Friar Louis Cappio must live
The Brazilian semi-arid is immense: 912 thousand square km. It is populous: 22 million people in rural areas. It is the most rainy of the planet: 750 mm / year, on average, which corresponds to 760 billion cubic meters of rainfall per year. It is not true, therefore, that there is no water there. The nature provides it, but it is wasted: the waters evaporate quickly, under the strong sun, or go soon away, running on the crystalline waterproof ground.

Bin Laden Boogieman Story Just Too Good to Let Die
"Bin Laden" showed up yet again last week to help out the Bush Administration on the eve of the important Iowa presidential caucus vote. Now a November 2007 Benazir Bhutto interview with BBC's David Frost has surfaced in which Bhutto claims that Bin Laden is dead. Already, Duke University Bin Laden expert, Bruce Lawrence, stated two years ago that he believed Bin Laden was likely dead. Nevertheless, BBC chose to withhold this information and mislead the public by deleting this part of Bhutto's statement. Bin Laden has been a very useful Boogieman to the New World Order, and it's hard to give up a great story.

“Antiwar” candidate Kucinich backs warmonger Obama in primaries
Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich has announced to his supporters in Iowa that if he does not reach the 15 percent threshold of votes needed to proceed to the second round of nominating the party's presidential candidate, he "strongly encourages" them to vote for Senator Barack Obama. This further underscores the cynical and deceptive nature of Kucinich's campaign and his supposedly leftist, antiwar stance.

Kucinich's statement states, "In those caucus locations where my support doesn't reach the necessary threshold, I strongly encourage all of my supporters to make Barack Obama their second choice. Sen. Obama and I have one thing in common: Change."

Obama is one of the top-tier Democratic candidates and is thoroughly in line with the militarist strategies of the ruling elite. Just like the Democratic Party as a whole, Obama's criticisms of the Iraq war are not about ending it, but how to make it succeed. Currently he advocates a partial withdraw from Iraq to re-focus on the "war on terror." He has called for more troops in Afghanistan, and unilateral US military incursions into Pakistan.

The Case for Socialized Medicine in the United States, and the Struggle to Achieve It
Photo, 17 year-old Nataline Sarkisyan, who died due to the denial of treatment. The California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee blasted insurance giant CIGNA for failing to approve a liver transplant one week earlier for 17-year-old Nataline Sarkisyan, who tragically died just hours after CIGNA relented and agreed to the procedure following a massive national outcry.

"CNA/NNOC Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro called the final outcome 'a horrific tragedy that demonstrates what is so fundamentally wrong with our health care system today. Insurance companies have a stranglehold on our health. Their first priority is to make profits for their shareholders - and the way they do that is by denying care."

"It is simply not possible to organize major protests every time a multi-billion corporation like CIGNA denies care that has been recommended by a physician," DeMoro said. "Having insurance is not the same as receiving needed care. We need a fundamental change in our healthcare system that takes control away from the insurance giants and places it where it belongs - in the hands of the medical professionals, the patients, and their families."
