Extreme Measures: The Only Way to Change the Political Context is to Take Direct Action
In other words, nothing happens now unless we get off our butts and make it happen. This means abandoning that very British [AMERICAN] habit of expecting someone else to act on our behalf. Worse still, it means recognising that, for all the complexities and evasions of a modern political system, the motive force of politics is still the people, and the people remain responsible for what is done in their name.

To become a civilised, moderate, responsible nation, in other words, we must first become a nation of extremists.

Kerry Should Explain War-Making Stand
The subject came up Thursday night, when Kerry debated his Democratic opponents in a debate in Los Angeles. What Kerry had to say was troubling.

After explaining that "no, I do not regret my vote" for the resolution that authorized Bush to use force in Iraq, Kerry said, "Let me make it very clear: We did not give the president any authority that the president of the United States didn't have.

"Did we ratify what he was doing? Yes. But Clinton went to Haiti without the Congress. Clinton went to Kosovo without the Congress. And the fact is, the president was determined to go, evidently. But we changed the dynamics by getting him to agree to go to the United Nations and to make a set of promises to the nation."

Apart from the question of whether Congress actually "changed the dynamics" of Bush's march toward war, Kerry again appeared to embrace the view that presidents can go to war without congressional approval. The comments Thursday night echoed statements Kerry made in a Feb. 15 debate in Milwaukee.

Amazingly, no one - not even Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chair Dennis Kucinich or the Rev. Al Sharpton, let alone the media questioners - challenged Kerry to explain his views regarding the advice and consent that the Constitution says Congress is required to provide before presidents start wars.

With Friends Like Ahmad Chalabi, the U.S. Doesn't Need Enemies
Iraqi WMDs? - Chalabi is the Iraqi exile who now brags that his years of lobbying and coaxing American officialdom into war against Iraq have paid off.

He achieved his goal of dethroning Saddam Hussein by feeding the Bush administration his smarmy "intelligence" that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. His neo-conservative friends here, mostly in the Pentagon, eagerly lapped up his blathering because they were looking for an excuse to attack Iraq. Chalabi, who can claim parenthood of the U.S.-led invasion, headed the Iraqi National Congress, which was formed in exile and nurtured with U.S. financial aid.

Last week, he gave an interview to London's Daily Telegraph that added to the embarrassment of the Bush administration. The fact that no weapons of mass destruction have been uncovered, he declared, is of no importance.

An Enemy Of The People
The Democrats are, of course, part of what Nader is concerned about. Quite apart from the oily-establishment and war-friendly Kerry, the Democratic party itself has come to stand for very little. You might call it America's parlor-polite alternative to the selfish stench of the Republicans. Putting up Kerry to replace Bush is like putting up Rutherford B. Hayes to replace Calvin Coolidge. It may be possible for Kerry to win, but, really, what difference to anything would his victory make? Bullwinkle the moose miming John Kennedy at the next State of the Union.

Ordinary Americans have completely embraced the idea that whatever is good or necessary for large corporations is somehow good for them. This may have been true in 1949, but it is certainly not true now. Americans are remarkably passive about everything from steaming toxic dumps left behind by closed factories to bloody interventions abroad.

SHACKLED BOXCARS in OR,TX,,MT,NH, NC; & intervew w/imported NATO crack troops
US map: Detention Facilities; MJTF groups; UN combat groups It has since been learned that GUNDERSON STEEL FABRICATION is under secret contract from the U.S. government to produce these prisoner boxcars. The company received an order from the federal government to build 107,200 full length railroad boxcars with the shackles inside. Gunderson has a satellite factory for making the boxcars with shackles in Texas. Interestingly, Gunderson became the launching pad where then-presidential candidate Governor George W. Bush introduced his plan for social security reform on May 16, 2000, a major part of the current president's platform. Apparently, Mr. Bush has some special relation with Gunderson. --- It is no secret that the U.S. steel industry, which has undergone one of the most horrific depressions of any domestic industry over the past 30 years, is emerging from this long decline with remarkable rapidity. We reported in a Gold-Eagle [investment news] column in January 2001 that shares of leading U.S. steel maker Bethlehem Steel were being enormously accumulated by insiders. --- Since that initial report in January 2001, Bethlehem Steel shares have risen in excess of 400%. Such an impressive percentage gain in such a short period of time (especially considering the slow-moving nature of this sector) bespeaks of something extremely unusual on the horizon that will improve the fortunes of America's languishing steel industry. --- THAT SOMETHING IS MARSHALL LAW PLANS AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A POLICE STATE INFRASTRUCTURE. --- Gunderson got over 2 billion dollars. --- One of the cars was seen by Phil Schneider in a rail yard in NORTH PORTLAND, OREGON.
