DIGNITY VILLAGE UPDATE:
Sun, 8 July 2001
DIGNITY VILLAGE UPDATE:
Over the past two weeks, a number of major developments have occurred that may present a new set of opportunities and challenges to Dignity Village. The city prevailed upon ODOT (owner of current site) to grant a 60 day extension to remain on the current site at 17th and NW Savier. This takes the heat off for the moment, but also means that we still face a serious September 1st deadline, as ODOT is not expected to cooperate with any further extensions.

G8. Genoa police officer tells all. Brutality, torture. MANY LINKS. Raid, jails
From the police confession article:
"The main gate opened continuously - tells the police officer - out of the vans came youth
while getting a beating. They made them stand against the wall. When they came in they
smashed their heads against the wall. They peed on someone, others were beaten if they didn't sing fascist songs. A girl was vomiting blood and the chiefs of the prison police just watched. To the ladies they said that they were going to rape them with their sticks...well, it's a waste of time telling what you've already read."

White Overalls Statement on Black Bloc
Black Blocsters are political activists, we may disagree with their praxis and theory, but we don't deem them as brainless Pavlov dogs foaming at the sight of truncheons.
Moreover, they are more fanciful than people think: a few months ago Black Blocsters split off a demo in Buffalo, entered a destitute neighborhood and picked up garbage. When journalists asked what the fuck they were doing, they answered: "You wrote that we would trash the town, we decided to pick up the trash!

The "Black Bloc" in Italy was in cahoots with Police
It is clear that most of the so-called Black Bloc in Genoa (of whom none were genuine anarchists) were cooperating with the Italian Police and serving as agents provocateurs, to give the police the necessary "justification" to smash heads and confiscate information. This is an important issue- this will happen more and more frequently, as police forces around the world learn this trick.

I am certainly not suggesting that the real Black Bloc is to blame for these things, just that their image is being used to hide infiltrators (and will be used again, no doubt).
