourt is a Green Party member and representative.

"Philosophy has a very important role to play in the Age of Globalization. Carping about the need for social change, or protesting publicly against certain policies, is simply dismissed as irrelevant and unproductive. Utopian suggests all realities are at root imaginary.."
On Canada Day morning bombs made with gas cans and timed incendiaries were left along with a warning painted on the wall at the office of Frontenac Ventures Corporation in Oakville. This is a mining company one of whose projects is uranium mining in the area of Sharbot Lake. Despite local opposition by native and non-native peoples they continue to destroy territory and lives that they have no claim to.
In order to understand the "rescue operation" of Ingrid Betancourt and the Northrop Grumman Corporation mercenaries who were released with her, it is necessary to piece together articles published in the media, filter the content and out of this is formed a true understanding of the facts of what happened here.

Martin Luther King called us to a radical revolution of values, from a thing-oriented to a person-oriented society. Like community centers, the basic income could have multiplier effects. The price of oil rose three-fold in four years. Lifestyles and priorities must change.

"Global Disruption" More Accurately Describes Climate Change, Not "Global Warming"-Leading Scientist John Holdren
Leading scientist John Holdren says "global warming" is not the correct term to use; he prefers "global disruption." "'Global warming' [is] misleading. It implies something that's mainly about temperature, that's gradual, and that's uniform across the planet," says Holdren. "In fact, temperature is only one of the things that's changing. It's a sort of an index of the state of the climate. The whole climate is changing: the winds, the ocean currents, the storm patterns, snow packs, snowmelt, flooding, droughts. Temperature is just a bit of it." [includes rush transcript] Guest: John Holdren, professor of environmental policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is the director of the Woods Hole Research Center and just completed a term as board chair of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
