Priest Demands “Confession” from Some Obama Voters
The Vatican in Rome Recently, a RC priest in Modesto, CA, got upset about Catholics voting for the Prez-Elect Barack Obama. He said if they did so because of his pro-abortion position, then they needed to go to Confession before receiving Holy Communion. Didn't the good padre every hear of the "Separation of Church and State" clause? Also, as a result of the priest-pedophile scandal, many feel it's the wrongdoers in the RC Church who need to do the confessing.

Battle in Seattle Showing 12/9/08
The 1999 WTO riots in Seattle were historic for several reasons. This was the first World Trade Organization meeting in the United States and the first to be effectively shut down. The riots also brought the term 'anti-globalization' to several Americans for the first time. Also, Indymedia emerged from the tear gas of the riots.

Support the Good Time Bill and Push for Change in the Federal Prison System!
Americans inside US federal prisons have had no prospect of early release for decades thanks to the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, which abolished federal parole. Since the early 1980's federal prisons have become increasingly crowded. No provision has been made to decrease the burden to the federal prison system and the expense to the American taxpayer, and there is no incentive for prisoners to work towards changing their behavior while they are incarcerated - no amount of rehabilitation or good behavior will, under the current rules, bring any of the over 200,000 people in the federal system home to be reunited with loved ones and community.

The Bailout Intensifies
Even through its muffled language, it was obvious that the typically non-alarmist New York Times was having trouble digesting the latest government announcements. On November 26, the Treasury and Fed revealed it would spend 800 billion more tax dollars towards new "lending" programs. That day, the Times concluded that the government was "sending a message that they will print as much money as needed to revive the crippled banking system."[!]

Later in the article we learn that "the government has assumed at least $7 trillion [!!] in direct and indirect financial obligations in the form of Wall Street bailouts, emergency lending and government guarantees on bank deposits, inter-bank loans and home mortgages." The term "blank check" doesn't begin to describe the vast amounts being tossed about.

On Thanksgiving day, a beautiful little blue nose pit bull was shot to death by a Cornelius police officer, claiming that the dog had "charged" him. This dog was a very predictable victim of the hysteria and ignorance being pumped out by the likes of KPTV and other corporate "news" in the past month. It was also a victim of the officer's own cowardice, and the thoughtlessness with which humans often approach the lives of non-humans. Please see the bottom of this article for contact information for Cornelius, and please call them to demand that the officer be punished.

California Declares Fiscal Emergency; Philadelphia Plans Massive Cuts
Is this not reason why, We, of the Cascadian states of Oregon, Washington and (northern) California should be pushing for economic independence from the Federal Empire? Imagine if we in Cascadia had not sent all that federal taxes to DC only to support third world states like Alabama other "red states." Imagine if the Cascadian states had not sent all that federal taxes to mass murder Iraqis, Afghanis and covert wars else where. Imagine our sisters, brothers, parents and children in the Oregon, Washington and California Guards who would be home now and who would have been here for the fires in California or floods in western Washington.

Yet even in state bankruptcies we hold on to this seeking ship called the USS America. As the social contract continues to go ignored banks and corporations recieve over 800 billion dollars. Yet we sit on this ship deck watching as water floods our haul.

Construtive Change of our Political Institutions: Toward a Bioregional state
This is a summary of the bioregional state, moved from a comment to a previous post:  http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2008/12/383027.shtml?discuss

"Do you voters understand why so many of us have less-than-zero faith in the electoral process now?" But explain, spell it out for us. What is this better method of decision making you have in mind? How does it work? Are you under the impression that a vast number of Americans [and billions around the world] wanted some particular (different) major change and so were denied a choice of that at the polls? And that is the reason why the electoral process didn't work to bring about that change. Look, I want major change as much as you do, but we're not going to make much progress toward that goal as long as we keep deluding ourselves as to what the real problem is. The real problem is that we haven't managed to project a clear vision of those changes, convinced many other people to want them. That comes first. ORGANIZE.

Climate Activists Invade DC Offices of Environmental Defense

As the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change opened today in Poznan, Poland, a group of grassroots climate activists came to the Washington DC office of Environmental Defense to voice some complaints about their role in the shaping US proposals at the negotiations.

ED is one of the largest environmental organizations in the world and has been central in promoting the approach of carbon trading as a solution to climate change, a policy which has been publicly endorsed by Obama.

Dr. Rachel Smolker of Global Justice Ecology Project read a statement, which said in part, "My father was one of the founders of this organization, which sadly I am now ashamed of. So far they have utterly failed, serving only to provide huge profits to the world's most polluting industries. Instead of protecting the environment, ED now seems primarily concerned with protecting corporate bottom lines. I can hear my father rolling over in his grave."

The Obama "Dream Team": Rubin-clones and political fakery
Look into the bright shiny lights of Saviour King elect Obama. Come ol ye flock to the promise land of continuing bankruptcy and joblessness. Obama will correct all these ills. Oh please do not step in the crap.

There is only several ways to save us now. First the moment Obama is sworn in he should put out a arrest warrant for the war criminals and economic thieves. Second take any of the left over money and reinvest into back into localized economies with a Job Program work force. The other choice is simply let Cascadia go and let us be free to help ourselves from this phucking sinking ship called the USS Amerika! Why do I have a feeling none of that will happen? And we will see homeless camps growing and infrastructure collapse on the state and local level next. Well I am just sitting back, listening to Gore Vidal and watching this ship take on water. Iraq Veterans Against the War: Operation First Casualty - San Francisco’s Union Square
OPERATION FIRST CASUALTY: Action#1 Union Square 11/28/2008
As crowds of shoppers and ice skaters passed, a squad of camouflaged Iraq vets "detained" "suspects" (i.e. willing participants who had been trained), at two tables at an outdoor cafe in Union Square, in downtown San Francisco. The squad pulled almost a dozen "suspects" from their chairs, put them on the ground, cuffed, then herded the "suspects" to their knees on the grass across the street from Macy's and within viewing distance of Sachs. The squad put black hoods over the heads of their captives while cursing and yelling at them, articulating much anger and contempt. Instead of weapons, the squad held their arms as if holding weapons and, with their fingers pointing straight ahead looked menacing and threatening. Many shoppers had confused and shocked looks on their faces.
