US and EU-3 make another provocative move against Iran
The Bush administration and its European allies moved one step closer to an open confrontation with Iran, following last Saturday's decision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board to declare Tehran in breach of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). The resolution sets the stage for Iran to be referred to the UN Security Council for punitive sanctions if it fails to shut down its uranium enrichment program, to allow intrusive new inspections of its nuclear facilities and "reconsider" the construction of a heavy water research reactor.

After September 24: What way forward in the struggle against war?
The massive march in Washington on September 24 for the immediate withdrawal of US troops from Iraq was followed two days later by a smaller civil disobedience protest in front of the White House where scores were arrested.

The first of the 370 taken into police custody Monday was Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a fallen US soldier who gained national attention last month by camping out near Bush's Texas ranch to call for an end to the war and demand the president explain to her why her son was killed.

US is violatring its own laws. In any case its a bogus reason, s theres no indication he would be tortured..but his trial WOULD expose sinister US involvement in those countries.
But this ruling has one positive benefit: anyt country will be able to deny extradition to the US on the grounds the US may send the person to be tortured.

More Cheers Than Jeers
On Saturday, September 24th, a group of about 40 citizens gathered at the Chamber of Commerce office in St. Helens. 40 people in this small town, miles outside of the metropolitan area, cared enough to take a stand. They turned out to protest the war in Iraq and ask that our troops be brought home. Compared to the turnout in larger, more cosmopolitan cities 40 may not seem like a lot. In St. Helens, however, there are few activities that draw such a large crowd, and those are more likely to be high school sporting events than political rallies.

Republican Financial Mismanagement
A financial news blogger has published a detailed explanation, "Concise History of Republican Financial Mismanagement".

"There are a lot of Republicans . . . who [continue to] vote Republican largely based on the perception Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility. This perception comes from the 1950s when Republicans were actually fiscally responsible. However, starting in 1980 and the 'Reagan Revolution', that changed. The Republicans became the party of 'borrow and squander'. Regrettably, they have left the US with a legacy of debt that will burden our children, grandchildren and probably our great grandchildren. Moreover, as the US population ages and the baby-boomers retire, it could crush the US' national budget."

The chickens have come home to roost, and it can only get worse from here on out. See PIMC article on soon-to-retire Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan's recent admission that the U.S. government has "lost control" of its budget deficit. That loss of control goes beyond current fiscal irresponsibility and reaches into the foreseeable future. It's beyond when you carelessly spend beyond your means. It's like when you get so deep into debt that you lose control of your life entirely.

Greenspan's English lost in translation?
For once Federal Reserve Chair Alan Greenspan has spoken in plain English, but the Bush administration claims it has been "lost in translation."

DailyKos blog by "G2geek" has uncovered an interesting admission by soon-to-retire Fed Chair Alan Greenspan that the U.S. government has "lost control" of its budget deficit.

Noting that this SHOULD BE major news covered as completely as any of Greenspan's frequent attempts to hide the truth about the U.S. and global economies from the public, G2geek urges spreading this news story -- which has been ignored by mainstream/corporate media.

A Treasury official has claimed that "things" get lost in translation. I say a lot of "things" have been lost in off-shore accounts tied to the Bush crime family.
