By Bill Van Auken 02.05.2006 21:36
Washington renews demand for cuts to Social Security, Medicare
The Bush administration, echoed by much of the mass media, seized upon reports released May 1 on the fiscal health of the Social Security and Medicare system to renew its demand for drastic cuts to these two major entitlement programs, thereby gutting retirement benefits and health care for older Americans.
According to the reports, issued by the trustees of the programs' trust funds, the Medicare Hospital Insurance Trust Fund is projected to become insolvent by 2018, due largely to rapidly rising costs of American health care outstripping the payroll taxes that fund the program.
The report on Social Security indicates that this program will be able to pay out 100 percent of benefits until 2040, when the trustees predict the fund will be exhausted—a year earlier than previous projections. After that it would be able to cover 74 percent of promised benefits out of revenues until 2080, when it would decline to 70 percent.

36 US House Reps Want Bush Impeachment Probe- Conyers not pursuing illegal wiretapping
Who is congress representing? John Conyers introduced this right after the illegal wiretapping revelations

I think that many more congresspeople would sign on if the impeachment resolution was about the illegal wiretapping only. The case for impeachment over illegal wiretapping is cut and dry. Bush admitted to breaking the law on national TV and has said he will continue to do so.

When this information came to light, everyone was in an uproar and the momentum was so moving toward immediate impeachment. Remember Nixon?

When Rep. Conyers introduced this resolution right afterward everyone assumed it was about illegal wiretapping. Conyers and his staff were perfectly capable of adding on something about the recent revelations but chose not to. Rep. Conyers has been speaking out in public forums etc pretending he is pursuing accountability on illegal wiretapping when he has yet to include it. Why not introduce a new resolution since the the other one is only for a committee to investigate Iraq? We don't need a committee to investigate illegal wiretapping because Bush admitted it. The law is clear and he broke it. He needs to introduce articles of impeachment NOW and let WE THE PEOPLE raise our voices in agreement.

Bush is a coward who cannot handle dissent. He would be forced to resign or at least it would slow down his march to Iran. I think John Conyer's is stalling for Bush, pulling a bait and switch. And if he wants to show he truly is the opposition he will introduce a resolution that might actually work. I asked John Conyers about this on a huffingtonpost, and he responded like he was all offended, but did not answer my question about why he has not offered a resolution on illegal wiretapping. He is working for Bush.

John Conyers, Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee had no reason to support the recent "Iran Freedom Support Act" yet they all voted yes. What is up with that?

In the following article, you can see how Dr. Sahib Mustaqim Bleher, a brave Muslim pilot,

93 episode was to add a "human element" to the false flag operation, in order to make it
more convincing (the "expert crack team" of "hijackers" somehow didn't crash "Flight 93" in
to whatever target the fairy tale could have designated for it).

May Day returns to its roots
It still is -- now, in fact, it's observed globally. Except, ironically, in the land of the holiday's birth. The holiday's burgeoning popularity led Congress, in 1894, to establish "Labor Day" in September to honor American workers -- a holiday established, not by ordinary workers themselves as an expression of empowerment, but by big business and their Congressional apologists as a way to try to dictate what workers were and weren't allowed to celebrate. One day belonged to the workers; the other 365 to big business, and we were to work as many hours of those days as business pleased.
