U.S.-Canada Perimeter Security and the Consolidation of North America
There is no reason to trust that our governments will strike any kind of balance between security and freedom. That is why it is imperative that we demand more transparency and input. With a joint action plan expected to be released soon, it is my hope that Canadians and Americans will reject any perimeter security deal that reduces privacy rights and further puts our sovereignty at risk.

Troy Davis Denied Clemency; Nazi USA Continues to Promote Death Penalty
Troy Davis was denied clemency. Nazi USA, led by the twin parties of the death penalty, war and fascism, the Democrat-Republicans, continues to promote the death penalty. We have a black president and black attorney general, supporters of the death penalty, who could easily get a federal injunction on the basis of civil rights violations but have done nothing. Amnesty International is asking everyone to sign their latest petition to the Georgia District Attorney, who could stop the Sept 21, 2011, 7 p.m. execution of an innocent man, another lynching in the backward USA that is now among a minority of nations that still has the death penalty.

The Capitalism of Hopelessness
The capitalism of hopelessness is a capitalism where the enemy is lost, where it cannot fulfill its promises of prosperity for the people as in the 1960s and where it sucks up and neutralizes all utopian energy and alternatives in the universe of ideas like a black hole. Public jobs must be created when the private sector sits on $2 trillion and refuses to create family-wage jobs.

Free Troy Davis! There’s No Justice in the Capitalist Courts!
[Troy Davis, Photo from the so-called Troy Davis was sentenced to death in 1991 for the killing of an off-duty Savannah policeman. Davis was found "guilty" based on dubious accounts that he confessed to the killing and questionable "eyewitness" identifications that included false eyewitness testimony coerced by the cops. Seven of the prosecution's nine "eyewitnesses" have since recanted. The only holdouts are one man who may be the actual killer and another who initially denied being able to identify the shooter only to pin it on Davis two years later. Three of the eyewitnesses say their testimony was coerced by the police. New eyewitnesses have come forth identifying another suspect.

Support Network, Buenos Aires 19.09.2011 07:09
Communique from the Buenos Aires Support Network for Freddy, Marcelo, and Juan
A la Calle! We never forget our imprisoned comrades. We don't mystify our respect for them but neither are we indifferent to their everyday experience. Solidarity is not, as has been demonstrated on several occasions, just a beautiful word or a slogan, but a practice inseparable from our struggle. This can be expressed in many diverse ways, and there are moments when an idea takes shape with forcefulness and continuity. Given the delicate situation (in court and in prison) that faces our comrades Juan Aliste Vega, Marcelo Villarroel Sepúlveda, and Freddy Fuentevilla Saa, who are currently held captive in prisons of the Chilean state, several individuals from Buenos Aires have decided to form a new support network in order to provide updates and disseminate information about their situation, as well as hopefully assisting in their return to the streets.

UG#568 - 9/10 Anniversary Edition (Unaccountable Accounts from Powerdown to Stand Down)
This week's show is released 10 years to the day since Rumsfeld announced that the Pentagon could not account for 1/4 of all its spending. Like the $2,300,000,000,000 he spoke about, many details from the next day are still unaccounted for, a decade later - including most notably the sudden (though not unexpected) implosion of WTC7. We hear the soundtrack of a new video by AE911 Truth, and testimony from a range of witnesses including Norman Mineta, William Rodriguez and Scott Forbes. We ask what sense it makes to 'demand another investigation' from the same crooks who carried out the first one, and pay tribute to a couple of enthusiastic amateurs who are carrying out individual acts of resistance to the NIST whitewash.

Obama Coopts The Labor Movement
When governments fall deaf to social reality, it's up to working people to get loud. Obama's jobs speech proved that the Democrats -- like the Republicans -- suffer from massive hearing loss, unable to listen to the millions of people suffering from the intractable jobs depression.

After mounting pressure from labor and community groups, Obama promised a paltry $447 billion for his American Jobs Act, much of it going to corporations as tax giveaways while the program is to be paid for, in part, by "deficit reduction" -- cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other social programs. Such an insulting "solution" to the deepening recession must be shouted down in the streets, but labor and community groups don't seem up for the challenge.
