The End of Capitalism As We Know It: Book Review
Capitalism needs a pension. The time for a dissolution of the historical phenomenon of this special economic form is overdue. The good old capitalism now appears as a development-brake and catastrophe-accelerator because monopolies are impractical and inflexible.

Threat of US recession panics global stock markets
Stock prices plummeted worldwide Monday, amid heightened fears of a US recession. While over the course of last week US financial markets suffered the worst fall since 2002, with the Down Jones Industrial Average dropping by 5 percent, many Asian and European indices dropped by a similar amount in just one day. It was the biggest one-day fall in world stock markets since September 11, 2001. Industrial stocks fell together with financial, suggesting that the US credit crisis, hitherto confined mainly to the banking and mortgage sectors, is spilling over into the real economy worldwide.

Fight the NTIA (analog to digital TV) FRAUD with knowledge !!
A local company has been contracted by the US Government to facilitate massive fraud on the American public, in the forced move from analog to digital TV. This topic was raised in December, with few responses, but since the kick-off was 1/1/08, maybe people are more interested.

The Wikipedia bit on NTIA is below...notice that the person running it is a Bush appointee from 2006...this program is not designed with the interests of America in mind. Think DLJ, EPA, Dept. of the Interior...you get the drift...

Read the official Government description of the program, and notice the easy-outs that are written into the program, which are sure to guarantee a clusterfuck that will make Hurricane Katrina seem like small change!!

Notice in the program description below...
* the narrow window for people to apply for the program,
* the restrictions and minimal qualifications placed on retailers,
* the qualification of the features of the converter boxes,
* the random limit of the # of coupons to just 2 per household,
* the shirking of responsibility for the proper function of the converter boxes by the Federal gov't...and the list goes on and on...

The Bush Administration is out to destroy this country, for a profit, and that should be the lens through which people see this and any program these "geniuses" foist on the country!

Will provide more info later...

Open Letter to the World from the Exxon/Haliburton Administration
[With the Bali Conference being diminished by the Bush Administration's political appointees to a waste of the world's time by refusing every attempt of a global emissions treaty, it may help people to remember the Apollo 13 mission. That is the one where the lunar vehicle's oxygen tank exploded and it took a herculean effort of the NASA ground crew to come up with a CO2 scrubber to keep the crew alive long enough to return to Earth. They had only a very limited amount of material to work with and a very short time to devise a system of removing the CO2 from the capsule........but THEY DID IT!!!!! Miraculously they came up with a make shift device, out of nearly nothing, to take the harmful carbon dioxide from the air in that little spacecraft and saved the crew's lives.

With that knowledge, and the record of the US delegation in obstructing the Bali Conference on Climate Change searing in our memory, the letter below is the only conclusion that makes sense of it all: I realize the scale of the problem is beyond exponential......my point is that scientists can do some very amazing things, if they are allowed to.]

Mystery Gas Sickens Students, No One Will Say What it Was
Last Monday, St Helens High School was evacuated after students and faculty noticed a strong odor, and some fell ill. Nearby, people at the local Safeway store, and at the bank, also became ill. Several people had to be treated for nausea, dizziness, burning of skin and eyes, and respiratory complaints. After some initial speculation that it was a natural gas leak, it was finally determined that it was, instead, a mystery. There was no leak anywhere on the school grounds, and chemical sniffers detected no natural gas. What was it, then??? Officials are mum.
