Ballot Measure 9 in Review
When you think about it, 1992 wasn't that long ago. It was only 16 years ago that Oregon was considering passing an amendment that read, "All governments in Oregon may not use their monies or properties to promote, encourage or facilitate homosexuality, pedophilia, sadism or masochism. All levels of government, including public education systems, must assist in setting a standard for Oregon's youth which recognizes that these behaviors are abnormal, wrong, unnatural and perverse and they are to be discouraged and avoided." Ballot Measure 9 was an anti-gay amendment proposed to Oregon voters in 1992 by the conservative group, Oregon Citizen's Alliance. The purpose behind the bill was to encourage hate and to make discrimination against queers legal.

Help Iraq Vets start GI coffeehouse in Tacoma
The concept of opening a GI coffeehouse near Ft. Lewis is becoming a reality. The Seattle and Tacoma Chapters of Iraq Veterans Against the War are raising money to open a GI run coffeehouse near the Washington base. Coffeehouses have traditionally served as anti-war headquarters and have been integral in creating an anti-war GI movement. Only $5,000 is needed before the coffeehouse can open. If you can please send $10 or any amount of money to the GI voice project in Tacoma, we can open a center of GI resistance.

US Tightens Canada Border Crossing Rules (next step to LOCKDOWN)
I have posted before that TSA (Transportation Safety or Security Agency) is suppose to hand over the no fly lists with responsibility to Homeland Security on February 8th. Which means you will need permission from the Federal Government to fly in the US or in and out of the US. Then there is now the new rules about crossing over that communist country to the north (south east if you are in Alaska) called Canada. So as NAFTA and CAFTA makes it easy for the Corporatists to steal money on the international level and multinationally exploit and oppress for a future North American Union, we the people are being boxed in like sheep to the slaughterhouse.

Cascadians STOP THE DRAWING DOWN OF THE MEDICINE CURTAIN. George W Bush talks of democracy and free people yet systematically has undermined civil liberties and the social contract that rational thinking people have demanded since the Enlightenment. Casacadians on the British Columbian side of the border and Cascadians on the Washington, Idaho and Alaskan Panhandle side of the border are families and friends not pawns in a game of global corporatism. "Mr Bush tear down this wall". Free Cascadia!

Indy Consumer Reports: Vacuums, Car Insurance, Air Fresheners
All right, most of us would prefer not to be "consumers." At least, not in the usual sense of the word. Most of us understand that over-consumption by our soft-in-the-middle society is causing an ecological crisis of catastrophic proportions. But having said that, when we do "consume," we should do so wisely. We should have the information we need to steer clear of dangerous or defective products, as well as the dangerous and exploitive corporations that sell them. To that end, I have been wanting to see some consumer reporting on this site. Then I realized, if I want to see something on the site, I need to become the media and write something. So here goes.

Telecom Group Key Player in Immunity Battle
Please read this and hit the phones to call the Democratic traitors who support the Rockefeller/Cheney Intelligence Committee version of the FISA battle, which provides immunity for the telecoms that spied on America. The Intelligence Committee version is supported by a dozen Democrats and it would would grant retroactive immunity to the telecoms that illegally worked with the Bush Regime to conduct criminal warrantless wiretaps on American citizens.

This think tank, "Third Way" sounds like a GOP ruse, or plant, backed by hedge fund and military industrial complex funding.
