Monsanto abandons its plans to sell GM wheat
Monsanto, the giant American biotechnology company, announced yesterday it is pulling out of GM wheat, which was supposed to be its next big genetically-modified product.

A statement issued from the company's headquarters in St Louis, Missouri, said that as part of a commercial "realignment" Monsanto is delaying the introduction of GM wheat for up to eight years.

Greenpeace campaigner Ben Ayliffe said GM wheat was supposed to be Monsanto's next big thing yet the company had lost the support of its own customers.

"Monsanto failed to convince even the most die-hard GM supporters that GM wheat was worth the risk," he said. "World-wide opposition from farmers, exporters, and millers meant GM wheat would have been a bigger white elephant than the Millennium Dome."

A spokesman for Friends of the Earth said it was a "worldwide victory for consumers and farmers".

Joe Mendelson, legal director for the Washington-based Centre for Food Safety said: "Monsanto has run up against the reality of market rejection from both farmers and consumers and they realise that basically no one wanted this stuff. They're in full retreat."

The decision comes a month after Bayer Cropscience gave up attempts to grow commercial GM maize in Britain.

GNN: So what's a lefty or progressive or just a mildly skeptical person to do?

Palast: Dance all night. I think the Left is too fucking stiff. The Left hasn't had an erection in years. We are not approaching people in a normal manner. I mean, these weird words like "imperialism." You go to the corner bodega, the average asshole in America isn't an "imperialist." They're just scared like everyone else, or they don't give a shit. Federal Commission NixesTalk Of Paper-Only Elections; Stacks Panels w/ Pro-E-voters
At least one state, Missouri, will consider legislation (House Bill 1744) that effectively bans the use of all voting machines, including ballot scanners. --- California's Secretary of State Kevin Shelley has decertified thousands of Diebold touchscreen machines and has called for a criminal and civil investigation of the company. --- And no one spoke in favor of paper-only elections. That was no accident. --- During a break in the testimony I hustled up to the front of the room to ask Chairman Soaries if there was going to be any testimony that would question the legal right or technical wisdom of allowing machines to be involved in the voting process. Soaries seemed taken aback by the question. He responded that it was not the roll of the Commission to address that issue. The Commission, he said, was there to "assist" election officials and voting machine manufacturers... --- testimony Dr. Avi Rubin debunked the myth that there's any security or integrity to paperless voting technology. --- However...the same old lies were told by the vendors, election officials, and organizations like the League of Women Voters. --- Apparently, all the EAC wants to compile is a list of voting machine technologies from which election officials may chose. It's like picking rotten apples out of the same barrel. --- McCormack pointed out that public concerns raised about touchscreens are the same concerns raised in the past about lever machines and ballot scanners. She clearly wanted to give the impression that U.S. elections were secure using those technologies. However, there are numerous examples of vote fraud and irregularities down through the decades with these machines [see link] --- ...it appears that the public is finally beginning to question America's 100-year bad habit of using voting machines.

Two Articles From the Korean Democratic Women's Union
Some time ago, at the request of Comrade Wendy Binion, a pro-DPRK activist, enviromental scientist, and women's studies personage, I had the opertunity to request of the National Democratic Front of South Korea, information related to the life of women in Socialist Korea. This was part of a college level international studies project, and the ongoing efforts of the Songun Politics Study Group (USA) to better understand what the Juche Idea of KIM IL SUNG and the Songun Idea of KIM JONG IL mean in terms of Women's Liberation.

A letter From the NDFSK dated May 4th Juche 93 stated as follows :

"As you requested in March 26 e-mail: " 4.. About Life in the DPRK for Women A Comrade of mine is requesting information about women in the DPRK. Would it also be okay if to put her in Contact with the Korean Social Scientists, or Women's leagues.", we made contact with the staff members of the Central Committee of the KDWU(Korean Democratic Women's Union) and asked them to give an eye to our US comrades' earnest desire.

They are very pleased at the news that even the US progressive women are deeply interested in the worthwhile life of women in the DPRK ensured by the three generals of Mt. Baekdu.

Here are some presents(Introduction of the KDWU and Brief on the Status and Role of the Women in the DPRK) from the KDWU comrades to your female comrade, a practicing communist and Songun supporter of the US."

The Songun Followers in the US are thankful for this gift and display these interesting articles for the progressive masses in the US and the world, as part of our on-going solidarity with the DPRK and NDFSK, united as one as Soldiers of the three great generals of Mt.Baekdu in the US.

--- John Paul Cupp, Chairman of the Songun Politics Study Group (USA)

if voters recently 're-registered' to vote, ie to switch parties to vote in the Boot Kerry Priamry, they may get two ballots in the mail... it looks as if this may be the method of vote fraud here in Oregon..... the skull and boners have probably already hired henchmen to fill in extra ballots throughout the state.
This sounds like florida all over again, despite the clear intention of the voter, officials will now have a reason to throw out votes when they choose.

Every Republican Administration Ends The Same: What Did He Know And When Did he Know It
The answer is that the Bush Administration ALL knew about the torture at and murder least a year and a half ago, if not right from the start. They Knew about it, and probably ordered it. Even simply allowing it to continue, when they could put a stop to it, is legally a crime. But it is amazing that the Administration, the Congress, the military, and virtually every media source is saying that this is the first they've ever heard about it. Read the following, then watch them lie on CNN.
