a few questions for the rightwing nutters that troll this website
Largely I've been a "middle roader" on all this politics, not being too radical, nor arch
conservative...just flying the White Flag of neutrality across the battlefield of today's
rancorous partisan politics. However, after reading a really neat book that's been out
for a short while, but only now got around to read, I'm left with a question that begs an
answer. Once I've gotten a "good" answer from a conservative spokesman, I will then
evaluate it all, and arrive at decision as to whether to be a "radical" or a "conservative"
and guide my future accordingly. So, "if" you rightwing nutters want to gain a new ad-
herent, then give this question your best shot....

More Detail on Saddam's Capture by the Kurds - Media Spin Gives Credit to US
Way before Saddam's capture was being reported by the mainstream Western press - the Kurdish media ran the following news wire:

"Saddam Hussein, the former President of the Iraqi regime, was captured by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. A special intelligence unit led by Qusrat Rasul Ali, a high-ranking member of the PUK, found Saddam Hussein in the city of Tikrit, his birthplace. Qusrat's team was accompanied by a group of US soldiers. Further details of the capture will emerge during the day; but the global Kurdish party is about to begin!"

By the time Western press agencies were running the same story, the emphasis had changed, and the ousted Iraqi president had been "captured in a raid by US forces backed by Kurdish fighters."

Iraq Pipelines, Storage Tanks Set on Fire
Insurgents attacked pipelines and an oil storage depot in three parts of Iraq, setting fires that blazed for hours and lost millions of gallons of oil, officials and media reported Sunday, as the country faced a critical fuel shortage.

Rebels firing rocket-propelled grenades hit storage tanks in southern Baghdad on Saturday, creating fires that burned about 2.6 million gallons of gasoline, said Issam Jihad, a spokesman for the Oil Ministry.

Also Saturday, a pipeline exploded in the al-Mashahda area 15 miles north of Baghdad, in what Jihad called ``an act of sabotage.''

``The explosion led to the destruction of (part of) the pipeline and to the leakage of vast quantities of oil products,'' Jihad said.

He said he had no immediate information about another reported attack on oil pipelines in northern Iraq.

Al-Jazeera television reported Sunday that large fires were burning following attacks Saturday on four pipelines in the area between Tikrit and Beji. But an AP stringer reported seeing four fires blazing from pipelines further north, between Beji and Mosul, about 250 miles north of Baghdad.

Iraqi Woman Killed As US Military Arrests Hundreds
An Iraqi woman was killed Sunday in an explosion when US soldiers blew down a door during a raid in Rawa, in the restive Syrian border region, the US military said in a statement Monday.

The military said the incident was under investigation.

The woman's death came as the US Third Armored Cavalry Regiment (3rd ACR) kicked off "Operations Rifles Fury" in Rawa, a mission aimed "to kill or capture anti-coalition forces and destroy terrorist training camps."

The troops carried out a total of 17 raids on Sunday and detained 81 individuals, of whom 11 were considered "high value targets" that the 3rd ACR was actively seeking.

Across the entire western province of Anbar, the military said it arrested 96 "terrorists" Sunday.

Bu$h Awards Saddam Hussein and Iraq Another $120 Billion For A Job Well Done.
The bulk of the $120 billion is money owed by Saddam Hussein, his henchmen, and his brutal regime for construction contracts, oil revenue, heavy infrastructure projects that was either fraudulently conceived and executed, or where the money was diverted to other purposes. Much of it was used to procure weapons, munitions, offensive and defensive military vehicles, parts and machinery for missiles, and weapons delivery systems, and contracts from Western European countries to build dozens of Saddams palaces worth billions of dollars. A good portion of the $120 billion was used to rebuild much of the Iraqi Army that we ourselves destroyed in Desert Storm in the early '90s. In affect a good deal of the money was spend on the "never found" weapons of mass destruction and on conventional weapons to kill Americans.

This $120 billion was not just money that Saddam overspent on his Mastercard. Billions have just disappeared into the pockets of Baath Party members, con men, smugglers, the relatives of the famous "deck of cards group", and other assorted criminals, killers, and terrorists. Saddam himself, in his 6 by 8 foot "spider hole" had $750,000 in pocket change on him. But it must be me that is crazy. No one seems to care.

Dec. 8-16th CAFTA Talks in WDC
Throughout the week of Dec. 8-16th the Central America Free Trade Agreements (CAFTA) meetings were taking place in Washington DC. During that week, however, there were daily protests in DC and solidarity protests in Houston, TX and Chicago, IL among other places.

CAFTA is, like the FTAA, is built around the same structure as NAFTA. With the FTAA meetings in Miami being unsuccessful for the delegates, the Empire (US) has focused on creating smaller trade agreements like CAFTA to create more money for the upper class, and more poverty for the lower and middle class.

Costa Rica walked out of the talks supposedly becasuse of differences with the US on agriculture and textiles. The US pushed on without Costa Rica eventually signing an agreement with the countries of Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Costa Rica may resume talks next month, and the US plans to pressure the Dominican Republic next year to join CAFTA.
