Mohamed Atta & Samson
This is the story of two men. Both of them killed three thousand people in a suicidal act of vengeance by demolishing what they took to be a sacrilegious temple. One of them is commonly derided as a murderous psychopath; the other is commonly celebrated as a hero.

How the war was spun

Just three months ago, at the time Sheldon Rampton and John Stauber finished writing "Weapons of Mass Deception", this would have sounded fringe flaky. Not now, though. The more you read of this detailed and comprehensively sourced book, the more compelling it gets. And the post-mortems being conducted in the US and Britain keep confirming more and more of their detail.
If you are looking for a comprehensive primer on the way the Iraq war was spun, this book is it.

Conflicts are Pre-Programmed
"Problems are not usually solved by themselves. When left unconsidered for a long time, they frequently become greater..The social development on our planet illustrates this simple observation..In Richard Estes' Quality of Life study, the US is still at the development state of 1980 and is presently on the same level as Poland or Slovenia./ Poverty is the greatest threat to progress."

No Privatization of Water, Education and Health Care through the GATS Backdoor
"The water supply, education and health care are much too important to be left to private corporations..The economy and industry are pressing to open Austria's water supply to private multinationals. `A privatization of such important services has negative effects on employees and consumers. We want a modernization and improvement of these areas instead of a sell out.''"

Is Torture Beginning to Pay? Saddam Aide on WMD
A genuinely disarmed Saddam apparently didn't want to look like easy pickins, but naturally it gets spun into an evil strategy to "divide the world." Torture must be beginning to off pay if Saddam's aide is actually willing to help make Saddam's own reluctant compliance into the lastest fall guy for the tragic, outrageous mistakes of the Bush administration.

Will the Real Howard Dean Please Stand Up? Don't hold your breath
In 1995, Vermont reporters were writing stories suggesting that Dean actually delighted in the confusion about his ideological leanings. In 1995, after making a round of national news shows, Dean seemed almost to brag: "These guys think they're getting a raving liberal. And then they find out I'm not a raving liberal. I'm kind of in the middle and, for example, I'm in favor of workfare. Then they sort of don't know what to say. All the questions they've carefully written down to fry me go out the window."

Halliburton Iraq contract queried

Halliburton's subsidiary, Kellogg Brown & Root, has been given reconstruction contracts worth almost $500m so far--without any competition.
Rather than opening contracts to tender, the US government has used a Halliburton contract won in 2001 to place new orders for troop support work in Iraq. The Bush administration has denied that the Houston-based firm received preferential treatment.

The War On Truth

The verboten truth is that the unprovoked attack on Iraq and the looting of its resources is America's 73rd colonial intervention.
Americans, says Time magazine, live in "an eternal present". The point is, they have no choice. The "mainstream" media are now dominated by Rupert Murdoch's Fox television network, which had a good war. The leading 20 internet sites are now owned by the likes of Fox, Disney, AOL Time Warner and a clutch of other giants. Just 14 companies attract 60 per cent of the time all American web-users spend online.

PENTAGON HAD PLANNED TO ESTABLISH A FUTURES MARKET IN TERROR.
The Pentagon originally attempted to establish a Futures Market in Terrorism. Given the fact that America and the US military in particular are the greatest terrorists on this planet, why is not a suprise?
"The latest revelation of depravity at the highest levels of the Bush administration—the exposure of a Pentagon plan to establish a futures market in terrorist attacks, assassinations and military strikes—is yet one more demonstration of the criminal character of the forces that wield power in America."

Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Committee [USA] interview with the NDFSK
Its predecessor is the Revolutionary Party for Reunification founded on August 25, 1969. The RPR renamed itself into the NDFSK on July 27, 1985 to cope with the changing situation and requirement of the Party's development. Thus it has developed into a mass party. Hardly coerced by the US imperialism and its stooges who regard the entity of the NDFSK as a thorn in their flesh, the NDFSK vanguards are in underground condition. They, however, have their representative missions in Pyongyang where they are protected by the northern brethren of the same blood, same idea and aim as well as in Japan where a naked suppression of the south Korean authorities is impossible. You may keep your contact with the NDFSK via our missions in Pyongyang and in Japan.

Pentagon War Machine: CIA Probe Points to the Office of Special Plans

A half-dozen former CIA agents investigating prewar intelligence said the Office of Special Plans is responsible for providing the National Security Council and Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice and Rumsfeld with a bulk of the intelligence information on Iraq's weapons program that turned out to be wrong. But White House officials used the information it received from the Office of Special Plans to win support from the public and Congress to start a war in Iraq even though the White House knew much of the information was dubious.

Greg Thielmann, who worked until last fall as a proliferation expert in the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, explains, "This administration has had a faith-based intelligence attitude: 'We know the answers, give us the intelligence to support those answers.'" September 11th gave them the opportunity, and now they're in heaven. They believe the intelligence [justifying war on Iraq] is there. They want to believe it. It has to be there."
