This Is What Democracy Looks Like
TheCage-full.jpg I am still writing this story - but these pictures need to be out there NOW. This is what the city of Boston considers the "Free Speech Zone". It is as close as demonstrators can get to Fleet Center where the delegates and politicians will be gathering for the democratic process of nominating the Democratic candidates for president and vice-president and agreeing to a platform. Let the photos speak for themselves until I can find the words to describe how I felt seeing this.

Online Harassment Of Activists Decreases As The FBI Redeploys For Real World Harassment
As most of us have noticed, the FBI has been sweeping the United States with personal visits to activists during the days leading up to the Democratic Party Convention in Boston. Most effected by the sweep have been anarchists. As the target of an FBI online harassment operation, I could not help but to notice the inverse relationship between the real world harassment and the online harassment. It appears that as more agents have been deployed in the field, fewer are available to harass activists online.

Halfway down this article about the Bush Administration's plans to oveturn the Roadless Rule protecting every undeveloped forest that existed in late 2000 (probably linked to their pivotal plan to log roadless areas around the Biscuit), it casually mentions that Washington Governor Gary Locke would use the new rule's petitioning process to seek protection for all Washington roadless areas. And I wonder why Washington has 3 times as much wilderness land, and relatively few (publicized?) incidents of old-growth logging.

Washingont Post publishes story on Abdullah and Omar Bin Laden - 3 years after Greg Palast
Palast (6/11/01) - In the eight weeks since the attacks, over 1,000 suspects and potential witnesses have been detained. Yet, just days after the hijackers took off from Boston aiming for the Twin Towers, a special charter flight out of the same airport whisked 11 members of Osama Bin Laden's family off to Saudi Arabia. That did not concern the White House.

Milbank (7/22/04) - At least 13 relatives of Osama bin Laden, accompanied by bodyguards and associates, were allowed to leave the United States on a chartered flight eight days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to a passenger manifest released yesterday.

Were the Gnostics the Original Christians : Part Three Enlightenment
In part one of this discussion I made the case that the violence and threats of the Christian conversion experience leads to a traumatic stress disorder common to victims of violence, which then evolves into a Paranoid Personality Disorder. In part two I discussed the origins of the doctrine of sin, since it is the fear inculcated by this doctrine that creates the disorder. This disorder is regarded as very difficult to treat, but the treatment involves the gradual introduction of doubt. Given the harmful effect of the doctrine of sin (paranoia) and the irrational inconsistency of the doctrine (it is reactionary) a satisfactory conclusion can be drawn the revolutionary doctrine of Gnosticism was the original Christian doctrine in that, unlike the doctrine of sin, its revolutionary philosophy is match (rather than a hindrance) to the cross symbol. (This version is properly formatted)

Were the Gnostics the Original Christians : Part Two Sin
The doctrine of sin is so irrational when considered as a philosophy, riven with internal contradictions, that it must have been that case that such an unworthy doctrine was ever accepted in the first place is a testament to just how difficult it was to obscure the political meaning of the cross symbol, and just how desperate was the attempt to obscure this meaning, in that a philosophy so irrational and inconsistent was the final resort, apparently nothing better ever having come along that would do the job.
