Nightline Tonight: Anti-War Protests...Is Anyone Listening?

Tens of thousands of Americans have joined in demonstrations against a possible war with Iraq. But there hasn't been much coverage in the media, and it doesn't look like the movement is having much of an effect. Is anyone actually listening?

Mitre Corp., Warren Buffet, Global Hawk, and September 11, 2001
Buffet also markets Biz Jets, which CEO's all over the world are buying up as the latest fad. Of course, this means that Warren Buffet, consumate money launderer and second in wealth in the US only to Mr. William Gates, the very man that may have been at the heart of the play calling on September 11 (he was at least playing along), makes the machines the powerful fly in. Fear of death always works, doesn't it?

Flashback: Activist take on Clinton Administartion War On Iraq
Columbus, Ohio Feb 1998 Below are a collections of articles, text, and media transcripts I snaged off the net. You will see the Clinton administation admit they could not control this event and then continue to say it, with the help of the mainstream press, went well for their war cause. The original CNN and NY Times transcripts are gone from the web! Although the event is a little dated and was reported in most major media, the following story is a great lesson in the effectiveness of a small group of people that did a little bit of homework. adap2k

Hunger Strike by Mexican Farmers to Resist Agricultural NAFTA Policies

January 15 marks the end of a 10 day hunger strike by 16 campesinos (Mexican farmers and peasants). The Mexican countryside is in an emergency state with the January 1, 2003 ending of Mexican tariffs on imports of nearly 80 U.S. agricultural goods. The lifting of agricultural tariffs is part of the 1994 NAFTA agreements which have already devastated the Mexican countryside and this devastation will only increase with these latest free trade policies. The United States of America has Gone Mad

The reaction to 9/11 is beyond anything Osama bin Laden could have hoped for in his nastiest dreams. As in McCarthy times, the freedoms that have made America the envy of the world are being systematically eroded. The combination of compliant US media and vested corporate interests is once more ensuring that a debate that should be ringing out in every town square is confined to the loftier columns of the East Coast press.

Smallpox in America: Into the Garden of Delights
Are in danger of a smallpox outbreak in America? Or, are we in a danger of losing control of our health and wellfare. When we give government the power to make medical decisions for us, we in essence accept that the state owns our bodies. The possibility that the federal government could order vaccines is real. Provisions buried in the 500-page homeland security bill give federal health bureaucrats virtually unchecked power to declare health emergencies.
