Farmers at the capitol Yesterday, between 300 and 400 people gathered on the Capitol steps to stage a rally against liquefied natural gas (LNG) development in Oregon. MARTIAL LAW SURVIVAL GUIDE
This article will start off assuming that the Reader (you) is already subject to MARTIAL LAW; that is, the "suspension" of the Constitution. Curfews, rationing of basic goods, enforced relocations, confiscation of firearms and supplies, and summary arrest/execution by soldiers, paramilitary police and other jack booted chumps in black wielding assault rifles. Basic survival tips will be followed by more detailed ideals on how to counter this coup against the American People.

The remainder will apply IF you're reading this before MARTIAL LAW is imposed by the current corrupt government. IF you are reading this while you still nominally under Constitutional Law, it's urgent you read from the beginning to end so as to appreciate the opportunities you currently have to not only protect yourself and yours, but to attempt to stop a coup.

SECTION ONE: SURVIVING MARTIAL LAW

Rule #1

Never take the government's word at face value-except when they tell you that they'll kill you.

No to French Military Intervention in Chad!
While the devastating rebel offensive marks time, the French government is showing its teeth. The sending a few days ago of several hundred soldiers to Chad to reinforce the thousand military already in place had been presented as intended to help expatriates (those local agents of imperialism which, it seems, still haven't been bothered by anybody), the French military authorities said, without laughing, that they observed an attitude of neutrality vis-à-vis the internal affairs of the country. This so-called "neutrality" was reflected, however, by "logistical, medical and intelligence assistance" to the army of Chadian dictator Déby.

Bush admits, "we torture" -- democrats stand by silently
The White House publicly acknowledged on Wednesday that President Bush has authorized the use of waterboarding, and that he may do so again in the future. The statements amount to an open admission of criminal activity on the part of the US government.

The acknowledgement from White House deputy spokesman Tony Fratto came a day after testimony from CIA Director Michael Hayden before the Senate Intelligence Committee. For the first time, Hayden officially stated that the Bush administration had used waterboarding on three prisoners in 2002 and 2003.

Waterboarding is a form of torture used since the Spanish Inquisition. It involves pouring water over a prisoner's head to cause drowning, and has been prosecuted as torture by the United States government in the past. While the Bush administration is now stretching language and credulity to claim that it should not be categorized as torture, the director of national intelligence, Mike McConnell, acknowledged on Wednesday that "taken to its extreme, [the consequences of waterboarding] could be death; you could drown someone."

We see the reality of our situation. That the beast has had control over what we pledge allegiance to, who we pray to, what we believe in, what we're taught is right or wrong. We see beyond the convenient labels the beast's society stamps on us, past the conformity or the instinctive rebelling. Past the styles and the slang, the cultures and nationalities. See that we have a common enemy as old as the civilization we live in.

It's been 21 months since "One Man Parade"...
Just looking through some old IndyMedia stuff, and I have been meaning to post an updated "One Man Parade" for quite a while, but it hasn't happened. Here's the original, for now...

Since I started my personal vigil, with the intent of getting others motivated to speak out, I have been glad to see that the level of complacency/apathy that existed in early 2006 has morphed into a quiet, but widespread concern for the country. Though I ended my Hawthorne Bridge stand the day after the 2006 election, I have never stopped carrying my signs...at bus stops...walking up Hawthorne, Belmont, Burnside, Glisan, and many other places. The support that I have gotten from so many makes me think that I am having some effect...and that is all I wanted to do, when I first said, "I will not be quiet when Americans and Iraqis and Afghanis are dying for Bush's and the Neocons' LIES!!

It's over Bush and Company!! You have been proven to be lying, manipulative, evil scum (see the many articles about the 935 documented lies between 9/11/01 and 3/18/03, if you are still in denial...). It's time to resign and just come out with your hands in the air!!

I cannot conjure up the MLK phrase properly, but you know what I mean...the one about seeing, "the promised land". We need to keep pressure on for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney, or at least for the initiation of impeachment investigations/proceedings to slow their destruction of America, or this is gonna be one Fascistic place where none of us will want to live!!

Fight like you never thought you would have to!! It is our country, not theirs!!

Fuck Bush and the horse he rode in on!!

Death of a monster
On January 27, 2008 General Soeharto, former dictator of Indonesia, passed away. This man was responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of communists in a bloody coup in 1965. The exact number of deaths may never be known, but it is estimated that between half a million and three million leftists, trade unionists and student and peasant activists were slaughtered. Despite these monstrous crimes and his well-documented corruption (he embezzled billions of dollars from the Indonesian people, which have yet to be returned) the old butcher died in his bed, untouched by the law.

Ten years ago, he was swept from power by the movement of the masses that brought his bloody 32-year dictatorial rule to an end.

Soeharto was born in 1921, and started his career as an army officer as early as 1940 under the Dutch military. When the Dutch ignominiously surrendered Indonesia into the hands of the Japanese, he became a member of the colonial army created by the Japanese.

Wayne Madsen Report, posted by Styve 05.02.2008 12:26
McCain's past makes him a Neocon puppet
Madsen has long been onto the elements of John McCain's past that make him unsuitable for anything but Neocon cheerleader. Please read, circulate and attribute to the Wayne Madsen Report.

From the article below~~

At the time of the Forrestal disaster, Admiral McCain (McCain's father) was Commander-in-Chief of US Naval Forces Europe (CINCUSNAVEUR) and was busy covering up the details of the deadly and pre-meditated Israeli attack on the NSA spy ship, the USS Liberty, on June 8, 1967. The fact that both McCains were involved in two incidents just weeks apart that resulted in a total death count of 168 on the Forrestal and the Liberty, with an additional injury count of 234 on both ships (with a number of them later dying from their wounds) with an accompanying classified paper trail inside the Pentagon, may be all that was needed to hold a Sword of Damocles over the head of the 'family honor'-oriented (McCain's persona is supported by his book about his father and grandfather, both Navy admirals, titled 'Faith of My Fathers') and the 'straight talking' McCain.

The Bush administration and neo-cons may have uncovered reams of documents that throw cold water on that public perception.

William Bergin hits Rock Bottom (More Sordid Details on Killer Cop's Night Out)
Stop me before I kill again Last week, Portland Indymedia ran an article detailing the curious downfall of officer William Bergin, the cop who tortured and shot Fouad Kaady to death. Bergin, it seems, was arrested almost a year ago, after drunkenly menacing his former girlfriend at around 3 in the morning on March 8, 2007. I want to make it clear that this incident was a serious one, especially given Bergin's record as a killer. I would like to know why this man is still working as an officer of the law. More than that, I want to use Bergin's own testimony to point out that there is a culture of violence, cover-up and dishonesty in the Sandy PD that bears looking into, especially if one is interested in justice for the many people who have suffered violence and injustices at the hands of Sandy police officers and been ignored. So this week, I am going to quote liberally from the Sherwood police report describing his arrest and subsequent behavior and statements to the police.
