Notably, Conyers points to the Bryan Mayfield case as proof that the PATRIOT Act has been egregiously abused -- as has been well documented here at PIMC. Gonzales is the attorney who wrote the Bush administration's position paper authorizing torture of prisoners. Conyers is a member of the House Progressive Caucus.
