STRATEGY USED vs insurgents in Iraq being used by Chicago Police Department
In the weeks that have just passed we had been witness to an Israeli genocidal campaign against the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza. We had been witnessing one of the strongest armies in the world squashing women, elderly people and children. ...
, but this time, the Israeli transgression was categorically different. It was supported by the total absolute majority of the Israeli Jewish population. The IDF military campaign in Gaza enjoyed the support of 94% of the Israeli population

Here's the actual e-mail from Joseph Bast, the CEO of a Republican think tank in Chicago, the Heartland Institute, in which he explains why he has stopped his employee, the former Mayor of Maywood, Ill., an all-black suburb, from running for Lieutenant Governor. This was sent to other Republican insiders yesterday morning.
Note the hypocrisy -- Conner ran for Cook County Assessor in 2006 and netted 250,000 votes. He was an employee of Heartland then too. Guess these low-lifes at Heartland don't want a black man to be one of the leaders of the Illinois GOP.

Precisely because genetically modified soybeans and corn are so widely used in the production of a whole range of secondary food products (cooking oils, starches and sweeteners), it is virtually impossible to avoid eating "Frankenfoods," even if you consciously attempt to do so.

Do you want to save sea lions, but aren't sure how to get involved? Here's an opportunity for you to stand up for the sea lions, while having fun with friends. We're taking the Bus called Cool on a road trip on Thursday, April 16th. We're going to demonstrate at the ODFW headquarters in Salem, and then on to the Capitol to have a word with our elected representatives about how they can justify spending hundreds of thousands of tax dollars per year to execute native sea lions on the Columbia, while they are cutting important public programs across the state for lack of funds.
Contact the Sea Lion Defense Brigade via IDA if you would like to reserve a seat on the bus, to go down to Salem to raise your voice for the animals who live on the Columbia. Details below.
"The neoliberal revolution was the product of an historical development, a reaction top changed circum-stances. In its course, many western states in the 1970s and 1980s reconsidered the relation of state and private power.."

You read philosophy (don't yawn and run screaming yet) and you realize that revolutions do indeed start inside. The United States in the 1700's and the French literally had to rationalize their revolutions based upon the philosophies of the time.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said Tuesday that a massive blaze that gutted an under-construction, upscale apartment complex in downtown Indianapolis last week was intentionally set.
The March 12 fire destroyed the Cosmopolitan on the Canal apartment complex adjacent to the canal downtown, a $28 million building that was set to open in May, including retail shops.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- A massive, three-alarm fire gutted an under-construction six-story apartment complex a few blocks north of the Indiana Statehouse downtown Thursday morning in what veteran firefighters called the largest blaze in the downtown area in 20 years.
No one was injured, but 125 firefighters were sent to the Cosmopolitan on the Canal at Michigan Street and Senate Avenue. The 218 units at the complex were not occupied.

Apparently, yet another sea lion was put to death on the Columbia last week. Sea Lion Defense Brigadiers only learned of the death today. A sea lion branded C643 was executed by the state as he lay immobilized in a tiny crate, a short distance from his native waters in the Columbia. Two others were also trapped in the "infallible" killer traps, and are scheduled to be shipped off to a life of captivity in a Chicago zoo.

Thomas Geoghegan on "Infinite Debt: How Unlimited Interest Rates Destroyed the Economy"
The Obama administration unveils its $1 trillion plan to buy toxic assets from banks and restore the financial system. But should we return to the way it was? We speak with Chicago lawyer Thomas Geoghegan about his new Harper's Magazine cover story, "Infinite Debt: How Unlimited Interest Rates Destroyed the Economy." Geoghegan writes, "We dismantled the most ancient of human laws, the law against usury, which had existed in some form in every civilization from the time of the Babylonian Empire to the end of Jimmy Carter's term." [includes rush transcript]
Usury Country: Payday Loans Pushing Millions of Middle Class Americans Deeper Into Debt
Lawmakers and public officials in California, Ohio, South Carolina, Missouri, Washington and other states are attempting to crack down on the controversial practice known as payday lending. Payday loans are short term loans or cash advances secured by a post-dated check. The annual interest rate for these loans can be as high as 400 percent - ten times the highest credit card rates. Today, it's a $40 billion industry with more than 22,000 stores. We speak with journalist about his Harper's magazine article, "Usury Country" and with Ginna Green of the Center for Responsible Lending. STOP PAYING OFF THESE DEBTS AND STUDENT LOANS!!!! Education and healthcare should be universal and free! Foundations of a healthy democracy and social stability! Wake Up Cascadians!
Considering the track record of the government bailouts to save the "free market," socialists believe an additional $2 trillion will not ease up credit markets and will do little to ease the on-going national economic crisis. Congress has presently invested more than $2 trillion since February 2008 to free up the credit markets; however, the credit markets remain as frozen as Antarctica.
Dominance of the profit logic and economization of all areas of life must be ended. Capitalism cannot solve the global problems like poverty, insecurity, climate change, destruction of the environment, wars and dismantling democracy-it causes them!
