Nuremberg 2006
At Nuremberg, crimes against the peace were defined to include the "planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression, or a war in violation of international treaties." In view of everything now known to the whole world, can anyone deny that a large number of the leaders and important private cheerleaders of the Bush administration constitute the "leaders, organizers, instigators, and accomplices participating in the formulation or execution of a Common Plan or Conspiracy to commit" a war of aggression against Iraq?

Film 'Germinal' Resounds With Insights For Today's Challenges
I saw this French film years ago, but have been re-watching such films of late, seeing that i have a very different take on them than when i was much younger. Watching this one (with English subtitles) brought some gems of thinking through things that i fear are not being thought through adequately in the current crisis in France and soon (?) to be elsewhere, surely.

Portland Legal Defense Network call out for VIDEO SHOT NOV 2
We are going to have copies of the video shot by legal observers. We would like to have copies of any other video out there. We can get copies to Criminal Defense Lawyers. We really need to start pooling video in one or more places. In the past video has not been shared between Attorney's so it is important to make sure that we organize what we have and make sure it is available to anyone who needs it. It should also be available to the general public.

France reaps what it sows; AND neocon French Pres. Contender Sarkozy benefits from chaos
10+ days of rioting, as France reaps what it sows; AND neocon Pres. contender Sarkozy has little incentive to quell riots, and may be using it intentionally sow France as a police state for his upcoming election bid to scare the French people into his neocon camp, after they rejected the neocon EU constitution recently...

Two articles on the French riots--not in my opinion mutually exclusive. First a "functionalist" and structural demographic racism view of issues on the history of French minorities and how the French state has mistreated them in urban space and totally unequal politics; then, a window into political strategic issues of the surreal double appointent of "Sarko", simultaneously Ministry of the Interior (police) and Minister of Religion! Sarkovy is a neocon and he has ties to Bush and right-wing Israeli Likud.....

Who benefits from letting the riots spread, why Sarkozy himself--as upcoming Presidential Contender of France.

"The Socialists, Greens, and Communists are charging Sarkozy with inciting greater violence and then failing to respond to it adequately, thus ensuring the rioting would spread beyond mainly Muslim areas in Paris to wealthier Parisian neighborhoods and beyond Paris...."

Ingenious: the riot expansion is basically Sarkozy's election bid.

"...majority of the country, empoisoned even more by racism after the violence of the last ten days, seems willing to accept more and more repression: a poll released last night on France 2 public TV shows that 57% of the French support Nicolas Sarkozy's hard-line approach to the ghetto youths' rebellion, now spreading right across France. Sarko's demagogy seems to be working -- at least with the electorate -- but it won't stop the violence, it will only increase it."

WHY FRANCE IS BURNING
Saturday night was the 10th day of the spreading youth riots that have much of France in flames -- and it was the worst night ever since the first riot erupted in a suburban Paris ghetto of low-income housing, with 1295 vehicles -- from private cars to public buses -- burned last night, a huge jump from the 897 set afire the previous evening. [THIS night, the night from sunday to monday another 1500 cars burned, not to talk about shopping malls and so on...the rebellion spread out to almost all french cities, also at the french-german border]

Let Us Pray...Bush's Church Calls for U.S. Troop Withdrawal!
historian 07.11.2005 04:11
America Drifts Rapidly Toward A Perfect Panopticon Police State
How many of you are familiar with the tenets of Bentham's Panopticonism? From the early 1800s, it was a human surveillance and data gathering framework to engineer power more centrally with less effort. It was applied then to only one institution, the prison. That was the origin of many prisons that are on the "wheel" framework, many in the US, with a central tower of watchfulness down all corridors and all prison cells visible simultaneously from the center at all times.

However, the USA elites of both the Democrats and the Republicans are implementing the same political philosophy to basically engineer an open air prison panopticon society over all institutions.

Anyone ever see that UK "fantasy" serial from the 1960s The Prisoner with Patrick McGoughan? Worth reviewing that rare TV example of allegory... since we are presently living it.

IMC Reporters Taken to Batan: Where the Poor of Mar Del Plata are Hidden
A one line comment in Arengentina Indymedia say Fernando Catz and Roger Sampedro have been sent to Batan: a place with a reputation as bad as any prison in ARgentina. All the prisons are crowded, and the media, even the BBC has speculated that is reason is a "crime wave" precipated by economic collapse.

This is false. The facts indicate otherwise.
It is for this reason former president Menen is hiding in Chile right now.
A CHILEAN judge yesterday threw out Argentine judges' second request to extradite former president Carlos Menem for questioning about allegations that $60 million was embezzled from funds to be used to build two prisons.

Animal Liberation Prisoner Peter Young will have his last court date on November 8th and will appear for sentencing in Madison Wisconsin. Altogether, Peter's involvement led to the release of approximately 10,000 mink who would have otherwise been brutally murdered for their fur. Several fur farmers will be present at this court date to tell the judge how Peter ruined their livelyhood by liberating the mink on their farms. Show your support for Peter and the countless number of animals being brutally slaughtered for their fur.

the occupation no one knows about!

"As a result of this large-scale aggression by the Armenians part about 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan have been annexed by the regular Armenian military units and those of Mountainous Karabakh Armenians and foreign hirelings. More than 700 populated centers are plundered, destroyed and burned, and only 170 of them are situated in Mountainous Karabakh.

The total number of the refugees and displaced persons is over 1 million people (about 200 thousand are Azerbaijanians, exiled from Armenia; 50 thousand are originally from Central Asia - Meskhet Turks). The number of those who left their places of residence as a result of the capture of the part of the territory of Azerbaijan is about 800.000 people. "
