Racism in the USA? Why, I never heard of such a thing...
This is a call-to-action for the community to support Portland's Muslim community. Sheik Kariye's is scheduled for Friday, December 13, 2002, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 12a of the Federal Court Building (1000 SW 3rd). Sheik Kariye is the Muslim cleric who was grabbed by the Portland Joint Terrorism Task Force in September and falsely accused of having explosives. At that time, the Oregonian irresponsibly printed a screaming front page headline that fueled anti-Muslim prejudices. Though the FBI admitted the falseness of the charges later (a fact that was reported first on indymedia), the attack on Sheik Kariye is not over.

Also opposed to another conflict in the Gulf is Robert Baer, a former CIA agent who was wrongly accused by the FBI of plotting to murder Saddam. This document basically admits that this whole War on Terror thing is not about just Iraq and Afghanistan, but the long term goal of US hegemony (full-scale military occupation?) over the whole region.

A proposal drafted by Elliott Abrams, a special assistant to President George W. Bush on the National Security Council (NSC), arguing for the United States to assert de facto control of Iraqi oil fields has stunned State Department officials. It doesn't help that Abrams (right) was convicted of withholding information from Congress during the Iran-Contra scandal, only to receive a presidential pardon from the current president's father.

Many of them are indicted criminals—five individuals were direct participants in the Iran-Contra operation.
