Rumsfeld helped sell anthrax and bubonic plague to Saddam

DONALD RUMSFELD, the US Defence Secretary and [currently] one of the most strident critics of Saddam Hussein, met the Iraqi President in 1983 to ease the way for US companies to sell Baghdad biological and chemical weapons components, including anthrax and bubonic plague cultures, according to newly declassified US Government documents.

Bouncing Betty

Bouncing Betty was an aspect of the Vietnam War explained to me by one of my Sergeants back in 1974. It was an explosive that when you set it off it would shoot up in the air and then explode. There was a lag when the unfortunate victim realized they were dead, although they hadn't actually died yet, since technically, the mine hadn't exploded. About where the global and American economies are as we enter the New Year of 2003.

Our quality of life peaked in 1974. It's all downhill now
The reason should not be hard to grasp. Our economic system depends upon never-ending growth, yet we live in a world with finite resources. Our expectation of progress is, as a result, a delusion. Capitalism is a millenarian cult, raised to the status of a world religion; like communism, built upon the myth of endless exploitation. Just as Christians imagine that their God will deliver them from death, capitalists believe that theirs will deliver them from finity. The world's resources, they assert, have been granted eternal life.

On no issue is the JINSA/CSP hard line more evident than in its relentless campaign for war--not just with Iraq, but "total war," as Michael Ledeen, one of the most influential JINSAns in Washington, put it last year . . . Indeed, there are some in military and intelligence circles who have taken to using "axis of evil" in reference to JINSA and CSP . . .

The Bush administration's determination to deal with its problems through military means is described by some critics as an intellectual legacy of the Trotskyism of many of the neoconservative movement's founders . . . a rightist version of Trotsky's "permanent revolution," destroying existing institutions and structures in the millenarian expectation that all this violence will come to an end in a better and happier world.

The List

I WANT a list--a full accounting of every weapon in the country. Not Iraq. I could give a fig about Iraq. It's dirt-poor, halfway around the world, almost completely disarmed, has no way to attack us, and knows that any move to threaten anyone would be instantly suicidal . . . Among all the American-trained dictators plaguing the planet, Saddam is the least of our problems . . . I want a list of OUR weapons.

US bankruptcies break records
For the second year in a row, the aftermath of the stock market bubble of the 1990s has pushed US corporate bankruptcies to new records.
The combination of massive accounting fraud and the free spending of the past decade has brought down a string of household names in the past year, including five of the 10 biggest collapses on record. The 186 public companies which went bust had a massive $368bn in assets, dwarfing last year's then all-time record of $259bn.

Venezuela news search. Oil coup-strike-lockout for rich. Help President Chavez!
In 1974 80% of oil income went to the state. Today 80% of Venezuelan oil income goes to the rich, and to "operating costs." Only 20% goes to the state. Chavez reforms will help reverse this in January 2003. This is why the coup-plotters, "strike"-promoters, and corporate media are in such a hurry to overthrow the fairly-ELECTED Chavez government. They want to prevent these reforms, and reverse others already-implemented. Reforms that help the poor and lower middle class. Massive corporate-media disinformation, destabilization campaign going on inside Venezuela. Support President Chavez! Please forward widely.

The Bu$h-Saudi Connection
The Bush dynasty has always been comfortable putting profits before patriotism. Bush Senior struck it rich in oil and in the defense industry. Mahfouz, Prince Bandar and Prince Sultan (Bandar's father) were also heavily invested in the defense industry through their holdings in the Carlyle Group, where Bush Senior served on the board of directors. Founded in 1987 as a private investment group with strong connections to the Republican Party establishment, Carlyle increased its original investment of $130 million to $900 million when it went public in 2001.
