![]() "The House has become a place where trivial issues are debated passionately and important issues not at all."
i've been following the stories here on indymedia of the direct actions that have been taking place this week to stop the logging in the Fiddler Sale in the Biscuit area. It's been quite exciting to see that so many people have been willing to put their bodies on the line, and that so many have been supporting them. My admiration and gratitude totally go out to them.
i'm also impressed at how organized the outreach effort is. Today, outside my co-op, some folks had set up an info table to draw attention to their fight. They had photos printed up from the portland indymedia website, Call to Action flyers to distribute, and were making themselves available to spread the word and to collect donations. Many people stopped to talk to them and it was clear they were getting support! Such grassroots organizing inspires me.
Can we have a planning day for March 19th? Any colleges willing to reserve some space?
Lloyd Axworthy, president of the University of Winnipeg and a former Canadian foreign minister, has written an open letter to Condi Rice that has most of the world (outside of Fox news) laughing at the Bush administration. Axworthy is a master of the kind of biting satire that makes mere cuss words and obscenity look tame by comparison. The letter, which successfully deconstructs the Bush administration as a legitimate government, was published in the Winnipeg Free Press and has been circulating in the U.S primarily through the blogosphere.

Homeland Security Schutzstaffien And "Terrorists"
This morning I was sitting on my porch and as the bus drove by I saw this very noble and beautiful black woman staring out the window and looking in my general direction. She was looking sad and I could only wonder what menial job she was headed to. I could only wonder if she was thinking to herself "i've been working all my life but ain't got nothing show, i ain't telling you nothing you dont already know."
This is all taking place in North Portland, and the community is getting harder. The other day the shots rang out. They rang out on 17th and Killingworth, the rang out on Shaver and Mississippi. The nice weather brings out the street element. As protesters we say to ourselves, "whose streets, our streets" and we say it to the cops with little or no meaning whatsoever, because we dont have it in our colelctive consciousness that we CAN make that the reality.
Another development model should be realized based on an energy-saving way of life and emocratic controls on natural mineral resources, particularly drinking water. Military bases of foreign countries should be closed. Another world is possible, promoting democracy.

We found him in a modest home in a small village and not in a hole as announced," Abou Rabeh said. "We captured him after fierce resistance during which a Marine of Sudanese origin was killed," he said...
He said Saddam himself fired at them with a gun from the window of a room on the second floor. Then they shouted at him in Arabic: "You have to surrender. ... There is no point in resisting."... "Later on, a military production team fabricated the film of Saddam's capture in a hole, which was in fact a deserted well," Abou Rabeh said.
How goes the war on terror, George?
Is Al Qaeda under control? Does the world know peace, freedom and justice? I think I'd say "No" on the whole.
Does anyone have anything more on this story? It seems to be available only in blogs, where it appears to be well documented.

Everyone wants peace, that is a given. But the question is how far will we go to accomplish peace? Following an ice-cream truck around in a parade fashion is not my idea of an actual protest. Our voices need to be heard, not muffled. There have been too many times we have been ignored because of our lack of persistence. Do we not care anymore? When the war started we protested, but why have we dimmed our actions? March 19th should be the new beginning of a revolt. How many more people does our nation have to kill in order for people to understand what is going on? We are the ones that have to put an end to this senseless brutality. What ever happened to "For the people, by the people"? Time of action is at hand.
i was out doing some flyering today and saw some posters that said something like that on them. i didn't want to take one down so i could remember the details, and i didn't have anything to write with, and i was hoping to find something here on indymedia when i got home. but there ain't nuthin!

![]() Signora Frale, who is writing a book based on the Chinon parchment, told the Italian monthly Hera, a journal of historical mysteries, that the result was the complete exoneration of the Knights. Noting that de Molay and the Knights had asked his pardon, the Pope wrote: "We hereby decree that they are absolved by the church and may again receive Christian sacraments." Signor Forgione said that the Pope had failed to make this absolution public because the scandal of the Templars had aroused extreme passions and he feared a church schism. Philip IV had de Molay and other Templar leaders put to death before the Pope's verdict could be published, and it was subsequently lost. And to conspiracy deniers, a collective "bite me" I think is in order, from all of us to all of you.

Reports from the field indicate that four people have locked down to the Green Bridge, blocking access to the Fiddler Timber Sale.
Several Forest Service law enforcement vehicles were escorting loggers to the sale this morning when one person locked down to the lead law enforcement vehicle while it was crossing the bridge. Three additional people then locked down, to what it is unclear. The bridge has been cleared and roped off as a 'crime scene.' At least one arrest has already been made. Please stay tuned to ![]()
