Every year, roughly 5 million healthy, adoptable, dogs and cats are killed in shelters across the country because they could not find a home. Some people say this has to do with an overpopulation problem among cats and dogs. But it does not. In fact, around 8 million dogs and cats come into shelters every year, and around 5 million of those are killed for lack of decent homes. But at the same time, every year 17 million people go looking to adopt a dog or cat. So this is not a population problem, it's a problem of will. Do we care enough to stop the slaughter? Then we must care enough to stop the trafficking of cats and dogs, and we must care enough to go to the shelters and adopt animals who need homes. It's long past time to end this holocaust.

Rather than taking theory and separating it from its everyday practice. This is an attempt at allocating theory the ideas brought up in discussion and talked about and beginning to practice them (IE. Praxis). There will be no specific theory leading the discussions or dialogue throughout the time except for the person. The set up is to have the ability to talk and discuss the ideas in an open manner. So after every discussion there will be a small open dialogue about the ideas.

Last night Portlanders gathered to strategize about alternatives to policing and creating community accountability. We got together to build a movement working above the law for real definitions of safety and justice that fit the needs of our communities. This meeting, held in response to the second violent police shooting in the past few months, focused on questions of what should the relationship between police and community members look like, and what do our visions of justice look like?
Portlanders gathered to raise funds for the Institute of Anarchist Studies and to fund radical writers.
During May an exhibit, event and fundraiser will take place to benefit Portland's own anarchist and radical publisher and printer -- Eberhardt Press. All month long at the Red & Black Cafe.
Watching the footage of the demonstration against yet another murder by Portland police makes me think that it really doesn't make so much sense to be tangling with the drones themselves. The focus should be their higher ups and the elites (finance, insurance, real estate) who are running the urban removal program through the Portland Business Alliance.

We have claimed the initiative for the first time in years. We set the tone before the liberals could react, but that means that we have a responsibility to think critically and strategically about what to do with our newfound power.
