Stop Draft 01.03.2005 14:16
Call to Action
On March 31, the Selective Service System will report to President Bush that it is ready to implement a draft within 75 days. We have to organize now to stop the draft before it starts.

Despite what politicians say, there is a high probability that the Bush Administration will attempt to reinstate the draft.

Bush--stupid, alone, isolated, hated--LOCKS DOWN EUROPE on recent invasion, ahem, 'visit'
"The great motorcade," wrote Canadian correspondent Don Murray, "swept through the streets of the city... " but there were no crowds. George W. Bush's imperial procession through Europe took place in a hermetically sealed environment. In Brussels it was, at times, eerie. The procession containing the great, armour-plated limousine (flown in from Washington) rolled through streets denuded of human beings except for riot police. Whole areas of Belgian capital were sealed off before the American president passed." 19 American escort vehicles with the President's car (known to insiders as "the beast"), 200 S.S. agents, 15 sniffer dogs, the Blackhawk helicopter, 10,000+ policemen, various frogmen the Germans mustered for the President's brief visit to the depopulated German town of Mainz to shake hands with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. Rhine River closed to all boat traffic. People forced to park far away from their homes--kilometers away--and walk home. Freeways closed for hours on only 'potential' nearness to the unknown Global Idiot Son's path. Public mailboxes removed. People publicly warned keep clear from their own windows/balconies. S.S. wanted to shut down mobile phone network. In disorientation of transportation and access, businesses shut down. Economy collapsed...

Bush should be AFRAID. HE IS the WORLD'S PUBLIC ENEMY #1

A massacre occured in Haiti over the weekend-supervised by the UN! Don't let Haiti fall off the global radar folks! Very bad things are happening in Haiti right now, under direct supervision of the UN! This story is from today's Zmag.org website. It is most worrying that our government removed at gunpoint a democratically elected Prime Minister in Haiti roughly a year ago. Haiti has now descended into chaos and thuggery with peace and justice activists being shot in cold blood by the Haitian National Police-with UN approval!

Popping the Bush bubble of fear: compare these images
President Chirac in France notice reality in other countries. This picture on the left was taken in France in 2003, on Bastille Day. Even though I don't care for Chirac, there he is, open car, waving, fully visible. A slightly more open and less fear based culture, eh?

Meanwhile, we have Bush and Cheney. We rarely even SEE Cheney due to 'security' or even know where he is because he is connected with the post 9-11 activated SECRET GOVERNMENT. For comparison, see the rare occuassions they are actually in public--in armored cars--unlike their staged events on secure military bases or Secret Service run press conferences, etc.

Keep in mind the reality most of the world has is like France, not like the U.S.

Esther Kaplan: On the Trail of the Christian Right
div>

Esther Kaplan grew up in the only non-Christian family in her hometown of King's Valley, Oregon. Her childhood was deeply intertwined with those of Christian fundamentalists she played with and with whom her family socialized, even as she was often considered an oddity who needed to be converted. Later in life she was touched personally and then compelled into activity by the AIDS epidemic, particularly disturbed by the hateful response of some of the Christian Right who viewed AIDS as a just punishment from God against gays. It is this intimate familiarity with both the people who make up much of the base of the rapidly growing Christian Right in this country, as well as with the human cost and suffering being inflicted by the political operatives leading this movement, that Esther has approached the subject of the rising role Christian fundamentalism in this country.
