Cindy Sheehan uncovers escalation of astro-turf campaign tactics
So, it turns out those favorite targets of the corporate media, the "pro-war demonstrator" may not be motivated by conviction as much as the all-mighty dollar. A man demonstrating against Sheehan was making $60 an hour for his time (and offered to switch signs if offered more money). I suppose this won't come as a shock to anyone but something to keep in mind. --tc

The Wal-Mart Future Awaits You
Leaked memo reveals extent of plan to shift public perception of its health coverage, further burden its workers and influence the future of national healthcare policy. Among the initiatives recommended by the memo are plans to switch employees' paid-time off for more generous discount cards, to switch from a tenured and full-time workforce to a part-time, high turnover workforce, to build in-store, privately run healthcare clinics intended to deter employees from visiting the hospital, to require physical activity from all positions making it impossible for older workers to find jobs, and to "become more engaged in the national healthcare debate, to position Wal-Mart as a leader in healthcare in general," in order to deflect criticism and influence national healthcare policy.

Are you class conscious?
Economic class is one of the few subjects in American society that is forever taboo; the idea is in fact so forbidden that one never learns the basis for its censorship. Why is class such a dangerous idea? And why do most Americans have only a limited understanding of what is an established phenomena in every nation in the world? In spite of the intentional suppression of the class discussion, the issue found itself thrust upon the world public with the destructive outcome of hurricane Katrina. For the first time, many people witnessed a condition of poverty and suffering unbeknownst to them; the shock these visions created prompted people to ask questions about their reality that had never been raised, resulting in conclusions that heightened their awareness about issues that existed beforehand behind a veil of hidden forces. These new ideas consisted in recognizing relationships between race and poverty, class and survival, the protection of property over the life of the deprived—the grossest aspects of how we live, normally hidden from public view.

MARTIAL LAW SURVIVAL GUIDE
This article will start off assuming that the Reader (you) is already subject to MARTIAL LAW; that is, the "suspension" of the Constitution. Curfews, rationing of basic goods, enforced relocations, confiscation of firearms and supplies, and summary arrest/execution by soldiers, paramilitary police and other jack booted chumps in black wielding assault rifles. Basic survival tips will be followed by more detailed ideals on how to counter this coup against the American People.

The remainder will apply IF you're reading this before MARTIAL LAW is imposed by the current corrupt government. IF you are reading this while you still nominally under Constitutional Law, it's urgent you read from the beginning to end so as to appreciate the opportunities you currently have to not only protect yourself and yours, but to attempt to stop a coup.

Former DCI Stansfield Turner: Burn This Book
Thursday evening, Admiral Stansfield Turner, former CIA chief under Jimmy Carter will be appearing at Olsson's Bookstore in Arlington, VA to discuss his new book on the history of the intelligence community, and how it can be fixed. His views on reform are much more similar to those of Richard Nixon, than those of our current president. Nixon, a traditional republican, took a dim view of the CIA:
"What the hell do those clowns do out there in Langley," he is quoted as complaining at one point. "What use are they? They've got forty thousand people over there reading newspapers."
Perhaps they like to admire their own work.

Dear All,

So, it finally has happened again: a suicide bombing. I've been wondering when it would occur. All the major English language newspapers in the world (and some not so major) carry the news of the bombing. But, they omit mentioning that Palestinians suffer daily—pogroms, middle of the night arrests and roundups, and IOF killings. In September, the IOF killed 38 Palestinians and injured 163. In October to date the IOF has killed 11 Palestinians and injured 16*—a drop from September, but if the Israeli military pursues the plans below, the numbers will grow.
