Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory
TOPEKA, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.

"Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, 'God' if you will, is pushing them down," said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.

Another victory as Newchurch closes!
For the last 6 years British activists have fought to close the Newchurch Guinea Pig farm, a breeder for animals used in laboratories such as Huntingdon Life Sciences. Throughout those 6 years the activists have been subject to raids on their homes, random arrests, trumped up charges, and the passing of truly backwards laws meant to ban them from so much as holding a sign NEAR the town where Newchurch resided. All of that didn't matter though, they stuck with it through thick and thin and today they won another battle in the world wide campaign for animal liberation. Tens of thousands of lives will potentially be saved. The secret of this victory is the inclusion of all forms of activism and the refusal to splinter with more radical elements in the movement. Save The Newchurch Guinea Pigs ran a legal campaign against the farm, people all across the UK wrote, called, and faxed the farms suppliers, and the Animal Liberation Front sabotaged cars belonging to Newchurch employees. Everyone was welcome, everyone played their part, and no one attacked other activists for choosing different tactics. Here is a statement about the victory...

Gale Norton Touts Recreation Fees
In allegiance to the American Recreation Council (ARC), headed by Disney, RV manufacturers, and makers of off-road motorized vehicles, Secretary of Interior Gale Norton has started a media campaign to quell the strong, prevailing opposition to the charging of fees for individual access to quiet, harmless recreation on public lands. With the overarching goal of commercializing and privatizing our public lands, Norton/ARC have already succeeded in criminalizing non fee-paying with penalties of up to 6 months in jail and $10,000 fines. Her first example of the wonders of charging these fees is in the Mount Hood National Forest, where timber companies meanwhile get paid millions to clearcut sensitive ecosystems. A letter-writing campaign can subvert Norton's PR campaign and put her on the offensive rather than being able to shape the media's representations of the issue.

COINTELPRO operative discourages going to Crawford-admits Peace House paid off mortgage
Cindy has asked that as many as possible join her in Crawford, and as the momentum and numbers are growing COINTELPRO operatives swarm the internet trying to discourage people from going. Just like the organizers at the protest, they are actively trying to lesson the numbers. What is interesting is that the operative supports giving even more money to the Crawford Peace House. Althought the Crawford Peace House has denied paying off their mortgage with donations meant for Cindy...it is understood by many people that it has indeed been paid off. It has also been mentioned that two vehicles were purchased. With 90,000 in the bank(probably much more now) Cindy was having to ask for tarps and rope. They waited days asking for someone to come foward and provide Cindy a van, when they could have called a rental place. At the same time they are still asking for more money, Food Not Bombs is now providing the food. There are people in Crawford as well as the internet, being paid by the US government to try to squash this protest in Crawford. I THINK THEY ARE WORRIED!

Three years ago today, George W. Bush had the gall to visit Portland and stay at the downtown Hilton. In what was then the first major protest against him since 9/11, thousands of people filled the streets and surrounded the nine square block cordoned-off area around the hotel. Rather than being trapped in a protest pen, the police and pResident were trapped, and protesters had free reign over much of downtown, where streets were taken, traffic snarled, and music played.

State governors declare states of emergency along united $tates-Mexico border after critic
On Friday, August 12th, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson declared a state of emergency along half of New Mexico's border with Mexico. This was followed by Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano's declaring a state of emergency along Arizona's border with Sonora on Monday, August 15th, reportedly after a couple days' consideration. Allocating emergency funds for law enforcement in border towns, both Demokkkratic governors cited concerns about violence, drug smuggling, people "smuggling," and undocumented migration. Richardson also cited property damage and violence against law enforcement, reports of which are questionable. News stories indicate Richardson was concerned with gunfire directed at Columbus Police Chief Clare May, though it is not clear from these stories whether the gunfire was related to migration.

