Pentagon Gets Coffin, While Protesters Get Arrested!

Activists marched on the Pentagon, on March 20, 2006. In a direct action, a symbolic coffin was hoisted over a fence by the protesters at the facility, located in northern Virginia, just opposite Washington, D.C. About 20 demonstrators were arrested. The "Iraq Pledge of Resistance" organization sponsored the event on the third anniversary of the bloodbath in Iraq. A prayer was also offered near the Pentagon to honor all of the Iraqi dead.

"Terrorist Creep"--the 'Terrorization' of Criminal and Free Speech Acts
In response to the Green Scare of Operation Backfire, the Portland NLG, the Northwest Constitutional Rights Center, and the First Unitarian Church present a panel discussion about the impact of re-characterizing crimes as "domestic terrorism" solely because of the political message allegedly associated with the crimes. It is important not to let the government frame this issue and brand mere criminal acts (property crimes and sabotage) as acts of domestic terrorism.

The Most Beautiful Fireworks I Have Ever Seen: Remembering M19
March 19, 2006 was a beautiful sunny day. So sunny I decided to leave for the rally early. When I reached the waterfront a little after one o'clock, I was surprised to see a crowd already around one to two thousand people. I saw some familiar faces and made my rounds. Everyone I spoke to felt the rally was not going to get us out of Iraq any sooner, but everyone seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.

PORTLAND RESIDENTS DARED TO “THINK OUTSIDE THE BOTTLE": March 21st Press Event
Portland students, community, business, and religious leaders are organizing a Tap Water Challenge, daring city residents to put on blindfolds and try to tell the difference between tap water, Coke's Dasani, Pepsi's Aquafina and Nestlé's Arrowhead. Nation-wide tap water challenges are scheduled to take place throughout next week, leading up to the United Nation's World Water Day on March 22. Passersby will be asked to sample four cups of water blindfolded. Two cups will contain tap water drawn from different public taps and two will contain brand-name bottled water. The events are part of a national "Think Outside the Bottle" campaign launched by Corporate Accountability International to challenge the marketing muscle of the bottled water industry.

This Green will be putting everything I have behind Jim Hill. I'll be changing my registration to Democrat so that I can vote for Jim Hill in the primary. It was so much fun listening to the passion of members make this plea. It was a major union democracy step to make this decision. Report from the M19 Rally and March
I attended the rally today, listened to the speakers, and marched with the thousands of people who did the same. I surely appreciate the creative spirit of all those who made costumes, signs, banners, danced, drummed, and chanted. I hugged friends and comrades, shared moments of recognition with other activists who have also attended many rallies and protests, who have worked long hours, and who have felt the heavy hand of police repression.

Oregonian's BIG weekend editorial section on Iraq War
The Oregonian sank to new depths this weekend marking the third anniversary of the U.S. War in Iraq. As hundreds of thousands marched around the world protesting peacefully against this war, The Oregonian led off its Opinion section with the huge type, "Crossroads or dead end?" Below were imbedded two, supposedly alternative views along the line of that heading, with a third innocuous title of an opinion piece on page B5, "Are we losing an unwinnable, unjustified war?"

M19 Pics and Report

I showed up a little bit late, around 2:00 or so. On the way into town on the MAX, I noticed something I never see on my way to protest: other protestors on the move! Comming in from suburbia, there were about 10 other people on the train on their way to the rally. All through town people were converging. When I finally arrived at the waterfront, I couldn't belive my eyes: there were thousands upon thousands of people; more than I had ever seen at a rally anywhere. My initial estimate was about 10,000-15,000 but people kept flooding the park while the speakers spoke so by the time we marched there must have been 20,000-40,000 people. It was amazing.

March 18, 911 Truth Movement Contingent in SF

No. California 911 Truth Alliance and supporters were out spreading the word at the March 18 Anti-War Rally in San Francisco. Holding Signs saying "Neo-Con Jobs: Iraq and 9/11" and passing out information cards, the truth movement hopes to dispell the 911 lie that got the "war on terror" started. By providing well-researched papers, books and websites we hope to discredit the official narrative and the rational for permanent war.
