Summary of Massive Criminality of Bush Administration: The 33 Court Suits/Crimes,are more?
It's basically Bush and about 10 cronies against the entire United States--and the world.

The slow cool workings of the law are already in play against them. That is why they want to topple the whole framework of law and create an American corporate media and corporate miltiary dictatorship. This little talisman can clear the lies--if you read this list each morning. Share widely. It will guard your mind and the mind of others. ;-)

Out of curiosity, am I leaving any out?

Recent Iraqi Citizen Poll - Another Dodgy Dossier
Media reports treated last week's poll of Iraqis, commissioned by the BBC, ABC News and others, as the population's definitive word on the war.

But how representative of Iraqi views is it?

The poll also fails to take into account the UN's lifting of sanctions in May. These restricted access to food, medicine and basic materials. Perhaps it was the end of sanctions, more than the end of Saddam, that improved Iraqis' "day-to-day lives".

The Daily Poetry Movement
I was listening to the BHT and Robin show the other day and they were joking about the PPRC trying to defend their turf, and the PPRC gang scuffle at the rally. It was hillarious. Anyways it made me think about a couple of the old militant working class songs and poetry of the old days. I guess even the PPRC who claims total nonviolence ain't afraid to fight, we risin' up!

Rice has been interviewed privately by members of the commission but declined a request for a public session.

Former US Terror Chief Slams Bush - Quotes Him As Saying Terrorism 'Not Urgent'
Mr Clarke began his testimony by offering an apology to victims of the attacks A former White House security expert says President George W Bush did not consider terrorism "an urgent issue".

Mr Clarke began his testimony by offering an apology to victims of the attacks.

"Your government failed you, those entrusted with protecting you failed you and I failed you... For that failure, I would ask... for your understanding and forgiveness," he said.

It is believed to be the first such apology by a public figure.

Mr Clarke also reiterated his criticism of the decision to invade Iraq, saying Mr Bush had "greatly undermined the war on terrorism".

Hollywood: the Propaganda Machine
If you thought the days of Hollywood acting directly as a propaganda machine for the government ended with Warner Bros.' anti-"Jap" WWII cartoons, you haven't been paying attention to the people behind the silver screen: Drug Warriors, Pentagon brass, and intelligence officials. I'm not talking about ways in which ingrained patriotism may make people want to make their country and its institutions look good. Instead, I mean the State using quid pro quo to directly influence movies and television to the point of causing scripts to be changed. Meet the almost unknown power players of Hollywood:

Close-up of front page from 21 Mar '04 NYT. Yes, I know all about telephoto lenses and depth compression. Even with that effect, I find it hard to imagine those cells are more than three feet wide (and possibly even less). To some, the "First Thanksgiving" presents a distorted picture of the history of relations between the European colonists and their descendants and the Native People. Ralph Schoenman's analysis on 911 hearings and BIG PICTURE
Ralph Schoenman provides a sharp summary of state-sponsored terrorism, 9-11 and this week's Congressional hearings in context; 30 minute informal talk with Bonnie Faulkner, KPFA producer of "Guns & Butter," broadcast today on KPFA/KFCF (mp3 format). You may not agree with all of his views or analysis, but as a practice the methodology of review of "threads" reported in mainstream media and assembled into a picture--even if others squawk conspiracy theory--provides insight into the ruling elite dynamics, even if you don't subscribe to the full breadth of any given "conspiracy theory." It's important to question and dig - to keep an open mind - this information is presented in that spirit as you'll never find these views in the mainstream. Older talks / radio programs can be found at the "Taking Aim" link herein

Summit of the Unemployed revisited
An idea which has been floated on the internet recently is for a "summit of the unemployed," and DSA Oregon has decided to pick up the challenge and host a discussion and initial meeting to see if this concept has support in the community. Whether your politics are liberal, anarchist or democratic socialist, we welcome your participation. The issue of the unemployed and underemployed is one that touches on a variety of other issues, including the (un)viability of capitalism, itself.

We don't consider this a "DSA event". We are just convenors of this discussion.

The meeting will be at the Red & Black Cafe, SE 22nd & Division, 1 pm, Sunday, March 28th

Rising oil prices and a weak dollar could shatter the global economy
We have all the conditions coming together to create the perfect economic storm: record oil prices triggering a restriction in US economic growth and an increase in the federal budget deficit, accompanied by further erosion in the value of the dollar - with increased budget deficits and the diminished value of the dollar leading in turn to higher interest rates to convince foreign investors to lend the US additional money, followed by a further retraction of the US economy as rising interest rates lead to a drop in domestic investment and consumption. The cascade of events touches off a tsunami that engulfs the rest of the global economy, submerging the world in deep recession.

A leading investment bank has come to the support of Shell following its chairman Sir Philip Watts' misbooking of reserve assets, and accused the US securities & exchange commission of using "outdated" standards to assess oil and gas company reserves.

In an open letter to the US regulator, J J Traynor, managing director of global oil and gas research at Deutsche Bank said: "The discrepancy between these guidelines and industrial reality, and the market climate following the Enron affair, is generating an unwarranted external push on the oil companies to underbook reserves and over-amplify costs. This has the knock-on effect of reducing market values and negative implications for oil companies' ability to raise finance."

This Is The Week Bu$h's 9/11 Myths May Disintegrate
There are two great myths about 9/11, spun in a seamless web that took form even as the flames shot from the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and tiny Shanksville wept.

The first myth - that there was no hint the American homeland would be targeted by al-Qaida, and nothing that could have prevented the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks - was propagated that very morning. "No warnings," former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters aboard Air Force One.

The second myth - that Iraq is, in the words of President George W. Bush, "the central front in the war on terror" - has led America to launch an occupation of unspecified duration and incalculable cost.

Terror As A Weapon Of Occupation
So who benefits most from the spreading fear in Iraq? According to Bush, the winners are faceless evil-doers bent on undermining Iraq's future democracy. And according to Bremer, this means that the attacks will continue as the June 30 handover approaches.

But this is not the word on the streets here. Twenty minutes after the bombing of the Mount Lebanon hotel last Wednesday, the rumours began to fly: it was the US, the CIA, the British ... If these conspiracy theories have traction, maybe it's because the occupying forces have so brazenly taken advantage of the attacks to do precisely what they accuse foreign terrorists of doing: interfering with the prospect of genuine democracy in Iraq.

. . .

In other words, on June 30, the occupation won't end, it will simply be outsourced to a group of hand-picked Iraqi politicians with no democratic mandate or sovereign power. With its new Iraqi face, the government will be free from the ugly perception that Iraq's national assets are being auctioned off by foreigners - and unencumbered by input from Iraqi voters who might have ideas of their own.