FITZGERALD'S OPENING MOVE? indicting of Sun-Times-Hollinger David Radler,of Novak/Plame...
next? [Conrad Black, Hollinger] Indictments starting on the outside, and working 'in' toward the White House, Richard Perle, Robert Novak? "US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who is also the special prosecutor in the Valerie Plame-CIA leak, has indicted David Radler, ex-publisher of Black's Chicago Sun-Times, charged with criminal fraud....Black has not been charged yet, but US Attorney Fitzgerald said that Radler plans on pleading guilty and testifying at a criminal trial against his former boss [Bilderberger Conrad Black]." Thus wider information, more indictments, snowballing, etc. "The net may also tighten around the Neo-Con propagandist, war profiteer and fellow Bilderberger Richard Perle, who was also a former Hollinger board member and was cited in a 2004 SEC report on fraudulent financial activity at Hollinger. Plus, Plame-outer Robert Novak was syndicated by Sun Times of Chicago, owned by Hollinger....]

Get the picture?

Expect prosecutors to begin working on former Hollinger directors to turn against Black and act as witnesses for the prosecution. 'Flipping witnesses,' as its known, has been particularly successful in securing
convictions against executives of Enron, the energy firm suit that snowballled into one of America's biggest scandals.

Harvest Moon 2005: All the Work That Must be Done
Here in the City of Roses, in sea-warmed, mountain-sheltered Cascadia, it is the peak of Summer. The warm nights under this full moon are balmy enough for a tank-top. The sky slowly bleeds to black through a deep deep blue. Whistling through the tree-lined streets of pre-WWII neighborhoods on my bike -- hearing the crickets at one corner, human revelry at the next (it seems like everyone is out on their porch drinkin' a beer with friends tonight), running headlong into a cloud of flower scent, feeling the air rush by (or just rustle, if you're coasting slow), seeing the lights of the West Hills twinkling across the river as you sink into the happy hippie valley of inner Southeast -- it seems like Paradise.

Activists Vs Nazis tied game 1 to 1
This is really disgusting. This event, if corporate media is to be believed, appears to have happened with little opposition(if this was not the case, then by all means please write about what happened). This is the best publicity that they could possibly hope to recieve. It is like a beacon shining brightly to nazis getting their chicken-shit asses kicked everywhere else that Oregon and Portland are a nazi safehaven. Circle the fucking wagons folks, this means trouble!
More disturbing but not surprising, is the co-operation from the Oregon State Police and US Forest Service on providing security for the event. This speaks volumes about law enforcement officals. I don't buy their excuses. The claim that they didn't know who they were until too late is bullshit because it's never too late for the cops/feds to shut down an event organised by anarchists or people of color. Often permits, venues, media centers, etc are revoked, raided, closed, torched, shot at, with complete disregard for the law, safety, or constitutional rights. The Forest Service is especially notorious for killing and seriously injuring people for expressing political beliefs. So why is it that when skinheads/neo-nazis do these activities they are specially protected? It's obvious that several someones in the ranks are sympathetic.
So they got one over on us this time. We've taken a lump. Let's learn our lesson and not let it happen again or we could very well return to the conditions of the early 90s. Let's nip this shit in the bud.
We were certainly headed in the right direction with the anti-nazi events in SW Portland. That day, by our sheer numbers and willingness to fight if necessary, we destroyed their event. We can do that again and again and again. It didn't take much. We just need to make nazi events one of the priorities. Furthermore, we need a functional local ARA that can focus on this issue.

Socialists with Howard Zinn books, DUers thrown out of Camp Casey- PETA can stay though
something is seriously fishy about the 'organizers'(cointelpro) at Camp Casey

This statement is key...
Camp Casey is not a democratically-run site out of sheer necessity; there has to be some control of the overall message coming out of Crawford.

"not democratically-run out of sheer necessity"- sounds like something Bush would say.

The 'organizers' are trying to water down the message, pretend it is all just about a grieving Cindy Sheehan who just wants to meet with Bush. Cindy stated that it is not about her-it is about stopping the war. And she doesn't want to "meet" him, she wants to call him out on his bullshit! And she wasn't grieving at the time she came to Crawford, she was PISSED OFF AT BUSH, and later said it had become a hopeful protest. Yesterday, Cindy wrote that the 'organizers' are telling her to tone down her message.

The 'organizers' won't let folk artists bring their bands because 'it is not a celebration'. They won't inform people of the concerts because 'there's not enough parking' yet they won't find a real solution for the parking. They turned down 212 acres which could have facilitated a large gathering, and have everyone spread out at Camp Casey 1,2 and the Peace House in town.

What is going on here??
