Flesh. Deborah Levy. Deborah Levy is actually a reknowned playwright- poets got it worse than musicians- sometimes I got the desire to go downtown and read poetry on a street corner begging for alms- just to keep my pen moving- my craft spilling out and seeping into the streets... Yeppers, she is british, that is why the alms reference. Sheesh. Nesting.

The imperial response, George Will proclaims, must be "precise" and "overwhelming."
But it hasn't been, in large part because the US just no longer can get it up.
What good are big unions if they are only looking out for their immediate members and interests. Big unions are supporting John Kerry, offer pittiful resistance to the corporate trade takeover, and seem only interested in their own jobs, period.

There are four possible accomplishments that will almost certainly guarantee a Bush/Cheney re-election in November. Achieving any one of the four greatly increases the odds of Republican success at the polls. Achieving two of the four makes Bush/Cheney a lock. Achieving three out of four and Bush/Cheney win by 15 points. These scenarios are as follows...

This was to be expected. The prostitutes that have thus far been doing what their masters with the money told them to have suddenly began to be sick of themselves. They want to change things but suddenly find that there is no going back to freedoms enjoyed before 9/11 because the owners, the true power, got the curtailment of press freedom that they were looking for. Put Sinclair on your list of people to be shot along with Bush and the rest of the devils. Check this article on the CNN website.

Deputy Defense Secretary Paul D. Wolfowitz, testifying Thursday before a congressional committee, drastically underestimated the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq since the war began.
"It's approximately 500, of which -- I can get the exact numbers -- approximately 350 are combat deaths," said Wolfowitz, one of the architects of the war. According to the Pentagon, 724 U.S. troops had died in Iraq as of Thursday morning. Of those, 522 were combat deaths. That figure does not include U.S. civilian casualties.
ABC's "Nightline" will devote its entire episode today to host Ted Koppel reading the names and showing the photos of U.S. military personnel killed in action in Iraq - more than 500 men and women.
Producer Leroy Sievers says the episode, "The Fallen," is modeled after the famous 1969 issue of Life magazine showing the names and faces of U.S. soldiers killed in one week in Vietnam. But drawing that parallel has proved to be controversial. Eight ABC affiliates owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, including one in St. Louis, announced Thursday they will not broadcast today's "Nightline," saying, "The action appears to be motivated by a political agenda designed to undermine the efforts of the United States in Iraq." ![]()
![]() I confess I've been watching the NBA playoffs, having always loved basketball. (I used to take gleeful pride in outshooting grown men when I was a teenager playing ball on the court of Liberty Park in Jamaica, N.Y.) Recently, when Carl Malone left his torn shirt on during a Laker win, he told a reporter the reason: "I'm a warrior!" I couldn't help thinking that not only Malone but most Americans don't know what a true warrior is. So I thought I would make it very clear to folks that we do have warriors, true warriors, soldiers who fought hard for our dignity, self-determination, and freedom - who put their lives on the front lines of struggle against racist repression inside and outside of the concentration camps and torture chambers of the state. However, most of our warriors are still locked up in prisons across the nation.

Tonight, 04/29/2004, there was a panel discussion at PSU on the topic of military recruitement in Public Schools, specifically Portland public schools. Members of the panel were both old and young. Some older who have been fighting from the outside for many years and members of the Student Activist Alliance who have been figting from the inside. The panel later featured Dennis Kucinich, who dropped in to say a few words. You can stream the audio from the discussion by clicking on the following link No Recruitement in Public Schools - 04/29/2004.

This past Sunday, April 25th, many thousands of Progressive voters, Green Party members, Ralph Nader supporters, radical feminists and anarchists stood in solidarity with the women of the USA and Planet Earth in demanding access to abortion without Church/State interference and without apology. Given the sponsors of the event, we were not entirely naive about some of the sentiments we'd hear expressed from the stage, and who we'd hear them from -- but nothing could prepare us for the shock of the depth, breadth, and pervasiveness of the collective public insults, hypocrisy and effrontery directed at Progressive/Green/radical constituencies by the day's speakers, including, as we're all well aware by now, former Secretary Of State Madeleine Albright, notorious as the architect of brutality and murder in Kosovo, Palestine and Iraq. . .
According to polls shown by the link below, the majority of Iraqis view the US presence in Iraq as an occupation, not a liberation, and the majority want US forces out immediately or in the next few months.

It is clear that the neocons had no real plan for the occupation, but a plan may be emerging out of the mishaps and mistakes to date. A way to slowly take over the entire Middle East, piece by piece. In the old days of the Ottoman Empire, they were called "satrapies" in the Middle East. Before Mao Tse-Tung united the Chinese people, they were called "war-lords" in China.

The verdict in most of the insurers' favor casts doubt on Silverstein's ability to fully carry out the master plan for rebuilding of the 10 million square-foot office portion of the trade center site, which includes the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower, to be the world's tallest building. The proceeds fall short of Silverstein's $7.5 billion estimated construction cost for the entire project, meaning he will either have to borrow the rest or renegotiate his 99-year lease with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, owners of the 16-acre site.
