For there is always both seed time and harvest, a time to plant and then a time to sow, a time such as this, when the berries are ripening on the bush, and the grapes of wrath hang heavily on the vines.
Saturday, March 1st. 8-hour first aid training. This is our standard class, intended as an introduction to protest first aid and aftercare. It will prepare the student to act as an affinity group-level medic. Students who already have lots of first aid training will also want to take this course as we cover many things that are specific to protest health care. We will all have lots of fun.
Those of you "antiwar" activists who derisively scoff that America will not liberate Iraq for the betterment of its people should look at what a wonderful job America has done in Afghanistan. Looks like the laugh is on you. Ha. Check out this feel good success story. It makes me proud to be an American.
On February 24, Newsweek broke what may be the biggest story of the Iraq crisis. In a revelation that "raises questions about whether the WMD [weapons of mass destruction] stockpiles attributed to Iraq still exist," the magazine's issue dated March 3 reported that the Iraqi weapons chief who defected from the regime in 1995 told U.N. inspectors that Iraq had destroyed its entire stockpile of chemical and biological weapons and banned missiles, as Iraq claims.

The United States last drafted a soldier in 1973. But the Selective Service System still exists in order to register young men in the event Congress decides a draft is needed. In 1980, in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Congress passed the law requiring young men to register. Here are some basic facts on registration.
Typical.

Empire may well go to war, but it's out in the open now — too ugly to behold its own reflection. Too ugly even to rally its own people. It won't be long before the majority of American people become our allies.
Workshop with actual hands-on conversion of a diesel truck engine to run on vegetable oil; explore the pros and cons; get greasy; share a potluck meal.
The planet is currently consuming a billion barrels of oil every 12 days. Peak Oil is here now. What difference does it make if Saudi Arabia and OPEC might be able to add five million barrels a day? It's who gets it that matters.
One of the more compelling arguments for keeping oil pricing and payments in dollars has been that the U.S. remains a large importer of oil, despite being a substantial crude producer itself. However, looking at the statistics of crude oil exports, one notes that the Eurozone is an even larger importer of oil and petroleum products than the U.S. The rest of the globe could topple the United States from its hegemonic status whenever they so choose with a concerted abandonment of the dollar standard. This is America's pre-eminent Achilles Heel.

Lets build a stronger social and mental health movement within social services and through other alternative struggles. While also making a strong connection between the amount of money spent on war and the deficiet in social spending.

Fred Rogers died yesterday. I know that anti-t.v. folks might quickly dismiss him, but he was very important to many children who were put in front of TVs instead of with their parents. Mister Rogers hasn't watched TV since his college days and spent his life trying to stop the commercialization of childhood. The included article is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it.

Most everyone here has heard Noah Chomsky go on about class warfare. I thought some of you might like to hear this Terri Gross NPR interview with one of America's most respected economists -- Paul Krugman. True, NY Times columnist and Princeton professor Krugman is liberal hero now because of brilliant critiques of the Bush Administration. He is also a free trade advocate.
Why, I am trying to understand, are we Israelis so blind to this brutality? Where are the expressions of revulsion by decent Israelis? Why don't the major newspapers report these heart-wrenching stories ? Why didn't a single Jewish political party in the recent election criticize the government for its policy of collective punishment?

Most Americans despise censorship. It is alien to our very nature and is an assault on our freedoms and liberty. Yet more and more Americans are now turning to
foreign news sites on the internet for the truth about today's world events especially concerning war with Iraq. We no longer trust the current regime, network news or major papers to deliver the truth. We know that the media is nothing more than the mouthpiece of the Bush regime.
the bush regime wants us to believe that war is necessary to get rid of saddam husseim and his wmd. this argument is hypocritical and bankrupt since the bushies are ready to use weapons of mass destruction against iraqi civilians, including nuclear weapons. meanwhile, millions are protesting against code red, white and blue, the real threat to world peace & security that the US empire represents.

Let's avoid a war which is not legalized by international law. A resolution of the UN Security Council regarding a war, which is not legitimated by international law, would be the end of world peace order and open unexpected consequences. Our governments are responsible to exhaust all political possibilities in order to avoid such a catastrophe. All governments should resist turning away from the principles of international law.
