28 Seconds: The Killing of Fouad Kaady Video Showing Saturday @ The Watershead
Fouad Kaady You've heard the lies. Now come and learn the truth.

For 18 months, the police and the corporate media have claimed that the killing of Fouad Kaady was justified. They said he was on drugs. They said they feared for their lives. They said he threatened to kill them. They said officers "never violated policies or procedures."

We beg to differ.

Believe it or not, this story is told in the officers' own words. And you won't even believe what you hear.

Where: The Watershed is located at 5040 SE Milwaukie (On the corner of Milwaukie and Mitchell, just South of Holgate.)

When: Saturday, April 21st, 7pm

Why: Because the truth matters.

SIN FRONTERAS MAYDAY!
from mission statement:
Sin Fronteras Portland formed to confront the growing violence, and economic disparity caused by the U.S./Mexico Border (and all national borders) and U.S. Imperialism. The movement for immigrant rights and border justice has been focused on pandering to politicians, and trying to "reform" blatantly racist laws. We do not believe white supremacy can be "reformed". Where we see the left in the United States has failed, we seek to participate in the building of popular social movements towards economic and social justice; here in the belly of the beast.

What is that a sign of for you today? You are the most courageous generation that we have ever had. You are the strongest generation that we have ever had. You are the most fearless generation that we have ever had, but your courage and your fearlessness are being used by the enemy so that you will destroy each other. When you pull the gun out, it makes you feel powerful, but the gun did not get you a following in China. The gun did not get you followers in Iran, Egypt, Ghana, and South Africa. It was the word. You do not need the gun to empower you, because the gun in the hand of an underdeveloped mind becomes an instrument of self-destruction. You have become now tools of a satanic mind that will use you to destroy your future.

Native Youth Movement Tooled by AIM,Inc and ideologically-challenged naivete?
here, an example of NYM stuck in the concrete of their own self-confined belief For many years there's been a storm of building hype in indigenous country (especially around the militant aspect of indigenous resistance), but of late, it's become more and more hyped-up in a most curious way, including character assasination attempts against long-time figures without contexts and empathy. All this appears to be having an effect of someone trying to drive a wedge between the vital experience (or praxis) of the elders, and the too often easily-exploited anger of youth just entering the movement. This time around it's centered on different conceptions about how to run a resistance, one swamped in ideology (and a short history of merits in direct action), the other having a long record of uncompromising defense of indigenous peoples who insist on their autonomy. This article goes thru, albeit roughly, some of the history of the building hype and ways in which movements are divided and conquered, and gives lessons about the remaining apparently easily-exploitable weaknesses of the radical movement today.

Don't blame Hip Hop for Imus's racism
Imus's sidekick, Sid Rosenberg and producer Bernard McGuirk, who was hired by Imus to do "N-word jokes," have gotten away with catering to one of the founding doctrines of U.S. society—white supremacy. Racism is a tool of the bosses used to create a privileged layer in society, to obfuscate and pit workers against other workers instead of fighting together against the owners and protectors of the capitalist mode of production.

The Terrorist Walks
The backgrounds are well-known and reach far back. The people who trained him and ordered him to destroy a Cuban passenger plane in midair, with 73 athletes, students and other Cuban and foreign travelers on board, together with its dedicated crew; those who bought his freedom while the terrorist was held in prison in Venezuela, so that he could supply and practically conduct a dirty war against the people of Nicaragua, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and the devastation of a country for decades to come; those who empowered him to smuggle with drugs and weapons making a mockery of the laws of Congress; those who collaborated with him to create the terrible Operation Condor and to internationalize terror; the same who brought torture, death and often the physical disappearance of hundreds of thousands of Latin Americans, could not possibly act any different.

The Washington Legislature Fails to Pass an Impeachment Resolution
The effort to pass an impeachment resolution in this legislative session ended today in Washington. Over 100 people rallied on the Capitol steps before taking seats in the gallery to watch a debate that was scheduled for impeachment and the Iraq war. Curiously, no one defended the President or Vice President. No one stood up to say the allegations were untrue. Yet, impeachment failed because too many believed it wasn't their job to stand up for the Constitution.

Best Explanation of 9/11 Yet.
What really happened on September 11, 2001? There are too many speculations to examine in this space, but one ludicrous conspiracy theory deserves mention. It goes like this:

A 44-year-old former CIA asset, operating out of a cave in Afghanistan, coordinated a plot whereby — without any inside help — four hijacked airliners, piloted by 19 flight school dropouts, flew around the most secure airspace in the world for almost two hours, unopposed by 35 in-range USAF bases. Then the incapable pilots brought down three (yes, 3... ) Manhattan skyscrapers, and even rammed a jet into the headquarters of the world's most technologically superior military without a single anti-aircraft missile being fired.

Ecuadorian masses deliver blow against the oligarchy and imperialism
On Sunday, April 15, the masses of workers and peasants of Ecuador delivered a blow against the oligarchy and imperialism by voting massively in favour of calling a Constituent Assembly. The final results announced by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal were 5,350,000 votes for the Constituent Assembly (81,72%), and barely 824,000 against (12,43%).

The scale of the victory surprised all commentators. In only three of the country's 22 provinces did the Yes vote score below 80%. Even in the province of Guayas, where the country's second largest city Guayaquil is located and a traditional stronghold of the country's oligarchy, the vote was 75% in favour and 18% against. The Yes vote reached 87% in the provinces of Azuay, el Oro, Imbabura, Loja, and 85% in Carchi, Pichincha, Tungurahua and Zamora Chinchipe.

The referendum campaign was extremely polarised with all the country's traditional parties opposing the current president Rafael Correa in his proposal of a Constituent Assembly. The mass media, in a campaign reminiscent of those waged against Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, accused Correa of being an authoritarian, a communist, dug up all sort of dirt on his past and his family and generally created an extremely polarised atmosphere.

Bush, Democrats meet on war funding as violence soars in Iraq
US President George W. Bush and Democratic congressional leaders staged a meeting in the White House Wednesday to discuss pending legislation that would provide more than $100 billion to continue and escalate the four-year-old US war and occupation in Iraq.

The gathering took place against the backdrop of a bloody eruption of violence in Iraq. A series of mass killings in and around Baghdad made a mockery of Washington's claims that the "surge" of additional US troops into the Iraqi capital that began nine weeks ago is creating greater peace and security.

According to the Associated Press, 233 people were killed Wednesday throughout Iraq, making it the second deadliest day since the news agency began keeping a tally of the dead two years ago. Iraqi police said that 191 people were killed in Baghdad alone. The Sadriyah marketplace in the center of Baghdad, a predominantly Shia area, was the scene of the most horrific of the bombings, which claimed 140 live, while wounding 150 others, making it the deadliest such attack since the US invasion of March 2003. Angry crowds at the scene denounced the Iraqi government and the US occupation as those responsible for the carnage.
