Darling Starlings
Starlings have gotten a bad name, and I would like to help clear that up. Even the Audubon Society, usually helpful to birds, has long offered up nothing but xenophobic zealotry against this poor species. Indeed, some chapters have actually recommended killing the starlings, because they "displace native birds!" Of particular interest to those out to get starlings, the lovely little Bluebird. It was thought that Starlings were contributing to the decline of bluebirds, due to competition for nesting sites. All kinds of hyperbole erupted around this point.

"Where have all the "liberals" gone? There was a time not too long ago when a North American would proudly refer to him or herself as a small-l "liberal."
President John F. Kennedy talked about himself as a liberal. So did the U.S. founding fathers, presidents George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, as well as Franklin Roosevelt, who led North America out of the 1930s Depression."

NOAA: Sea Lion Advocates and Fishermen Find More Common Ground than Expected
Two prominent Obama administration officials were in Oregon today to discuss salmon recovery. NOAA chief (and former OSU professor) Jane Lubchenco and White House Council on Environmental Quality chairwoman Nancy Sutley came to talk salmon, but pointedly did not allow participation from the public -- indeed, the doors were closed to almost everyone. This did not stop sea lion advocates, anglers, and other stakeholders from making their voices heard anyway.

Barack Obama hasn't been to the mountaintop, not in Appalachia
Barack Obama hasn't been to the mountaintop, not in Appalachia. Or, if he has, he wasn't moved, and he doesn't care; his Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved 42 out of 48 permits to blow up Appalachian mountains---mountaintop removal (MTR) coal mining permits.

More than a few environmentalists went into Obama Shock at the news. "United States of Appalachia" author Jeff Biggers responded with "Waterboarding for Appalachia," describing MTR as "the process of blowing up our nation's oldest and most diverse mountains, razing historic communities, poisoning watersheds, and causing massive erosion and flooding."

American Academy of Environmental Medicine Calls for Immediate Moratorium on All GM Food
summarizes much of the scientific literature in this worldwide biological experiment--why we are all at risk from GM foods including all species upon which we depend.

Since 1996, the data is quite shocking and hard to ignore unless you are invested in GM crops of course, insensibly stupid, or adamantly ignorant to the dangers. Short term GM profits and destroy our health and the biodiversity of thousands of years of human work just to make a handful of psychopaths rich in the corrupt-as-hell USA.

Monsanto should have its corporate license revoked for endangering public health and thousands of years of human inventiveness in crop varieties that we really still depend upon.

GM's Turn on Obama's Chopping Block
The alarm bells should be ringing day and night about what's being prepared at General Motors — the ripple effects could produce tidal waves.

The Obama administration has made no secret about its plans for GM: the Chrysler bankruptcy was the "test case," and now Obama's Wall Street buddies inside the Auto Task Force plan to replicate it. The vast implications of the Chrysler bankruptcy went unnoticed by the mainstream media, concerned as it was with the convenient hype provided by Swine Flu.

The real swine, however, are those preparing the greatest single attack on American workers since the Great Depression, the precedent of which will reverberate loudly through business-labor relations in the country — that is, if workers at GM and its parts suppliers don't put a stop to it.
