Portland Anti-Fascists Respond to Neo-Nazi Gathering in Nebraska, Expose Local Attendee
Jeff Thomas with Oregon NSM On Saturday, July 4, 2010 Rose City Antifascists sent flyers to nearly 200 addresses around the apartment of neo-Nazi organizer Jeffrey Jay Thomas. Thomas--AKA "Skinhead J"--is a longtime neo-Nazi activist who participates in the white supremacist group "Blood & Honour American Division," and who has also worked with the Portland Unit of the National Socialist Movement. Both groups perpetuate racial hatred and intimidation wherever they organize. Thomas, most notably, stood with the NSM in Arizona on November 7, 2009 in a demonstration against immigrants, and is spending his Independence Day weekend with other active white power adherents outside Omaha at Blood and Honour's 2010 gathering. While he is in Nebraska, we alerted his neighbors about his active participation in the white power movement.

Public Scoping Meetings: U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION (CBP)
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to prepare four
Programmatic Environmental Impact Statements (PEISs) to identify and assess potential
impacts upon the human environment of ongoing and potential future border security
activities for the Northern Border between the United States and Canada. The anticipated
area of study will extend approximately 100 miles south of the Northern Border. The
four PEISs will address regions encompassing New England, the Great Lakes, states east
of the Rocky Mountains, and states west of the Rocky Mountains.

This notice initiates the public scoping process for preparation of the PEISs. The
purpose of the scoping process is to solicit public comments regarding the potential
environmental impacts that may be addressed. This notice announces that CBP is
requesting written comments and conducting public scoping meetings.

Additionally, the scoping process will allow CBP to gather information and allow
the public to participate in consideration of historic preservation activities pursuant to
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for activities along the Northern
Border.

You've seen the posts. Usually they're comments after a demo, or in response to report-backs from some killer action or other. They go like this: "You shouldn't be doing x, you should be doing y instead." As in, "How dare you work to help animals when so many babies are dying," and "how come you're fighting police brutality when there is a war going on" and "why would you talk about going vegan when there are so many more important things" and etc. Not coincidentally, a disproportionate number of these vapid criticisms have to do with animal rights. And, also not coincidentally, they are ALWAYS posted by people who turn out to have never lifted a single finger, either for the cause they are disparaging, or for the cause they claim that others "should be" paying attention to instead.
