Wanted: More Than a Million in NYC to Deliver a Big NO to Bush and All That He Stands For
<p>NEW YORK CITY--I fish 50 cents out of my pocket and the Arab man behind the
counter puts a newspaper in a bag for me. The front photo shows a rubber-banded
pile of U.S. bills being counted out by brown hands--$500 blood money to the
family of each Iraqi the U.S. admits to having killed. Most of the victims will
never be named or counted- -but in the photo you can make out the faces of the
dead presidents on the bills. I think of the slave-owning presidents and the
war-making presidents, and all the toil and exploitation around the world that
those bills represent,

Don't believe the hype -- Wyden's Wilderness Bill will INCREASE logging on Mt. Hood!
The bill will increase logging projects like the Mill Creek timber sale Forest Conservation group Bark opposes Senator Wyden's inclusion of a mandated increase in logging in his Mt. Hood Wilderness Proposal, introduced in the US Senate today. The bill mandates a quota for logging on the westside of Mt. Hood National Forest while opening up the east side of Mt. Hood for logging in the name of forest health and fire prevention. Mirroring the Bush Administration's so-called Healthy Forest Restoration Act, the bill allows logging in Mt. Hood's eastside back country, which has been proven to increase the risk of catastrophic fire.

Kucinich statement: "Unity is essential"
"The word is unity. We will unite now because we recognize that unity is essential to bring change in November. Unity is essential to repair America. Unity is essential to set America on a new path. John Kerry can win because there is a place within the Democratic party for everyone, including those who may be thinking of supporting Ralph Nader. Most people know I have many of the same commitments Ralph has. If there is room for me in the party and the Kerry-Edwards campaign, there is certainly room for Ralph and for his supporters."

The difference between Kerry and Bush
Bush TALKS about being a "uniter," but it is obvious that Bush -- and the entire neo-con version of the Republican Party -- are dividers. In his approach to Nader, and in his selection of Edwards, Kerry doesn't just talk the talk, he shows us by his actions that he is a uniter. The reality is that BUSH IS A DIVIDER -- KERRY IS THE UNITER.

The Corporation - A movie based on Joel Bakanís book The Corporation
Wow, I got to see this movie here in Olympia this evening.

Damn this is a mind blowing film. Michael Moore is the source of a lot of the film's dialogue and heart. The same is true for Noam Chomsky.

The film takes the viewer through a reflective consideration of the roles and responsibilities of corporations and the profit motive relative to the greater human condition. It makes excellent use of large corporate CEO types offering up their own viewpoints relative to their perception of the corporate community's impacts to society, the environment, and the greater interests of mankind that are above and beyond the profit motive.

This film is even more important than Fahrenheit 9-11 in that it discusses the root causes of situations that have brought us the Bush administration, and the Iraq war. I believe everyone should go and see this film, it really is an important and moving work.

The sickos at the American Recreation Council keep taking greater control of how our public lands are treated. This idea of introducing hi-tech modes all around our wilderness and park lands is about the worst one I've seen come out them yet, right up there with their steamrolling of rules designed to commodify all public lands and turn us into "consumers" of nature from which their member corporations can greatly profit.
