police hit the streets protesting in Toronto. Too bad they weren't harrassed by ACTIVISTS ;)
![]()
How the corporate media frames coverage of the protests in Argentina so as to alienate sympathy for the protesters and their goals.
![]() "...[L]ast Friday at the state capital building in Montpelier, a historic independence convention was held, the first of its kind in the United States since May 20, 1861, when North Carolina decided to leave the Union." --- "The group that organized the convention in Vermont was the Second Vermont Republic (SVR), formed in large part during the last few years. [The] famed green and blue flag of the Green Mountain Boys...has...been adopted by the SVR....The SVR, according to its web site, "is a peaceful, democratic, grassroots solidarity movement committed to the return of Vermont to its rightful status as an independent republic as was the case in 1791 and to support Vermont's future development as a separate, sustainable nation-state." ... "Naylor is unarguably the architect of the secessionist/independence movement, having come to the decision of secession after realizing, along with fellow Vermonters, that the US Empire "has become too big, too centralized, too powerful, too intrusive, too materialistic, too high-tech, too globalized, too militarized, too imperialistic, too violent, too undemocratic, and too unresponsive to the needs of individual citizens and small communities" as he stated in his most recent book "The Vermont Manifesto"." --- "Naylor pointed out the rationale for secession. In sum, the two main problems are that the US government "has lost its soul and has become both unsustainable and unfixable." --- Naylor made comparisons between the USSR and the USA, citing among other things that the USSR "pretended to have a multiparty political system"; similarly, the US "has gone down the same path and has one party taking the guise of two."
Everyone is in need of footage from N2. We already have one tape, but we need more. Both indymedia, and I need your footage.
Ive been reading many comments regarding the lack of media coverage on the protest. Why the suprise? Why would the corporate media go out of their way to show people they are not alone, and that there is a solid resistance to tyranny, when they could sell more anti-depressants for their sponsers. We have to remember that we own the streets, and they are fear mongering intruders.

Deficiencies of Our Current Federal System, continued
I wrote this about 6 months ago, and N2 was the perfect day to say it, and I missed two chances to say it. I thought it was still good enough to post, so here it is. I was hoping that the Radical Cheerleaders could take it???!!! :)
I'm smart. I made a business that runs itself and supports me today. I live like a happy go lucky trust fund kid, only I made my own fund. For the sake of anonymity I'm not going to say exactly what the business is but I feel strongly that it doesn't have any moral, social or environmental consequences, but of course your analysis may vary. Also I don't need any competition, LOL.
Now that I don't have to work anymore I'm thinking of getting back into the activist scene, something I dropped out of for a bit when I was working 90 hour weeks between a real job and my business. I am not a millionaire, just secure enough to not need to work. I look REALLY good on paper. I have a few questions. When you are arrested, do they ask what you do? Would I be likely to be treated differently because I am retired in my 20s? (held longer, bigger fines, etc..) Is it likely that a database is pulled up that would show my assets and make the police think I am not who I said I am? Also I just wanted to let everyone know that class is not necessarily determined by income. I was raised DIRT poor. We never went hungry but we did eat only food box cheerios for days and days on end. I feel a class war brewing in this country and its not going to be successful if the people who made it are going to automatically be put on the other side of the fence.

We need to empower everyone to really help organize.
thanks
There was no media coverage about the Nov. 2nd protest. Like somebody said before, no news is bad news. We need our voice heard on a larger scale.
Peace

![]() This EXCERPT is from Chapter 7, where Ellsberg is discussing his mid-1965 tour of Vietnam with CIA operative General Ed Lansdale, and their encounters with U.S. Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge. The passage is valuable for a long quote from Lodge at meeting of the Saigon Mission Council where the topic was "free elections" for the Vietnamese, and transitioning from a military to civilian regime with popular support. Then, Richard Nixon himself pays a visit ...

ventually some of us decided to pay a visit to Congressional representative David Wu's office (620 SW Main Street, room 606) and try and ascertain exactly how it was the will and interests of the people are being misrepresented...I think this kind of activity needs to be done much more often, and all around the country...We must literally be in these people's lives, to apply stress and annoyance, to create dialogue and stir passions, to forge new avenues of democracy until we can cut off the funding for this war, which is not wrong because it is "illegal", it is wrong because it is a war of aggression and terrorism and occupation...The Bush administration and friends are not all powerful, but they still wield terrible power, the power to destroy many, many lives yet. We MUST stop them. WE ARE RESPONSIBLE. Almost every day another American soldier dies in a war instigated by the scum of this earth, and every week tens of more Iraqis are killed by that latest dead soldiers angry and frightened comrades.
"All roads lead to Rome," and it seems that Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation into the Plame Affair, and more broadly the lies used to hoodwink the American people into supporting a criminal war on Iraq, will also trudge down the Appian Way lined this Halloween with the ghosts of crucified Iraqis.

At 12pm the walkout began. We left school in a group of 15 or so kids. We had a banner, we had a plastic-can-drum, and we had our (soon to be infamous) megaphone. We walked down to Pioneer square to find the rally underway.
On October 28 a statewide convention on state secession and running on the theme "Vermont Independence: An Impossible Dream or a Vision of the Future?" was held in the State House in Montpelier, VT. The last time a convention similar to this was held took place in North Carolina in 1861 when the state decided to secede from the US.
Hello everyone. There is a lot of controversy on what happened today and being one of the organizers, I can tell you first hand what happened.
I organized a walk out in my school which basically included everyone there. My school has about 50 people in it and we are extremely close to pioneer square so it all worked out. When walking down to the square, we would often take the streets and go back on the sidewalk when the max came around. When we arrived, there was a huge amount of people. We thought there would be about 300 people there but there was at least 700 people. A lot of people did some really awesome speeches. A musician played a calm song as the rally began to rage. I got up, did a speech about how the youth is being censored and kicked off the rally.

Nicolas Rossier's new documentary, Aristide and the Endless Revolution, featured at the Vancouver International Film Festival(VIFF), marks an important contribution to the struggle to disseminate the truth about Haiti's hard struggle for self-determination.

The Army has known for decades of its overseas chemical weapons dumps, yet left other governments to discover and deal with the problem on their own.
Japan's problems from U.S. chemical weapons dumping didn't come to light until a government inquiry in 1973, after more than 85 fishermen were injured by chemical warfare agents dumped by either U.S. occupation forces or the Japanese military at the close of World War II.
